  1. QUOTE (Wanne @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:40 PM) If we got Owings and Davidson I'd be giddy! Ditto, personally as long as Owings was a part of the deal I'd be giddy, dude could be nasty.
What does that translate to. I see rios and finalize lol
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:26 PM) Why would the Cardinals be willing to give up Martinez? It's Been said the Cardnials are worried about him sticking as a starter because of his build. He is smalle like 5'9-5'10 and throws 95 consistently and doubt his body can hold up as a starter throwing the way he does. Not to mention they have a stable of young quality high potential pitchers in the minors and it's been said he is expendable to St. Louis. They said the same thing about Sale and Chris has turned into a pitcher instead of a hurler. He can still hit high 90's but with the guidance of coop has learned to hold back in order to last not only longer in games but career wise. He's a guy I think the Soc still think can be a SP and a damn good one.
  4. Supposedly PV is now listed as tomorrows starter? According to MLbTR and Cleveland's twitter page. The D'Backs may kick the tires again on Peavy, hears Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports. The White Sox are now listing Peavy for tomorrow's start against the Indians, for what it's worth. MLbTR link on the page
  5. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:24 PM) Knobler says Royals are looking at Beckham and Rios. Man oh man why is going on, the S**t that could go down the next two days makes me giddy. But a lot of this coming out has to be bs. But makes me excited all the same.
  6. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:17 PM) I look at Adams as more of a great number 5 hitter but other than that great post and I completely agree. I'm not high on Adams personally. I rather have Wong as far as position players and want Martinez more than anyone. I just get a feeling a rotation of Sale and Martinez as your 1 & 2 for years to come. That's a start of something special. I like the idea of Wong at 2B and Beckham going back to his natural SS position. Would love to get a nice young 3B in a trade some how
  7. I don't buy the Pirates in on Peavy this smells of a direct shot across the bow of Mr. Mozeliak. I can see a Rios/Ramierez buy not peavy and Rameriez. We'd have to eat a ton of $.
  8. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 12:37 PM) It's Pittsburgh. Pirates not a team eager to take on future salary obligations. Hahn knows he has to bring some fresh blood into this mix and change the vibe of the team. He's going to get crushed if he does nothing. Also knows this is his first big at-bat. He wants to be perceived as "winning" some of these deals. Bottom Line: He knows Sox fans want Rios out. He also knows he has to get a prospect people can get at least somewhat excited about. To do that, he's going to have to help Pittsburgh cover a chunk of that 2014 salary. Agreed it isn't my money but if eating some cash gets you a B+ instead of a c+/B- in a package I'd do it, for the reasons you said these trades have to generate excitement among the fans. The Sox can't afford to lose the fan base anymore than they have this year. We can't afford a long rebuild like the cubs, nor will we with the pitching we have. We need to generate some young high profile position players from these trades that gives us something to look forward to.
  9. I hope we get that guy McCutchen back for Rios
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 11:45 AM) Bob Nightengale, who really is one of the better ones with White Sox info, says the Cardinals are still very interested in Peavy. Cardinals and Red Sox according to Bob, and Dicks right Nightengale always seems to be on top of Sox rumors and is hardly wrong. Barley tweets and when he does he doesn't blow smoke.
  11. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 11:12 AM) I dont get why people are just errantly hoping for a trade You have to hear what the trade is and then decide if you like it or not. I'm basing it on the names associated with St. Louis. Wong, Martinez, etc. I would be more than happy with them coming back for Alexi and Jake. I'd also be more than happy to keep both if the return is lame. I don't get why people errantly assume others opinions. I've been saying I want to trade with St.Louis based on their farm ranking and names rumored. Take it easy bro, it'll be okay.
  12. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 11:08 AM) I think Peavy and Alexei go to St Louis today Hope you're right
  13. Random question: say the Garza deal with the cubs never happened, would you guys have been happy with the same package in return for PV?
  14. There is one more thing I've been kinda thinking the past two or three days. Especially now, with Jake being held out of his start. I think it is more than possible a deal may have already been worked out and the team that traded for him has asked to hold on to announcing it. The reason they would ask this relates to the biogenesis stuff. Maybe the team that has acquired Jake has a player or two on the list and is waiting for MLB to announce it. Then they will announce the trade in order to capitalize on the good press of trading for Jake and shift the attention of the bad news of biogenesis.
