QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 10:41 AM) Generally speaking, poor minority communities do not rely on the police. They strongly distrust the police. No one should rely on the police. The police are reactive, not proactive. If someone is going to break into my home and kill me and my girlfriend, the police won't stop them. The police will possibly start the process of putting the bastards away after the fact. But we'll be dead. What will keep us alive is the HK in my nightstand, the rifle in the closet and the shotty in the other closet. Maybe the 1911 or the Glock in the safe. That's what I rely on to keep my family safe. The cops? Ha. Let 'em show up afterwards and scrape the poor f***er's brains off the wall.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 07:25 AM) Sarcastic responses making fun of how dumb the studio/casting director was? Maybe a good laugh out of it? Allow me to explain. If this were, say, George Clooney being cast as the Gipper, I'd do exactly what you expected. Laugh and make fun of the director. Clooney's a goof who I totally disagree with, but I can put up with him. Heck, I'll even watch his movies. His liberalism isn't anything unforgivable. But Hanoi Jane is not that. She's not just some annoying, outspoken liberal. She is a traitorous b**** and I fully believe that in giving support to the VC, she cost many of my brothers and sisters their lives. If you disagree, fine, and if non-vet Repubs only hate her for her views, then whatever. For me, this is very personal. This feud will end when she's dead.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 27, 2012 -> 01:24 PM) Ok, yeah, so I'm posting this here to see if any of the Republicans literally break their computers. Please tell us on your new computer when you do so. Meh. Just another piece of Hollywood s*** that I'll skip. Reasons to root for the Naval Academy...when a plebe shouts, "Good night, Jane Fonda!", the entire company responds, "Good night, b****!" I bet the Queen of c***s doesn't do many commencement speeches in Annapolis.

Fine. Then I misread you and I apologize. But I'm not going to read every post in this thread and that particularly was vague enough to be interpreted in different ways. Whatever. The choice to shoot or be beaten to death? Some choice. I personally won't fault him for making the choice I'd make and would make 1,000 times again. Props to you for looking at the evidence. I honestly didn't expect so much out of you. Its sad that this is a partisan issue at all. A guy gets kiltled? Fine. Try the killer. The end. What needs to be partisan there?

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 08:03 PM) I never have endorsed lynch mob violence. I said that Zimmerman has to live with the ramifications, which include, him feeling responsible for the death of another. I would think that you, as a soldier, understand that even if you are absolutely justified in killing another human, that it can stick with you and it can change your life. Those are the consequences that I am referring to. Lynch mob violence is against the law and should be prosecuted to the fullest extent. Please find any time I support vigilante justice. Thanks. You said: That's not talking about his personal guilt. That's talking about the threat of vigilantes. And yes, we can stop that s***. Or at least punish the person responsible. If Zimmerman is acquitted, that's it. Anyone who takes his punisent upon himself will go to prison for a very long time. Sorry if that's not what you meant, but that's what it sounded like. Guilty thoughts? Yeah, all killers, justified or not, have to deal with guilt. But as for physical penalties, they answer to the law alone. Not to some madman. Also, no one forced him to fire? Umm, if as some evidence suggests, Zimmerman's head was being pounded into the concrete, then Trayvon forced him. But this is for the jury to figure out. That's the thing. I'm not a Zimmerman supporter. I'm a supporter of justice. True justice, not Al Sharpton justice. Give the man his trial. If he's guilty, he's caged for life. BUT THAT'S NOT OUR CALL. Also, I think it's idiotic to automatically assume that race is involved because a light guy shot a dark guy. The guy's not a freaking Klansman; supposedly, he's volunteered to tutor black youths. Either way, its totally possible that this was simply a tragic, unnecessary situation that spun out of control for reasons not at all related to skin color.

The Fate of the Buster - Looking for Input
The Sir replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in The Filibuster
Why wouldn't this forum be a mean place? Its full of people who hate each other. I'm not going to look at any of the resident statists and think kind thoughts. This sort of snark and nastiness comes with the territory. -

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 09:48 AM) You are right, I do truly feel terrible that the person who killed a 17 year old, is now dealing with the ramifications of that act. Its called personal responsibility. If you dont want to have to deal with the fall out of shooting someone, dont do it. No one forced Zimmerman to shoot, and whether or not hes justified, acquitted, found to be St. Peter, he still has to live with his own actions. If he is acquitted and other people want to break the law, there is nothing that society can do to stop them. So maybe he has to move to Canada, or maybe he just has to move to a different community. Either way, he has options. There are consequences for shooting someone else, even if it is entirely justified. This is atrocious. I really can't believe you're a lawyer. You're endorsing lynch mob violence. Seriously. Would you say the same thing about the death of Raymond Gunn? Or any other black Americans who were accused of crimes and murdered by mobs instead of delivered to justice? They killed people although it was never proven in court! There are consequences for killing people so f*** 'em, they got what they deserved. Does that logic really fly with you? Even more hideous, and please answer this...if I shoot an intruder, do his thuggee friends have the right to slaughter me? You, a "lawyer", just wipe your ass on self defense. Your post is ludicrous. I can't believe you could actually write that. And judging from the beliefs I believe you hold about other past events listed above, it's incredibly hypocritical. What a surprise.

