  1. It's been an awfully quiet day for Whitesox rumors, which usually means KW is fast at work. Here's hoping when we wake up tomorrow we have a few moves in store for us and a flurry of action around of the rest of baseball. I just want something on deadline day, took the day off to watch MLB Network special.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 11:02 PM) Soriano rejected a trade to the Giants For real?
  3. Cubs are busy tonight. My guess Dempster deal to LA gets done tonight.
  4. That's a ton of $ to pay pence to sit on the bench, unless we are trading Floyd and De Aza for a SP
  5. Can we never use the metrodome in a game thread name again. That name alone brings us bad luck, this was a classic metrodome meltdown.
  6. Awesome 2 games in a row our defense cost us games. Inexcuseable. Games like these and chances like these make the difference when trying to win a division.
  7. Tex left the NYY with a wrist injury, MRI tomorrow. Injury bug continues to bite the Yanks.
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 10:01 PM) Matt Thornton basically can't get lefties out anymore. It's kind of sad actually. We've seen both Marte and Thornton go from the best LH set-up guys in baseball to ... well, whatever Thornton is now. Yep, you gotta thing these Lefties have seen him a ton since being a left-handed specialize. Especially the M&M boys. I think he is just over used a little bit, but will be absolutely fine.
  9. QUOTE (Real @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 09:52 PM) de aza is a hell of a drug Lol, great post
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 09:52 PM) Cubs will probably get a solid pitching prospect or two back Lol probably Delgado. Nice trade for the Bravos
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 09:46 PM) For Profar...Theo's amazing No freaking way! Really, that is amazing. Isn't Porfar a SS though, seems Starlin will be manning the spot for awhile. The rangers wouldn't even trade Prfar to MIA for Johnson. Wow
  12. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 09:41 PM) Heyman says not Tigers on Reed. and not Mets on Soto. FWIW Maybe SF. Hmm love this time if year should find out shortly. Let's win this daggom game pickup another game make another couple of deals and run off with this sucka
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 09:37 PM) Yeah, I'm sure he's getting promoted with Reed Johnson leaving. I figured he would be promoted I just didn't realize they would pull him from the game to promote him. Cubs doing some shaking. Ata boy Rios, payback!!!!
  14. Cubs pulled Brett Jackson as well in the minors. Do they usually do that when calling someone up?
  15. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 09:06 PM) Reed Johnson update: Tiegers, Pirates biggest possibilities. Weird if it was Pitt and they traded for him in the middle of playing them.
  16. QUOTE (Caesar @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 08:37 PM) That kid is ridiculous. Thanks but not a kid. Played baseball my whole life including college ball for NIU and now coach HS ball. Know a little about baseball, but okay buddy. This is not like some radical idea, it happens all the time.
  17. QUOTE (Caesar @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 08:35 PM) You pull that s*** and you lose your veterans. That's a joke, it's been happening since baseball was invented. It's sending a message, I'm not saying send a defensive replacement in that inning right after it happens (although that has happened, and that I feel is unprofessional) but when he comes in after the 1/2 inning you pull him to the side and very "politely" let him know he can spend the rest of the game on the bench thinking about whatever is so important it's taken from your focus on the field. A guy is not going to lose his snit over this unless he is soft.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 08:27 PM) Please don't tell me you're talking about what would have been if Escobar was still here Absolutely not, what I'm talking about is having the ability to hold a guy like Alexi responsible for his defensive mental lapses the past two games. You take him out sit him on the bench and I can promise he wouldnt do it again. Problem is you take Lexi out his spot in the order is an automatic out. Just be nice to have a guy to come off the bench who can carry a stick. If nothing else to give the guy a mental break every once in a whole. I am very much in favor of the Lirano trade as per all my posts since, just saying the way we have mentally gave teams life by mental errors needs to stop. And Robin needs to send a meAsage but it's hard when you don't have the tools to do such. I'm old school and when a guy plays like Alexi has the past two games he's is taking a seat next to me on the bench
  19. I think we need hold who ever created the gameday thread accountable for this game this far. Putting or mentioning the "metrodome" is sacraligious and is punishable by an afternoon at Wrigley watching the Cubs vs Houston
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 08:24 PM) One thing's for sure, if we keep playing like this defensively against the Angels, we're going to be very lucky to take one game against them this weekend at USCF. Hard to take a game from anyone when your giving 4 and 5 outs or and extra base very inning. Plain lack of focus and Robin needs to right the ship or hold people accountable. Personally after the last two games I would have pulled Alexi to show him it stops now..... Oh wait we can't we don't have a major league suitable SS replacement.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 08:19 PM) Gotta get the bullpen up before this gets out of hand. And this is also why you absolutely don't even consider trading Floyd. Yes this is absolutely why you consider trading Floyd. If he brings you the prospects to go out and get a starting pitcher who doesn't walk 11 guys in his last two starts and has pitched past July then do it. Floyd is a 4-5 starter and this don't make a difference in October. Trade Q or Floyd, whoever brings you the beat pitcher back in a package. Floyd blows.
  22. What the F**k is up with the defense!! Man Q is really struggling, doesn't have jack tonight. And honestly the lack of focus the past two nights on D is inexcusable. And could quite honestly cost us two games in a row in a middle of a pennant chase. Seems like we have our youngster hitting a wall in the rotation. I truly hope KW pulls something out of his ace tomorrow.
  23. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 08:12 PM) Kendrys Morales just hit a 2 run homer & a grand slam in the same inning.....Trout also went yard again. Is that 8 RBIs for Kendry then?