  15. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 09:15 AM) It would be absurd for Peavy to start tonight. We'd knock down his value 5% or so by starting him. I suspect Hahn will knock down his demands and settle for a Garza like package. I didn't figure Peavy to bring a top 50 prospect. I still think RH pulls this off, I still believe we get a better package than Garza. I just don't know where he ends up. Hopefully STL with Alexi. It would be one hell of a trade for STL, and for us as long as we get a combo of Martinez and Adams/Wong +
  16. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 08:44 PM) You Rienzo'd us! Lol that was great!!!!
  17. An NL executive that has recently spoken with Phillies GM Ruben Amaro Jr. told Andy Martino of the New York Daily News that he thinks Lee will be dealt (Twitter link). That executive chose Boston as the likely destination. Martino is careful to note that it's "informed speculation" on the executive's behalf, as opposed to something that Amaro came out and said directly. MLBTR Google Translation: Bull Sheet! This is Bens response to RH saying we keep Peavy. An NL executive? Informed soectulation? Now this from Hayes this is great LMaO. This is been a hilarious 48 hour game of car and mouse that's why i see Boston as the place. It had been quiet on that front the past two days till a bout a hour ago. Now we're building around PV? And Bostons going for Cliff my guess talks have stalled and they are posturing for when they go back to the negotiation table.
  18. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 07:19 PM) @ALLsportsINTEL: MLB - Phillies source trade talks with Red Sox have intensified for Cliff Lee, Phils want Bradley Jr and Cecchini, also big on Barnes. Well this sucks, why would Boston want to give up those prospects and eat 70 Mil. Still call BS Phil's have said they don't want to trade him, and doesn't he have a NTC?
  19. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 06:32 PM) Not a big fan of that one Im in if we take out Middlebrooks and substitute Cecchini.
  20. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 06:03 PM) https://twitter.com/MLBBrasil/status/361974724441542656 https://twitter.com/RobertMurrayMLB/status/...982820211634176 I think he is starting tomow regardless if we trade Peavy or not. But I also believe it could signal a deal and of all people a guy no one heard of leaks it by accident. I think we hear something late tonight, like 12-2 am, I think Rick and Ben have been working on something the past two days and that's why it's been so quiet about Peavy on the Boston front the past 48 hours. Bring me Cecchini and 3 more top 30 spects I'm happy (Raunaundo preferably)
  21. I say we are all happy come Wednesday, I see Jake, Lindstrom, Rios, Rameriez, and maybe Dunn all gone. This is all part of the game, even more so with a new GM like Hahn. These GMs are trying to push him around and test RH, they are using their leaks to test him further. Hahn is standing his ground, he is used to going toe to toe with agents negotiating multi year and multi million dollar deals. You gotta give the kid a chance before we worry or judge him. We have two days which is a lifetime in deadline time. Have no fear Rick Hahn is here. PS: Frank was on Sports Talk Live and said he expects 4-5 players to be dealt and even mentioned there may be a trade no one is expecting or talking about. Specifically mentioned one of the two young leftys, Hector and Josè.
  22. If Reds are looking for a bat like Rios I would love to give them someone like Lindstrom and pick up all the money to try and get Billy Hamilton back, dude is ridiculously fast and could be as disruptive as Ricky H. Not going to happen but would love if it did.
  23. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 04:55 PM) Remember: Rick Hahn is a shrewd negotiator. Was an agent. Did most of the White Sox's big deals. Tough to get a read on. Playing this well. -- PASSAN Love this by Passan, one of the true professionals and a guy who doesn't just report what he is told but uses common sense.
  24. Rios' agent Paul Kinzer told Fred Mitchell of the Chicago Tribune nothing appears imminent with his client unless other teams are willing to improve their offers. Per MLbTR Looks like Ricky boy is holding strong we need another 6-6 game for Rios with 2 HRs, 2B, 2 SB, and 5 RBI. I really want to move him, I know we don't want to eat money but if that's what it takes to get the package of prospects you want I'd do it, but it's easy for me to say, not my money.
  25. -Peavy and Alexi and $ to STL for Martinez, Wong, 2 other top 50 prospects in their system. -Lindstrom to Boston for high ceiling low-A ball. -Rios and Crain to Pittsburgh in a 2-team deal with the Rays. Not sure how but just get a feeling. -Dunn and DeAza to Texas for 1- Top 20 spect, 2- Top 50, and 1 or 2 lower level prospects. Rick gets value for the guys were looking to trade and gets a good mix of high ranked prospects and high ceiling prospects who Are more than a few years away from the bigs. We are able to replenish the system IMO
