  1. QUOTE (dayan024 @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 12:33 PM) Bill Shaikin ‏@BillShaikin 39s Source: #WhiteSox had asked #Angels about Conger this winter. Not believed to be in current 3-way trade proposal. That would be a great piece to get with Eaton. He's the young catcher, Korean I think
  2. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 12:27 PM) Alden Gonzalez ‏@Alden_Gonzalez Three-team deal "not imminent" but "getting pretty close," source says. Howie Kendrick NOT involved in it. #Angels #Dbacks #WhiteSox Sox need something else then. I agree, this is the only gutting nixing Kendirck when others have said the Sox are adiment that he is including. Hopefully it's jus part of negotiations and he's a part of this in the end. If it costs another Lower level spect do it.
  3. QUOTE (beautox @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 12:26 PM) If the sox acquire Eaton I hope Davidson is coming back as well. Move De Aza to LF and move Viciedo to the rays for lobaton and an Arm Wow you really de-value Viciedo. That's okay you'll be eating your word coming June when he's raking for us. Viciedo is going no where, especially for a bum like Labaton lmao
  4. QUOTE (dayan024 @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 12:23 PM) Chris Cotillo ‏@ChrisCotillo 59s Howie Kendrick is NOT involved in the deal, reports @JeffFletcherOCR and @Alden_Gonzalez. Deal is getting close. Well then the deal is starting to get less intriguing to me. I hope we get something more back than Eaton, well have to see. I like Eaton but the deal sounded so much better with Howie damn it!!!
  5. I think we trade for Kendrick to keep him at 2B he also plays 1B not that that helps. I wouldn't mind moving Gordon to 3B but I sincerely doubt it with Gillepses. Unless they platoon. I think we have another trade up our sleeves with Gordon, I have a feeling with Toronto, or NYY. We could also trade Lexi and move Gordon back to his natural position of SS. Any ideas of how Kendirck is defensively?
  6. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 12:17 PM) So Eaton and Kendrick for Hector+? I'm hoping we aren't tossing in a big prospect, something like Thompson maybe, but not Beck or better. But then...where do De Aza and Gordon go? Toronto?
  7. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 12:12 PM) This. We trade someone like Sale & now we have all these new holes & expectations to be met. Trade Santiago OTOH & you need a #3 SP type value in return to replace him, and with the right moves you may be able to even exceed that. Worst case we make a bad move, bring in a couple busts or something, but losing Santiago doesn't really hurt our forward progress. Moves like this will get the Sox where they need to go. If this Eaton dude did work out then just imagine how much better we'd feel having another position player to pencil into our next contending team. I hope we can get 2 good future players out of Santiago and a prospect or 2 here, that would be nice. Well put bud.
  8. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 12:12 PM) That's not bad. That would be a hell of a deal for us. Really everyone. Wonder what we do with Gordo. Anyone know what we could target from Toronto??
  9. QUOTE (Baron @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 12:10 PM) This is just strange Our beat writers say no chance, national guys say maybe, Mexican dude says yes. At least we will start to see how RH uses the media.
  10. QUOTE (bear_brian @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 12:07 PM) If we sign Uribe, we will turn Keppinger back to Tampa for that LH hitting catcher (name escapes me). We will platoon Uribe and Gillaspie at 3B, be able to spot Juan at SS and 2B when needed. It would be a good acquisition because of his defense and the flexibility he brings. This sounds pretty feasible to me, though I think we would get something back more than just Lobatoton, at least I hope. He just doesn't do it for me at catcher. Also I'm petty sure I read someone's post where we are linked to John Buck who I would love to get to platoon with our underachievers. A lot more than Jose Labotan. Though I don't know if buck is a Fa or would require a trade.
  11. QUOTE (Butter Parque @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 11:57 AM) Love Juano, just don't understand the fit. We made one mistake with Kep, why compound it with another 2 years of Juano? I don't mind getting Juan, he plays every position in the IF well and offers a solid PH off the bench. The only thing I would need to be okay with it is if it's contingent on us trading Keplinger or a different IF. But preferably swapping Kep with Juan is be okay depending on the money and return for Jeff.
  12. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 12:04 PM) Aren't 4-team trades very rare? However, that would be interesting. I think if the Sox get one more piece (a solid prospect), most of us will be happy. Agreed, or Eaton ad Kendrick, would suit me just fine.
