QUOTE (everafan @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 07:54 PM) Last week, Mully, around 5:15 am. Talking about AJs mental lapses said something like we heard some rumors - you just hope he comes out of it. Berstein, after the lack of slide, tweeted - Now AJ doesn't slide, as if his teammates could hate him even more. Speigel wrote a Daily Herald article about it. Sorry beat me to it lol
-
I have also heard some perculiar texts slash comments. Two that stick out Bernstein tweet: Dan Bernstein @dan_bernstein 30 Aug Nice slide, AJ. Now your teammates can detest you even more, as if such a thing is possible. Found that weird at the time a week ago And I cant find the quote but Mulley commented about how its been "odd AJ has been making mental Mistakes and something like there are rumors surrounding him swirling and he hoped AJ would come out okay". The score has to tread carefully with a story like this since they are in parternship with the Sox. So naturally they are going be very careful. But stil. I just have a bad feeling. And really what a shame this is for a great 2012 story and more importantly for us fans who have grown to love AJ. Just tough

This would truly be disheartening and a punch in the gut to all Sox fans and the organization as a whole. Personally if true I would hope the Sox make an example out of him and release him outright for putting his personal agenda before the teams. Sorry, I have no sympathy for players who continue to try to cheat their way to a paycheck, and find it even more alarming how dumb they are to keep trying to get away with it. Normally a name doesnt have an affect on me, but when its your team its an embarassment. All that being said hope this is just someone making a muck over a disliked player. AJ has been a favorite of mine for years, so for now ill give him the benefit of the doubt until its official. But there is an awful lot of whispers out there.

Sox eager to move Floyd, other notes

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 02:47 PM) There's still some time and trades to be announced. If I were a GM, I would like mine announced right at the deadline in case my rivals feel a need for a counter move. Good point. Down to crunch time now though well see. -

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 02:40 PM) Have we heard the Sox mentioned even once yet today? I don't think we have. It's been WAAAAAAAy quiet from the Sox front office so far...... I agree he's working on something whether it gets done in 15 who the he'll knows. But the last 48 hours not a peep out of Whitesox camp -
QUOTE (Caesar @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 12:41 PM) Just proved you wrong. Case closed. Yep by copying and pasting something from MLbTr. God ur a tool

A team can request a physical but yet are not required for a trade to be processed. Both Heyman and Mitch Williams touched on this yesterday when talking about Garza. They said teams are able to look at medical records but the Cubs do not have to have Garza take a physical. When you are trading during the deadline it's buyer beware. You can say I'm wrong but I'm not.
-
No physicals in midseason trades, they can release medical records but no physical given. Buyer beware during the season.

Not so fast not done yet... The Giants appear to have bolstered their lineup today, acquiring right fielder Hunter Pence from the Phillies and countering the Dodgers' aggressive moves, tweets SI's Jon Heyman. However, at this moment Giants VP Bobby Evans tells Andrew Baggarly of CSNBayArea.com there is "no deal" and the team is "working through many options." Other reporters feel the trade is close.

Yep looks like this one is OVA

Done deal according to Heyman and MLBTR

It's Eriely quiet out there right now for KW on a deadline day. Usually there is some kind of rumors going around or talk out there about the Sox, but nothing the past two days. It's odd with KW comments after The Liriano trade. I can't remember the Sox being this quiet on a deadline since we landed peavy at the wire a few years ago. Either something is up or nothing it up lol
-
Done deal per Tim Brown on Yahoo
-
I also believe we may see KW biggest move yet today, I don't think there is any doubt he is out there trying. I'll say this much KW is always a hot topic on deadline day and for everything to be this quiet concerning the Sox right now I think something is in the works. But like Blaze said it doesn't always come to furition. But I do see atleast a utility guy being traded for at the very least today.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 10:27 AM) It's scary that Tigers are looking for a middle of the order bat though. Unfortunately, they probably finally realized that having a terrible #5 hitter behind a great 3/4 can really hurt you. About to post that, that's scary if they get a RBI guy for 5. Hopefully this happens soon so KW has time to respond. I wouldn't be shocked if they get Soriano.

QUOTE (spiderman @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 10:05 AM) Peavy, Sale, Floyd, Liriano and Quintana is a solid rotation. If you think only 2 or 3 of them are solid, you have extremely unrealistic expectations. That's not to say they don't come with concerns, but the White Sox most definitely have a solid rotation, one through five. I don't think he is questioning whether or not he feel they are good/solid enough stuff wise, he is questioning whether or not they can hold up for the next two months plus a post season. And he makes a valid point with the exception of Liriano and Floyd, the rest of those guys have either never pitched in Aug and Sept in the bigs or that many innings or haven't pitched in Aug/Sept after a whole season in 2 years. Those should be more then concerns it's downright scary. Especailly if you look how these pitchers have performed their past starts.