Oh, another thing, since you want to mock my religious beliefs. Jesus said, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone". So the persecutors of Zimmerman really shouldn't run around quoting the Bible.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 14, 2012 -> 06:08 PM) I thought you were a man of God. God said "Thou shalt not kill" as it's one of the 10 most important things a Christian must abide by. George Zimmerman admittedly killed someone. Turned out to be an unarmed child. What commandment did the unarmed child break that day? Figured a devout Christian would be more up in arms about the evil act that Zimmerman committed as opposed to towing some political party line. But that's Christianity for you*! "The rules only apply when we want them to!" * As practiced by the far right Is it wrong to grant him a trial in a court of law and not in the court of public opinion? Is it wrong to think that racism had nothing to do with it? Is it wrong to think that posting an accused man's address with the hopes that vigilante justice would be administered makes you a criminal in your own right? Is any of this wrong? Am I celebrating Trayvon's death? Is supporting proper justice really equal to being a partisan thug? This post has been edited by the Soxtalk staff to remove objectionable material. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Mar 21, 2012 -> 07:46 PM) Hopefully this racist, douche bag vigilante gets what's coming for him. This post has been edited by the Soxtalk staff to remove objectionable material. Soxtalk encourages a free discussion between its members, but does not allow personal attacks, threats, graphic sexual material, nudity, or any other materials judged offensive by the Administrators and Moderators. Thank you. Is it too hard to wait for this guy's trial? If he's guilty, he'll be convicted and punished for his crimes. But the fact of the matter is that the affidavit from this so-called prosecutor, Angela Corey, is garbage. The evidence is that Trayvon Martin's mother says the screams were her son's? Which is contrary to what each of the witnesses on the scene said? And the affidavit doesn't even bother to refute the initial police report, it just ignores it. The affidavit seems more like an attempt for Corey to jump into politics as some sort of populist hero than an actual administration of justice. Even liberal law prof Alan Dershowitz thinks the document is bulls***. Can someone dig back to January 2007 and show me the thread where BS cries about how much of a racist Lemaricus Davidson is? Or is it only racism when non-blacks murder blacks? I guess racism wasn't involved when a group of people defended a purse snatcher from a white good Samaritan while chanting "Trayvon"? Hell, why does racism have to be involved at all? Why isn't it possible that George Zimmerman was legitimately trying to protect his neighborhood when he got into an encounter he shouldn't have been in and, even if he wasn't acting in self defense and is actually guilty of murder, that his actions were not determined by racial hatred? Why must he be tried in the court of public opinion by ignorant dickheads like yourself? As in any other criminal case, the guy deserves his day in court. What disgusts me most here is not that George Zimmerman is going to be tried; if the evidence is there, he deserves to be prosecuted. What disgusts me is that idiots all over the place are calling for his head. Mob justice has always been wrong, and the victims of lynch mobs in our history were not delivered to justice; they were murdered. And it's no different with the racial roles reversed. QUOTE (KG#1 @ Apr 8, 2012 -> 07:21 PM) I don't know . . . I think having a new regime without Walker is going to make a difference. Beckham already has looked a lot better (spring and in these three games) than last year. I think he ends up being closer to 2009 Beckham than 2011 Beckham. I hope he succeeds, no doubt. But when he has two horrible years versus one year of decency (don't forget, his average in 2009 wasn't anything amazing- it was .270) and then three games where he's 2 for 9, I'm going to have serious doubts about his potential. Also, a coach can cure, or at least give feasible advice to do so, a poor swing or poor technique, what have you. But playing dumb baseball, as in breaking for home with one out and the infield back before the ball even passes the pitcher, that needs to come from within. A new coach isn't going to cure that, and I see a lot of that s*** from Gordon.

Gordon Beckham makes me wish that we hadn't drafted anyone in 2008. I hate that guy with a passion.

