  1. Still looking for contact from the 2 hole this year. 0-5 5 K
  2. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Apr 7, 2012 -> 06:58 PM) As everyone expected. Most projections I saw had them picked ahead of us.
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 7, 2012 -> 06:03 PM) Red Sox first five series Detroit, Blue Jays, Rays, Rangers and Yankees OUCH. Gotta play them sometime...Sox are used to slow starts after the last couple of years.
  4. This line-up just looks pretty bad. 5-9 of Rios-Lexi-Flowers-Morel-Beckham looks pretty gross.
  5. Everybody freaking out about the Tigers on the THIRD day of the season...just let the season play out. It's two freakin' games in. The Sox were 2-0 last year and looked unstoppable. It's gonna wear us out enough just worrying about the Sox this season...let alone having panic attacks every time a Detroit player hits a home run. OMG they're gonna be 2-0 at home. Big whoop.
  6. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 6, 2012 -> 04:00 PM) Danks isn't an ace on a contending team. This is a true statement.
  7. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Apr 6, 2012 -> 03:58 PM) We still banged out quite a few hits. The combination of that giant strike zone and Lewis' command would be tough on anybody. There's no way Beckham or Morel had a chance out there today against that slider. I have some optimism with this lineup as it seems like we can hurt you anywhere in the order...hopefully. There is certainly a lot to chew on after today. More than Morel and Becks, I just don't think that Rios is ever going to be good again. I mean...the second half of 2010, ALL of 2011, a bad spring...at some point the guys just done being productive.
  8. QUOTE (sunofgold @ Apr 6, 2012 -> 03:41 PM) I kinda didn't like how Ventura managed this game and I have been supporting him. Morel batting second? He never has batted second before and boy did he look uncomfortable. Having De Aza try to steal second with Dunn up there and of course Dunn walks Taking Danks out early in a close game kinda is a give up move. Not thinking about possibly extra inning game. Not using a pinch hitter for Morel or Beckham or Rios etc I didn't mind getting Danks out. Guillen alway overpitched guys...it's opening day. We have a long season to go. Morel batted second some last year...same type results. It was worth a shot, but one game is enough for this project. He needs to be ninth. I'd rather have AJ batting 2nd first pitch hacking than see Morel look completely clueless up there. I'm hoping as the season goes along, if the struggles continue for Morel and Becks, that they are staggered out of the line-up so neither is in there at the same time. It's pretty much impossible to bat them 8-9 if they are just sure outs. De Aza attempting a steal is fine. Gotta test the waters.
  9. The Sox didn't play too bad today. The Good: Pitching...everybody. Danks-Reed-Thornton. Adam Dunn...Welcome back? The Bad: 13 strikeouts The Ugly: Brent Morel The Sox are gonna beat some teams if they play the way they did today. Obviously need to work on the strikeouts, but we scored 15 and looked invincible opening day last year...and look what happened. I like the way they battled back to get it tied...on a HUSTLE play...by RIOS no less. I'm encouraged moreso than completely put off.
  10. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Apr 6, 2012 -> 02:51 PM) I'm at work, following the game through this thread. I can't tell what's really going on with all of the sarcasm and whining. There are 10,000 different ways to follow a game. Twitter, espn gameday, foxsports, chisox.com...on and on and on. Why you're following on an in-game thread is beyond me...
  11. You can deal with some of these strikeouts...but that was just awful on Alexei's part right there...come on.
  12. I had no idea Craig Robinson was a fan of the Sox...I knew there was something I liked about him.
  13. Central division champions...it's gonna happen. I can feel it!
  14. Gonna be honest...I thought no shot after they wasted Rios' lead-off triple in the 11th...maybe the fortunes have turned. I really haven't been happier all season. I'm gonna bask in this one for a while.
  15. Blake Wood is a good example of garbage that the Sox never score off of. 1.59 ERA and a .118 OBA vs. the Sox in his career. 5.07 Career ERA.
  16. Add on runs? One time? Make it easy? One time?
  17. Nicely done Crain!!!! Told all of us to shove it.
  18. Farmer just said it right.... "3 walks and 2 hits. Thats the least amount of runs you can score right there." You wanna be happy they took the lead....but man oh man. Too many times this season the Sox score the minimum when they have a pitcher on the ropes. And now 2 hits to start the 8th. Get Crain out.
