2013-2014 NFL Thread
QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 23, 2013 -> 01:59 PM) I think we could have been a top 15 scoring D still but still pretty bad in ypg given up. Why would the Bears D be any better under Lovie? I mean these are like 3-4 string guys we're running out there.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 23, 2013 -> 01:00 PM) How much stuff is there? And how valuable is it? I'm all about protecting yourself from unnecessary problems down the line, but realistically this guy is going to be doing some serious time. I think so long as you act reasonable and provide him notice of what you're doing you should be fine. What is serious time? The guy has a couple of cheap mattresses, a lamp and stand for it. A old tube TV and a stand for it. clothes/toiletries. That's about it.

So my unit may have a storage unit. If that is the case, I might be saved from a world of hurt. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Law/Legal Thread
QUOTE (Pale Hose Jon @ Dec 23, 2013 -> 12:04 PM) I have not posted on this site in years (only lurking) but reading this post brought me out of retirement. As an attorney who works at the highest volume landlord/tenant firm in Chicago I STRONGLY suggest that you consult with an attorney prior to taking any steps with his belongings or his tenancy. There are many attorneys who can represent you or at least provide you with advice in this area for little to no money. If nothing else, go to the 6th floor of the Daley center and see if you can get free legal advice from the legal assistance staff there. Committing an unlawful forcible entry and detainer can warrant both Civil and Criminal cause of actions. The City of Chicago could not be more tenant friendly, and there are more than enough attorney's who love representing tenants due to the numerous penalty provisions in both the city ordinance and state statute. BE CAREFUL. Disclaimer: The content of this post is intended for informational purposes only. It is not intended to provide legal advice or solicit business. I don't get how a person that is not even on the lease is afforded all of these rights. I have to pay for everything if he f***s up. We signed a gentlemens rental agreement that says when rent/utilities are due, and that we need to give each other 30 days notice for him leaving or me to kick him out. I'm not sure how legal kosher that is but seriously, that's a lot of rights afforded to someone that could seriously be my guest.

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Dec 23, 2013 -> 12:23 PM) I don't know. A world without his beautiful creations is a world I don't want to live in. I think my pops still has the one he took off a Vietcong he took out back in the days. He actually preferred that to his M-16. That's some treasonous s***.

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Dec 23, 2013 -> 11:49 AM) Mikhail Kalashnikov. By far the saddest loss of 2013. Yeah, whatever would have we done without the killing machines he created.

I am going to use his security deposit to pay for a storage unit and when that runs out, tough luck. Next time he calls, I'm going to get him to agree to that, (since the phone call will be recorded). I'll run it by his public defender too? At this point, if the law protects a criminal like him from a law abiding citizen such as myself, I am living in the wrong country. EDIT: Seriously though, he's not going to be paying rent to me and has already stuck me with this month's utilities. I really have no sympathy for him. Why the rental laws are walls of clusterf*** is beyond me.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 23, 2013 -> 09:28 AM) It is so aggravating to see how unprepared the team was in all three phases yesterday. Nobody came to play Yeah it was the epitome of a curb stomp. A meaningless game for Philly and one that could've helped Chicago tremendously.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 02:11 PM) Arguing over whether or not he was wrong to say what he said is pointless. It doesn't matter. He has a right to say what he wants and the network has a right to fire him. The end. /thread /topic

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 19, 2013 -> 07:00 PM) I would get a small storage locker for a couple of months and put his s*** in there. It would probably cost you less than $100, and that should be reasonable enough for him to get someone to pick it up. By then you should have a better idea of his fate. Take it out of his security deposit? I am really trying to avoid paying money out of my pocket because of his mistake. That just doesn't seem right. What seems right to me is calling the salvation army.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 19, 2013 -> 05:46 PM) Funny you mention this. My father a few years back had a massive heart attack in SW Michigan. The ambulance, hospital and helicopter crew all saved his life en route to Kalamazoo. The EMT's in particular saved his life in the first several minutes. Last year the township decided to cancel their service and use a neighboring towns private service as it was a cost savings. My father stood up in front of the entire town and told them his story. They voted overwhelmingly to cut the costs and cancel the service. Wow that's messed up. Those same people would try to sue if something went wrong because they got schmucks instead of professionals doing the job.

QUOTE (G&T @ Dec 19, 2013 -> 05:08 PM) The PD better talk to you or put you in touch with someone that can help. You don't have a real lease with this guy. The agreement might default to month to month. Talk also to your landlord and see what he thinks as long as you won't get in trouble. The rental agreement between him and I states it's month to month.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 19, 2013 -> 05:21 PM) You might wanna review your lease before you tell your landlord everything. There could be something in there that allows him to evict you, specifically in regards to subletting. He's a buddy of mine and already knows the situation. He's trying to stay out of it since I am the only one on the lease.

Craigslist. I didn't do a background check but from now on that is a priority. Do you think his public defender will talk to me? I'm a cheapskate and really would not like to hire a lawyer for this. He probably doesn't get mail at my place because this guy is a career criminal. Forgery x1 DWI x2 Impersonating a police officer x2 Aggravated DWI x1 I thought it was shady that he paid me with money orders. I typically have people to pay me via Venmo.

He really doesn't have a lot of stuff. He has two mattresses, a couple of huge plastic totes, a tv stand, a tv, and a lamp. I really don't plan on seeing this guy ever again. My beef is he still has the keys to this place so when he is released, he could pretty much come to the place. I am thinking of talking to my landlord about changing the locks but I probably should hold until January since he's technically paid until then. My lease is up in September and I'm most likely moving.
