QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 11:51 AM) LOL Rangers getting so desperate. Asked for Brian McCann. Just saw that they must really not want Rios or Hahn is asking for the world for him and they aren't willing to budge. It's hard to know its all just smoke at this time.

Close or not just getting it out there that someone wants to trade for Crain gets people interested again. How could you not be? Yes he's injured but he's been absolutely lights out. Could be Hahn using the media to get Boston to get moving on a Peavy, Crain deal. We really can't believe anything until its actually done. Teams use writers to spin for them as much as a certain administration uses CNN. I do think though today is the day for things to go down, however I feel it will be later tonight probably after the game as it gets closer to Jakes start. Today's the day boys.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 11:17 AM) I do not know for sure, but for some reason I seem to remember only like 2 or 3 tops? I could be wrong though. Sounds right, would be a sick job. I would kill to do that. Hell you don't even have to pay me just tip me out at the end of the year!

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 11:11 AM) We think a like Lol, for sure. I hope Rick does too, if there is only one guy we move I truly hope it's Rios, he's just not mentally tough enough to cut it. Guy is gifted as hell and is just too soft, saw it in Toronto and got glimpses of it here. He takes plays/days off. Unacceptable and if we are starting fresh we need guys who will buy in and not ditract from what we are doing.
-
I think Pittsburgh is the mystery team, hopefully with Rios or De Aza going too. It's cash and mota of course.
-
On a side-note, how much do you think these players tip the clubhouse attendants?
-
I buy Crain may be close but don't buy it with the Rays. If we trade Crain I still see him packaged with Peavy to Boston, but this could also signal we're trading Peavy to someone else other than Boston, like STL with Alexi (please)

Peavy to Boston, Avisail Garcia + 3 low lv specs to Sox

QUOTE (southside hitman @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 09:59 AM) Honestly no. But they have a lot of nice prospects in a tier just below him that we are probably working on. Someone like Cecchini, who I'd still be enaromerd with. I'd be happy with either Xander, Cecchini, or Iglesis as a starting point. I just don't think I want Will Middlebrooks he scares me but also could be a Hanley type thing were Boston trades him and regrets it for a while because of a slump -

QUOTE (southside hitman @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 09:21 AM) I don't think anyone would be saying Hahn failed miserably if we landed Bundy, surgery or not. The track record for that procedure is quite good. +1 It's a risk for sure but so is Peavy and so WAS Peavy when we traded for him in the first place. No doubt that a Bundy/Peavy trade would be one Rick is judged on for his career, good or bad. but i'd have faith in the FO doing enough work on him to know whether or not the risk is worth while. -

QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 09:16 AM) How much negotiation do you think is done via text vs phone? Good question, I bet most of the preliminary negotiona are done through text and then once it gets more serious the phone are picked up. It would be a cool show if they just followed a GM around for a week before the deadline and gave fans all access on how it goes. I know we had "The Show" about our very own just wasn't as detailed as I hoped. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 08:53 AM) Just remember, The bust rate on top prospects in baseball is still 25-50%. Wow baseball is truly an amazing sport. All these guys with endless talent and still 25%-50% still bust out. Crazy. -

QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 08:59 AM) Texas is not trading Profar for Rios and Dunn. They would probably rather stand pat and look forward to see the offseason before doing that trade. Infact thats probably what they'll end up doing. I agree, although id be more than okay with being wrong and seeing us get him for those two. But I don't think there's any chance that happens. -

QUOTE (tylermichels13 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 08:57 AM) Yes, but if you had to choose... Which deal do u want the most? Personally I prefer the Cardnials, they are ranked as the top farm system and they just pump out homegrown talent like no other team. If we can get Martinez and Adams/Wong I'm more than happy. With that said my next preference is definitely Boston Xander has a chance to be a too player in the entire MLB. Personally I'm giddy at the chance we can get some of these prospects (tops in all of baseball) to stock the farm and watch some prospects develope. Keep going Rick! -
QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 08:30 AM) The reason that they are dangling Nathan is because they don't want to meet the price for Rios, so a deal of that nature seems unlikely. 'The Rangers appear to be trying every other avenue to avoid meeting the Sox price, calling other teams to pry away OF's and now putting Nathan out there to try and bring back a hitter. Obviously the team that could use Nathan the most is the Tigers, but I dont believe that they have the bat to give up to help out the Rangers, so they will need to come back to Rios. That's what I'm saying, reports are that they don't want to give up the prospects it would take to get Rios. So making a trade centered around Rios and Nathan and we bring in a 3rd team to turn Nathan around to for prospects. I agree I think Texas ends up with Rios I just don't see them giving up any decent prospects for him, this could be a work through. Det may not have that bat TX wants but they have prospects we are interested in and no doubt the would want Nathan.

QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 08:30 AM) http://www.suntimes.com/sports/21591548-57...ible-trade.html Key quote "Peavy is unlikely to make his scheduled start Tuesday. Sources said the Sox’ asking price is high, but Hahn is expected to get the kind of prospects he seeks because multiple teams are in the bidding." I'm liking the early trade winds, love hearing Hahn is asking for top prospects from each team, if we are able to get Xander (BOS), Bundy (BAL), Russel (OAK) that's a start of an amazing return all 3 of those guys are going to be legit stars. Personally like I said last night it will be Boston or St. Louis it just makes too much sense for these teams. I would like it to be STL Or Bos. Personally if we can get Martinez (size ?'s or not this guy has electric stuff, I see him as a Pedro Martinez type) and/or Adams or Wong + 2-3 prospects in the 15-30 range. I believe Hahn comes out on top and we will be talking about his first deadline in a few years when these guys are all hitting the field. -
I know that Texas is said to be dangling Nathan in order to attain their bat, however does any one else think we could work a 3-team trade out where Texas gets Rios, a 3rd team gets Nathan (Detroit, Boston, Atlanta, Pitt, Cards), and we get a package of prospects. That could really make things interesting if for instance we build a package for STL (Peavy, Nathan, Lexi) or Boston (Peavy, Nathan) Pitt (Alexi, Nathan, De Aza), ETc. Probably no chance of happening but it could def work and fill needs for all teams involved. I still just get the feeling Rios ends up in Arlington, ever since AJ came out a month or so and stated they wanted Rios.

Peavy to Boston, Avisail Garcia + 3 low lv specs to Sox

I think this tweet for gammons is telling A's not in on Peavy price(Gray, Russell & take on bearly $20M), ditto Boston, ditto Atlanta. Time running down https://mobile.twitter.com/pgammo/status/361675716460429312 It's ridiculous how much Gammons is used by Boston as a insider to leak information. So he has basically claimed today all 5 teams that were "hot" on Peavy have backed off because of $ and talent. This time of the year is always great for misinformation. I will say this though of all teams that have been reported today that were destinations, not much has come out of beantown, to me that is very telling. I think Boston and Rick are seeing who blinks first. IMO Peavy will either be a Card or will be changing his color of Sox. -

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 10:13 PM) I'm not sure. It's like a pack group think, if they hear others are backing out the more likely they are to back out to or make offers so low that Hahn has no choice but to refuse the offers. I hop e I am sooo wrong, but I thought from the beginning these GM would horde their prosepcts because baseball is cycling that way again. Big free agent contracts and veteran salaries are out of control and this is the backlash. I hear ya, I just don't think GMs are calling and discussing what they are offering or what they have offered. It may be considered collusion if they were plotting which level spect's to give up. Not to mention a lot of these teams are competing against each for a playoff spot and hopefully for a long October run, so I don't think we have to worry about that. Rick just has to give them the 10 yard stare and make them pay for a impact player. They're aren't many out there and we have just about one at every position, IF, OF, SP, RP, and even a CP if we decide Reed is expenndible. I still see us making out well. My prediction is Jake and Alexi to StL for a package of Wong and Martinez and a few lower level aspects with high ceilings. Rios goes to TX although I have a feeling Pitt may end up with him. And finally we part with Lindstrom to Boston. I do think you're right on with GMs hoarding spects with the way contracts are getting, but a GM get an itch around this time when they feel a WS trophy is a legit possibility. We sox fans have been on the other side of this more than a few times an know if a GM feels there's a guy out there that sets up for the last few months and October they will pull the trigger whether now or Wednesday. Just look at the Garza deal and dude has been on the DL a lot the past year or so. -

Royals no longer sellers The Royals will not be sellers at the deadline, Yahoo! Sports' Jeff Passan tweets Per MLBTR This is good news obviously. Takes another "frontline" starter off the market in Santana. I don't believe this nonsense about other teams backing off. They are testing Ricky boy. This is his first deadline and all eyes are on him to get a great package back. The FO knows the need to get impact players back that generates excitement for us fans. If we are trading away JP and others they need to make sure it doesn't hurt attendance. We just have to have patients Hahn is winning the staredown for now. Not to mention we need to get back a package as good or better than the Flubs got, it would be an epic failure if we dont for a contorlled pitcher like jake. He knows he has the cards and is playing them right. We have till Wednesday and although it sucks to wait for us. It only creates more leverage for us regardless of what the writers are saying. We don't have to move our guys, the teams interested need the players in order to make a Pennet run and a October run. I have a feeling by Wednesday we will all be praising Hahn for waiting it out. -
Looks like Boston has some interest in Lindstrom. http://www.mlbdailydish.com/2013/7/28/4564...ires-jake-peavy

Could be more misinformation, but this article claims the BoSox interest in Peavy isn't what it seems, they are just "kicking the tires". They are more interested in Lindstrom according to this guy. Take it for what it's worth this time of July. Also if anyone could provide a little info on the prospects they mentioned on Boston's side. http://www.mlbdailydish.com/2013/7/28/4564...ires-jake-peavy
