QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 17, 2014 -> 04:32 PM) I think the Cubs eventually sign Lester, but that guy is just winging it, hoping he gets lucky. I think that guy full of s*** Lester back to red sox.

QUOTE (scs787 @ Nov 11, 2014 -> 05:51 PM) If they refuse to give up one Wheeler/Syndergaard what would you guys think about Niese and Lagares? Is that even "less"? Niese is still youngish at 28 and would be a solid #3. Lagares is one of the best defensive outfielders in the league. NO! -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 10, 2014 -> 02:28 PM) Then you have not been paying attention. Uh huh. Right. Because slight fiscal limitations have stopped Illitch from spending money above and beyond before. mlb trade rumors not saying sox talking to vmart like blue jays and manriners are. -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 10, 2014 -> 01:25 PM) That's not the point. Why would the Mariners offer him $90 mill over 4 years? I mean, sure, if they did, they'd probably get him, but they won't offer him that much, so really, your "what if" is a moot and irrelevant point. I was proving to you how irrelevant it was by doing the same thing. Most people feel that the Sox are a team that is likely to go after Victor Martinez and he'd fill a very big need. We'll just have to see. I personally think he ends back up with Detroit, but we'll see in the next month or so. tigers have only 20 million to spend this offseason. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 9, 2014 -> 03:54 PM) But it's virtually impossible that Rodon would outpitch Samardzija this year in a 200+ inning season. If you're all in on 2015, Rodon isn't a middle of the rotation option. Im not giving up Alexei for shark or top prospect I rather get johnny cueto -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 9, 2014 -> 02:45 PM) I would think if the Sox actually traded for this dope, Alexei would be part of the package. Oakland needs a SS real bad for 2015. I wouldn't trade alexei for that bum. -

QUOTE (scs787 @ Nov 9, 2014 -> 12:30 PM) I'm sure it's not much of a rarity to trade and extend a player. What's so great about him? How about the fact that he ranked 15th in WAR last year. I'd give up a guy like Semien+. Johnson, Anderson, Rodon, Montas, Adams and maybe Danish are the only untouchables in the minors. A package of anyone else I'm game for. I wouldn't give up rodon no way rodon going be better then shark. -

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 8, 2014 -> 04:41 PM) If you trade for Samardzija and can't workout an extension during this off-season or mid-season, you can at least offer a qualifying offer next off-season while still trying to work out a deal for him to come back so you can at least re-coup something if he were to sign somewhere else from a potential deal. didnt Samardzija grow up a white sox fan. -
Mets/LAD/NYy interested in Alexei, according to Levine

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Nov 8, 2014 -> 03:19 PM) That's the bottom line. The Sox certainly can use Alexei and have no real need to trade him, unless that trade firms up several other weaknesses. If it doesn't, then keep him. I 100 percent agree with u we see what happens. -

QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Nov 8, 2014 -> 11:31 AM) You missed the point... Point is that initially after the trades, many people were unhappy and felt the Sox should have gotten more for Peavy. Just look back at the thread. Peavy was over valued by the fans. The same happened with Rios. Fans thought the Sox should have gotten for Rios despite Rios contract being a big albatross in relation to Rios performance. Rios was over valued by fans. Another example is go back and see how divided the John Danks trade rumors was. Half of the fans (my self included) did not think he was worth much at all because he too had an albatross for a contract in relation to his performance but the other half of the fans insisted Danks had some real value because of the contract which ends up not being the case. This was especially funny because the mentality is, trade him he sucks and then its, well he's still worth something decent in a trade, lmao. Danks was over valued by fans. Same with Hector Santiago. Fans were b****ing about how the Sox could have gotten more for a guy that was a two pitch pitcher and had a hard time finding the strike zone. Santiago was over valued. Back to Alexei. As I've already pointed out, he's 33, hits for average with average power in a hitters paradise. If the Sox ask for too big of a return, the other team can simply call the cubs about Castro, which does not bother me since I'm thinking the Sox keep Alexei anyway. If for some reason Alexei is traded, I assure you that I will be laughing at all the hooting and hollering about " the sox should have gotten more" comments. If they dont get big deal for alexei I wouldn't trade him -

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Nov 8, 2014 -> 01:47 AM) Not sure what you're getting at. Wheeler isn't a prospect. And based on results so far, he isn't elite either. That could change if he could fix his control. Could. If. Nice K numbers though. But, yea, I don't think they get an elite prospect like Pederson for Alexei. I take debrom or syndernard -

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Nov 8, 2014 -> 01:07 AM) They have about equal value. While Castro is signed for longer, it's not "team friendly" and that can swing both ways. Castro has a contract that has the risk of being a real albatross. Alexei's much older, but cozying up with Castro for 6 years at solid dollars isn't all that comfortable either. Sox absolutely could get a top prospect for Alexei. Not an elite one, but a top one (30-70 range). Same with Castro. then no zack wheeler -

QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Nov 7, 2014 -> 11:28 AM) Since the Mets are trying to find space for Snydergaard, I'll take a Wheeler for Alexei swap. I wouldn't i want more for alexei -
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Nov 7, 2014 -> 08:18 PM) First, I have no objection to flipping Viciedo for him. do I think that Viciedo has more upside. Yes, but he's yet to grab it. through c. 1700 at bats, Saunders has a career OPS of .685. Viciedo, with a similar number of at bats, is .722. Saunders is off of a career year (although with 1/2 season of at bats and some significant split differentials) so he may be on the upswing. I have no suggestion. I don't want rents, I don't want decliners, and I don't want to trade real assets for guys like Saunders who is okay but that's it. Switch him with Viciedo or something? Fine. Have to wait for a good FA class (terrible in the outfield this year) and for the farm to develop depth. Maybe Hahn can find an undervalued player like Eaton was in CF. How about this guy?