QUOTE (Kid Gleason @ Nov 10, 2011 -> 07:12 PM) Has anybody brought up the fact that in the role that Joe Paterno was in, coach (teacher?), that he would have been a mandated reporter? His duty was much more than just telling his bosses. His duty was to report this to the proper authorities, which involves calling the proper phone numbers. Good ol JoePa(thetic) dropped the ball on what his profession required him to do. He is just one gigantic dolt. It's so nice of you to remember who the actual pedophile and monster is.
-
QUOTE (Kid Gleason @ Nov 10, 2011 -> 04:08 PM) Somebody on another board I go to, who works at Penn, says this is about to get MUCH worse. Take that for what it is worth. Which isn't much. But ya know, might want to brace ourselves for some uber-ugliness. Penn = University of Pennsylvania Penn State = Pennsylvania State University

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 10, 2011 -> 06:37 AM) The fact that people keep pretending that anyone has actually said this or that somehow people are making this out to be the case is all you need to know about how week the "Pro-Joe" position is. I don't think anyone is calling JoePa a child molester. But at the same time, we could do well to realize who the real child molester/rapist is. And that's Jerry Sandusky. While other people did indeed f*** up in this situation, Sandusky deserves 99.9% of the hatred and the anger here.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 9, 2011 -> 10:48 PM) Apparently, PSU students feel 8 year olds being raped and people being fired for knowing about and doing nothing about it is ok, as long as the man donates money for a library and coaches your team since Harry Truman was our President. Funny. I don't think that's OK. But that doesn't mean that I, like other students, aren't saddened by this scandal and this news. It's depressing.
-
Well, the flipped news van sure doesn't make us look good. They need to cut this s*** out right now. I'd say this is like any massive college (or youth) demonstration/gathering/protest/etc. A lot of people want to simply mourn the sad ending of a great career, and yet others come out just because they fancy the idea of causing trouble.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 9, 2011 -> 09:29 PM) Its awful dude, I feel really bad for you. The fan base, students and players did nothing wrong here and they will face incredible scrutiny and obstacles in the near future. I would say continue to wear your PSU gear with pride, its the only thing you can do. Thanks, dude. I read a FB comment from some clown the other day who criticized our holier-than-thou attitude, and told us that in spite of that, we are actually worse people than those at other schools. And I was just like, WTF? Is this what I have to put up with now? I didn't rape any children or fail to report someone else raping children. I'm not a worse person because of this. Just like I'm not a worse person for being in the same Army as guys like Calvin Gibbs, who led the "kill team" in Afghanistan a while back. f*** that noise.

As one of the resident Penn Staters, this is the saddest sports news of my life. I would comment more, but I'm really speechless. I think Sandusky is a monster who should spend the rest of his miserable life in prison, and I absolutely think JoePa should have done more. That doesn't mean I'm not shocked and dismayed by this news. The whole damn thing makes me sad and disgusted.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 6, 2011 -> 06:09 PM) Come on, this goes against the ideals of honor and dignity of every college, not just Penn St. This is a sick crime All I'm saying is that for as long as I've been familiar with the university, which is pretty much my entire life since my dad is also an alum, we've been very proud of our sense of honor and dignity. The athletes get good grades, we don't tolerate thuggery and punkishness, etc. These men, and supposedly their leaders, are not only good on the field, but they are good men off the field as well. That was always a big part of our shtick and this goes against all of that. As for being a sick crime, obviously I agree with you.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 6, 2011 -> 04:45 PM) I think this was one of those "bury this and hope it disappears" situations, because no matter what happened Penn St was going to look horrible. And as a Penn Stater, I'll be the first to admit that this goes completely against the ideals of honor and dignity that we claim to represent.

Occupy LA doucher and self-professed commie calls for the end of America "and everything it stands for". Because communism brought so much awesome s*** to people of the world in the past. This is why the left gets a bad reputation for anti-Americanism.

QUOTE (zenryan @ Nov 6, 2011 -> 04:20 PM) I dont see how the NCAA can punish Penn State on the field of play. Maybe a loss of scholarships because of lack of institutional control but it's not the current player's fault and future players shouldnt be punished because it didnt involve any players. Get rid of Paterno, the AD and whoever else that knew of what this guy did and maybe some loss of scholarships. Well, maybe my understanding of the USC situation is lacking, but didn't it mostly involve inappropriate rewards being given to players such as Reggie Bush? That doesn't really involve any of USC's current players, but they took the brunt of the punishment. I'm just saying it wouldn't be unprecedented (and again I may be uninformed about the full extent of USC's scandals) for NCAA to do something of that sort. AKA punishing Matt McGloin and Silas Redd and company for something Jerry Sandusky did years ago, however horrible it may have been.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 6, 2011 -> 04:13 PM) Frankly, I don't see how anyone can have an idea about the repercussions. If the reports are accurate, this is pretty much unprecedented for the NCAA. There could be punishment rules coming into play that have never been seen before. f***. Think we get some leniency if we offer to feed Jerry Sandusky to wild dogs?