  13. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 11:59 AM) And white. LMAo
  14. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 11:58 AM) He has a near elite K rate and an ERA of 3.30 in his season's worth of starts so far. This after being completely misused and jerked around by the organization. If people aren't touting his ceiling they should be, because he's shown it to be pretty high. While he has been great, I think the Sox trade record of trading young pitchers has turned out pretty well for the Franchise in the past... I also think we can come about a 3rd SP ceiling guy easily in the upcoming draft or finding another young pitcher and workin on him like we did with Qunitana. I just think overreacting trading Santiago without knowing what we are getting in return and judging a guy for 300 at bats is a little premature. Let's let it pan out and see the deal and what the sox do the rest of the week/offseason. Santiago is replaceable, there is no arguing that, and I trust Hahn to get his values worth from him.
  15. QUOTE (PolishPrince34 @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 11:40 AM) His elbow definitely is a scary situation. Many players have had this same issue and just a matter of time turns into Tommy John Surgery: Carl Crawford, Ardoylis Vizcanio, Colby Lewis, Brett Anderson, Casey Kelly. Those are players that come to my head just right now. I would stay away from Eaton, not a true CF. Reports tend to show he's more suited for LF. Davidson is a better fit. We have a huge hole at 3B. He did go under the knife though, which some of the other players didn't do. He had UCL surgery ( I think, it's posted in one of the scouting reports I posted). So he got it cleaned up, instead of resting it.
  16. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 11:30 AM) Hector spending a little time above his promised land last year.......and Eaton spending a little time below it last year...... ........is why we even have a shot at this. I'm on board. Do it. LHP is a surplus, and we have a need for a ready-now guy with great ceiling. Well put, the more I hear on Eaton the more I say pull the trigger. We are trading from a position in which we have flexibility, especially LH's. And IMO Santiago is probably the one who has a chance to flounder ( I think JD comes back to what we are used to). Lead off guys who draw walks and play CF, hit left-handed and bring a grindy-ness that will excite fans like Rowand did (as I have read many scouting reports say this guy plays balls out regardless of his safety) are hard to come by. This kid has 88 at bats, was AZs 5th overall spect in 12, 73 rd overall in MLB in 13, and who is coming over injury and devalued. Not to mention this dude has had a chip on his shoulder since being drafted cause of the tag he was too small to be an everyday MLB'er. I'll take my chances, if he can turn that chip and be even in the same zip code, or state as Dustin Pedroia who also had that chip, RH is a genius in 2 years.
  17. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 11:31 AM) If the Sox had discussed Kendrick earlier, I am guessing he is a part of the discussions now too. The hold up is satisfying the difference in values. The Sox getting Kendrick and Eaton for Santiago alone would be stupid good value. Maybe they'll be able to kick Beckham over to LAA with either side kicking an additional smaller piece back to Arizona. I agree man if RH was some how able to land Eaton and Kendrick for Santaigo (or Hector and another piece) I'd be giddy. We know the Jays have interest in Beckham. Maybe we trade him for some more "exciting" young players like KW mentioned.
  18. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 11:29 AM) Trade him for a catcher or 3B I assume Or he's our 4th outfielder off the bench, which is better than Danks IMO.
  19. QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 11:23 AM) When it's -11.2 in 66 games, it's pretty telling. DRS also disliked him at -5. It doesn't mean he's never going to be a good outfielder again, it's a red flag though. He's played in 88 total MLB games in which half he was coming back from injury. I don't think it fair to judge him by stats alone.
  20. QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 11:21 AM) He got hurt early in the year and he didn't look like the same guy from 2012 afterwards. Very discouraging IMO. Especially for a speed guy like him. It was his throwing arm, don't think that should effect his speed at all....