QUOTE (striker @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 09:55 AM) I think we need another #1 or #2 starter, unless we go to a 6 man rotation. None of Floyd, Quintana, Liriano, Peavy, Humber and Sale have fatigue and injury written all over them. I agree man, but everyone here thinks there is no chance we have the assets. I just don't have faith in the rotation holding up the rest of the season and hopefully for a extended October run. If Peavy or Sale go down we are beyond screwed not only for the pennant chase but for a playoff series. We have seen pitching, not a world beating offense wins championships in October. I just would feel a lot more comfortable with another proven veteran starter, doesn't have to be an ace but a solid 2 or 3. I would feel a heck more comfortable even with someone like Demps. I think KW needs a starter and Utlitly INF before 3PM.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 09:42 AM) I wouldn't be shocked to see them acquire another starter, perhaps a guy like Rock has been mentioning for a few days now, Joe Saunders. But it's doubtful. I still believe Quintana is the real deal. He's run into some trouble in the early innings of his last few starts, only to battle back and give us some decent innings. He's run up against the Twins twice now, who are at or near the top of the League in runs scored since the ASB, and the other mediocre start he had was in NY. Although I would love Joe Saunders, AZ is trying to add not sell. Lastest reports say they are after an ace and was looking at Upton for Cliff Lee

I also think we are underestimating the benefit for Dempster to stay in Chicago if he can't play for LA. I think if he had a choice of Texas, NYY, or Chicago at 2:55 pm today he choses Chicago because of his family
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 09:37 AM) I get the impression he'd be content just playing out his contract. I just think with him being public enemy number one for Cubs fans right now he wants to get the hell out of dodge. This whole dragging his feet till today I don't blame him. You don't get the power many times as a player so why not use it when you have it. If I were him and could wait and see which teams I could go play for I would. And if a team that my best friend played for was interested I would probably wait for them to. With that being said, if things don't pan out in LA I don't see Demps staying with the Cubs while they are absolutely miserable the next two months. The team will be a bunch of minor leaguers. Say what you will about Ryan, he may be a cub but like all players you want a chance to WIN and ultimately that will win out with Ryan if he doesn't ends up in La
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 09:27 AM) They may get a utility IF or middle reliever. I can't see a realistic scenario that adds a starter or starting pitcher. You're probably right, however I just think KW is far to quiet since Sunday, usually when he is quiet he is working on something. I just think KW is all in this trading season. He has left his stamp already on this year but I don't think he is done, personally I think his biggest move is yet to come. Im probably wrong, and just wishing for it but I just think Kw is on a mission

And this interest from NYY and TX comes from Kaplan. That right there should tell you something. I swear Theo uses Kap as his mouth piece. Kap is never right lol
-
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 09:25 AM) Now the Yankees are saying that it is BS, they are not going after him. And the world keeps turning... Both NY's and TEXAS interest in BS, it's classic Theo stirring up interest to get this deal done. Theo is getting nervous with LA closing in on Victorino. Texas would be better off with Ogondo in the rotation then Demps and I don't think the Yanks would be interested in Dempster pitching in the AL East. Everyone is saying Dempster won't come to the Sox, well he sure as hell won't stay with the Cubs after everything. If Theo has a decent package from KW and LA says no deal, I think Dempster would accept a deal to stay in Chicago and enter a playoff chase. If LA doesn't pull the trigger I could easily see KW swooping in
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 09:12 AM) No one. Which is why the Sox are all but done unless the trade of a lifetime breaks apart in the next six hours or so. The sox aren't done period
-
QUOTE (balfanman @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 07:16 AM) No, they do not have 5 solid starters. I'm not sure if they have 2 - 3 currently. Quintana the last couple of starts, Sale both have dead arms, who knows if they can pitch worth a s*** the rest of the way. Peavy hasn't pitched a full season in years, he too is very likely to have a dead arm before long. Humber, Floyd, who knows what they're going to provide. I said it in another thread, but the safest bet of bunch right now may be Lariano, and who really knows with him too. The Sox most definitely do not have 5 dependable starters right now and I fear that this could be their undoing this season. I agree, with everything. I really hope KW adds another few players in the fold. Mitch Williams even said it on CTL last night, KW has done some good thinks. But if he were the GM he said he would no doubt add another starter, and an ace at that
