QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 07:47 PM) Somehow, I have a feeling we end up with Dempster, somehow. Right now, you have no idea what to think about Sale or Quintana going forward. Quintana's fastball was there, he was up to 91, it was his location and getting behind in the count that killed. That and a dinker that Alexei couldn't handle and Revere beating the defense to the opposite field with Viciedo playing tight. We are probably overreacting after one inning. But for the exact points you brought up with Sale and Q, and even Peavy or Danks. I just don't think Kenny is comfortable yet. I still think Demp winds up in LA but it wouldn't shock me if we somehow land a big name starter. Maybe Johnson or Garza. Who knows I just think we need another proven SP who has pitched in the MLs in August and September in the last two years lol. Get a SP and utility guy call it a day. BTW GB is looking better at the plate the last few games. And Alexi has to get his head out of his behind out there in the field. -

This is why KW will get us another starting pitcher before the deadline. Even with Frankie this staff just has too many questions. -
I just have had this feeling that Kenny is going to hook Cliff Lee, I don't know how I just have a feeling. Reports are saying the Phillies have made him available. Cliff Lee is in play in trade talks today, tweets ESPN's Buster Olney. Olney considers the Rangers the most logical landing spot, and Joel Sherman of the New York Post names them the frontrunners. Olney says the Yankees are not expected to be in the mix due to lack of budget space. Sherman talked to one executive who expects Lee to be dealt by this month's deadline or in the offseason, to allow the Phillies to save money and add young players. On Friday, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports wrote that the Phillies' lefty would not be traded this month. MLBTR

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 08:07 AM) It was reported that Kenny Williams was seen with a phone to his ear as he was walking. Wow, do you have a link for this?!?!
-
QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 07:16 AM) The Sox may be pretty well set with pitching. I would assume KW is looking for some infield help, but I doubt we see another major move. Heyman was on Mulley and Hanely this am, and reiterated the fact KW is looking to try and find someone to trade for Gavin Floyd, and also reiterated KW is still one of the most active GMs out there. He said we are in on League, guess we will have to sit tight for another day or so. I think Kenny is still out there looking for a jaw dropper, just my opinion. I just get that feeling KW wanted the rush after a blockbuster like Grienke and he is like a gambler on a run, he wants that rush again. Not saying it will happen, I just think he has another impact move left before tomorrow at 3PM. Once we get closer to that 3 PM deadline the more you see GMs flinch and I think that's when Kenny is at his best.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 08:18 PM) Reporters jumped the gun a bit on this one, no? Lol looks like it. Or maybe someone got cold feet after his outing. However most writers were saying nothing probably was imminent if they had him out there pitching this afternoon.
-
Gotta suck to be Blanton to be traded twice in a matter of a couple hours!!!
-
Not a very good offensive effort tonight. Hopefully we can knock Feildmen out and continue our successs against the Ranger bullpen
-
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 08:09 PM) If they use this to trade him I will be thrilled. Ditto
-
Ya.... Nevermind gross
-
Alright boys time to get some runs here!! T-Y 2-run jack

Per MLBTR: 2:36pm: The Giants have serious interest in Jonathan Broxton, Jim Bowden of ESPN.com and MLB Network Radio reports (on Twitter). Interest on Broxton is picking up and there's a 60-70% chance he'll be traded by the deadline, ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick reports (on Twitter). Maybe they have moved on from League, either because of his outing today or maybe cause they told him he is no longer available.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 06:11 PM) Games are final. Let's see if something happens now. Jon Morosi @jonmorosi Brandon League warming up, per @shannondrayer. That would suggest no trade imminent. 5:18pm - 29 Jul 12 Shannon is a beat writer for SEA. Maybe if this doesn't happen soon, Seattle is waiting to see how Gavin does tonight before they pull the trigger on the blockbuster that brings Felix and League!! The more it drags on the better maybe. And clearly this is wishful thinking but who the heck knows.

Williams, meanwhile, said reports that left-hander John Danks could face season-ending surgery "was news to me. From Chicago tribune article about Liriano. Link: http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,2563686.story

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 05:15 PM) Gammons on MLBN said he thought League would be going to the Giants 2nite. Didn't mention White Sox SFGiants and Mariners have discussed Brandon League, sources confirm. Still not clear where he is going. MLBONFOX Morisi still trying yo find where confirms talks between SEA and SF. Guess well know for sure once this game ends.

QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 04:23 PM) Who would you guys say is the most credible reporter out there regarding trade rumors? Nightengale?...Buster?...Rosenthal? I feel like for the Sox Rosenthal/Morosi and Nightengale are the best to follow. I think they have a line into KW, I've followed them the past couple of deadlines and they always seem to be the national guys who cover the sox the most.
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 04:15 PM) I still remember the 09 deadline. The deadline had passed and I was pissed. We didn't get anyone. Then Bob Nightengale tweeted that we got Peavy (again) and Soxtalk crashed. Haha. Hopefuly we can get another crash, this time in reaction to Felix
-
4:06pm: The Mariners were discussing League with multiple teams as of this afternoon, Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports reports (on Twitter). Not that this is news.
-
Lirano to start Tuesday against his old club according to Bob Nightengale on Twotter.
-
On a sidenote, although I throughly applaud KW for being active. You have to wonder if too many more moves affects this great chemistry established. Granted you check the egos at the door, this team is really close and took Escy's departure hard. I just dint want this team being affected from the swagger they have shown all year
-
I don't care what anyone says about Kenny Williams. This guy always makes the deadline fun for us Whitesox fans. The guy is always active and atleast for me, I love this about KW. Let's see what he does, you know when KW said last night "time to shut the phone off" was just another KWism for watch me save my best move for last and really tell all you guys to F..k off and doubt me again.