  21. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 11:20 AM) I think he had a nagging injury last year didn't he? Yea he avoided Tommy John though: It’s been a tough start to the 2013 season for Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Adam Eaton. The highly touted young star was diagnosed with a small tear in the ulnar collateral ligament of his throwing elbow in March, shutting him down for nearly two months. He had recently began playing the outfield again during a rehab stint, but discomfort in the same elbow forced a shut down and suggestions of Tommy John surgery were being whispered. Thankfully though, an MRI conducted this morning revealed no structural damage, which avoids any significant setback. Still, it’s going to be a few more weeks at minimum for Eaton to return as Steve Gilbert says doctors suggest he go throw a multi-week throwing program: #Dbacks announce that Adam Eaton’s MRI did not show structural damage, just irritation. 2-3 weeks of strengthening then throwing program. Consider it a major bullet dodged for both Eaton and the Diamondbacks who were potentially facing a season ending injury and one that most likely would have lingered into next season as well. Eaton, who appeared in 22 games for the Diamondbacks last season, was expected to be their leadoff hitter prior to the injury. He ranked as the 73rd best prospect in the Major League’s prior to the 2013 season.

  23. I would love to figure out a way we can get both, Kendrick and Eaton!
  24. From what I can see from reason a few scouting reports the past few minutes is the only thing holding people back on calling this guy a top prospect is his build and body. We see how that turned out for one Dustin Pedroia and his giant chip on his shoulder. I like this if Ricky pulls it off. With of without an add on.
  25. SB nation scoutin report in which he is compared to David Dejusus, the more I read the more I like: Prospect of the Day: Adam Eaton, OF, Arizona Diamondbacks Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Adam Eaton (not to be confused with the former major league pitcher) is currently destroying the Pacific Coast League, threatening the .400 mark in 62 games for the Triple-A Reno Aces. You don't see Eaton on many top prospect lists, but he's got an excellent track record and is the subject for today's Prospect of the Day. Adam Eaton was an extremely successful outfielder at the University of Miami-Ohio. He hit .294/.374/.406 in 50 games in his freshman year in 2008, then boosted his production to .350/.472/.617 with 11 homers and 28 steals in 2009, then .368/.466/.709 with 13 homers and 30 steals in his junior year of 2010. Scouts gave him good reviews for his work ethic, speed, athleticism, and throwing arm, and his statistics were obviously excellent, but he lasted until the 19th round in the draft and earned a bonus of only $35,000 (more on that in a moment). Eaton continued ripping pro pitching after signing, hitting .385/.500/.575 with 20 steals, 35 walks, and 44 strikeouts in 226 at-bats for Missoula in the Pioneer League. Of course, that's the Pioneer League. Lots of people hit well there. Bumped up to High-A Visalia to begin 2011, he remained extremely productive with a .332/.455/.492 mark with 24 steals in 65 games. But hey, that's the California League; lots of people hit well there. The same is not true for the Southern League, a more neutral environment. Promoted to Mobile for the second half last year, Eaton remained productive with a .302/.409/.429 mark, showing some power slippage but continuing to control the strike zone well (30 walks, 35 strikeouts in 212 at-bats) and swiping 10 bases. He hit .300/.391/.325 in 11 games for Mobile this year, before moving up to Reno in late April. He's hitting .392/.463/.536 in Triple-A, with 28 walks and 37 strikeouts in 263 at-bats, with 22 steals. Overall, he's hitting .380/.461/.508 this year with 34 walks, 45 strikeouts in 303 at-bats, with 28 steals in 34 attempts. In 262 minor league games, Eaton is a career .352/.452/.503 hitter, with 82 steals in 110 attempts. So, what's the deal here? This guy tore it up in college, and he's tearing it up in pro ball. Eaton is a left-handed hitter and thrower, born December 6, 1988 in Springfield, Ohio. The key thing that has kept him off top prospect lists is size: he's just 5-8, 185 pounds. However, he's got good tools, including above-average running speed, and a very strong throwing arm. While he doesn't have huge home run power, he has good pop and can sting the ball to all fields. So far, minor league pitchers haven't found any weaknesses in his approach, and he's handled both fastballs and breaking balls well. He did have some issues showing pop against left-handed pitching last year, hitting .263 with a .331 SLG, but that hasn't been a problem in 2012: he's hitting .417/.493/.533 against lefties in Triple-A. Eaton is also well-regarded for his work ethic and intensity. While Arizona doesn't have an immediate opening for Eaton, he doesn't appear to have much learning left to do in the minors. Although it would be easy to categorize him as a future fourth outfielder, his combination of speed, gap power, on-base ability, and sound defense could make him a regular for some teams, at least in a David DeJesus kind of way.
