QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 20, 2014 -> 04:29 PM) Maybe Lindstrom needed the work. He threw 8 pitches and will be available tomorrow night. Had Semien leading off Doesn't teach calling for pop ups Yanked Johnson after 87 pitches Put Rienzo in the game Put Lindsrom in for the 9th. Some of the RV complaints today. Sox win 16-2. Yeesh. Why can't people just enjoy the game? I enjoyed it enormously. I can make observations at the same time. Plus, I come from the background of being a football (soccer) fan, 90% of the fun is the seething hatred.

Great for the pythag record

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 20, 2014 -> 04:09 PM) White Sox fans are the only fans who nitpick the manager during a game they are winning by 10. Not a huge deal, just a continuation of the poor bullpen management. Leading by 14 in the bottom of the 9th, you shouldn't be running out your closer. It ought to be a perfect situation for Cleto, a chance to see what he can do and to work on his approach at the big-league level without any impact on our record.

He's going to put Lindstrom in with an 8+ run lead isn't he

Jose's hard hits starting to fall now

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 20, 2014 -> 03:55 PM) Rangers were down on Garcia happy to send him packing. With good reason I fear. Someone with that hit tool needs to defend like Sardinas does, not like Leury does.

Luis Sardinas feels more like a piece we should have got back for Rios than Leury Garcia

How long before Javy Guerra gets promoted?

QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Apr 20, 2014 -> 03:35 PM) Ya, De Aza isn't hitting 50 points better than Flowers Yeah that was some solid contact that should result in guaranteed long-term success. Down 1000 points in the bet though.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 20, 2014 -> 03:30 PM) ERA down to 11.00 And xFIP down to 3.95.

QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Apr 20, 2014 -> 03:17 PM) I think poor start should withstand in this case...he's been both supremely hittable and wild so he's not a high leverage guy until he gets his act together. However...taking EJ out right now? I don't get it at all. Maybe he's mildly injured? Re: Belisario, maybe. I think it's likely to be more a small-sample size thing. I'd rather see a couple of other guys in a 6-run game, but I see your point.

QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Apr 20, 2014 -> 03:12 PM) Johnson coming off his best inning at 87 pitches. Why would you give this pen an extra inning to screw it up? Weird, pen not too far removed from several heavy outings, 6-run lead. And also on paper one of the better pen arms (poor start notwithstanding) throwing in a really low-leverage situation.
-
QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Apr 20, 2014 -> 03:08 PM) That reminds me. Haven't seen much of Gallons lately. Got too disheartened by only being able to make enthusiastic puns in 20% of his at-bats

That's what the universe does to you for intentionally walking Jordan Danks

QUOTE (Hawkfan @ Apr 20, 2014 -> 03:00 PM) feeky, that thrown bat has to be an omen. that is not good. His BABIC (batting average on bats in crowd) is .000. Bound to go up for the rest of the year.
-
QUOTE (Hawkfan @ Apr 20, 2014 -> 02:52 PM) I'll take that bet Feeky. minimum of 100 more at bats going forward to protect from injuries. Done at 50 points. Out of curiosity, how many points would it take for you not to take the bet? Feel like I came on a little strong with 50.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 20, 2014 -> 02:45 PM) If you read my post again you will see I say De Aza currently sucks.. I don't think Flowers will hit better then De Aza all year.. They will both heat up and get cold a lot this year. And the point of BABIP is to show us how likely one is to "heat up" or "get cold". Anyway. Moving on.
-
QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Apr 20, 2014 -> 02:37 PM) I almost want to take that bet Do it! He'll definitely hit more, I think comfortably more, 50 points is a bit of a stretch but I think he'll do it.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Apr 20, 2014 -> 02:33 PM) And in the third game, Abreu returned. It's no coincidence that Jose Abreu is an anagram of Bear Jesus if you use his s twice and ignore his o.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 20, 2014 -> 02:33 PM) I didn't mean because De Aza's is at .154 means he sucks. I meant he sucks because I am watching him bat and currently he sucks 20 bucks says De Aza hits over 50 points better than Flowers between now and the end of the season

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 20, 2014 -> 02:25 PM) Jose's career average is .254. He is currently batting .254 with 6 home runs and 21 walks. I don't see how you are comparing him and De Aza? Bautista is currently batting how he always does and De Aza is doing horrible, striking out all the time. IF both their BPwhatever are close to one another that should show you how stupid that stat is. Well, De Aza's BABIP is .154 and Bautista's .209. Bautista's is still way below average. I was merely wondering if a low BABIP meant a player sucked, because you said De Aza's .154 "showed he sucks". All it shows is that Bautista is getting less hits than he should expect the way he's been hitting, and De Aza's been getting a lot less. That's not to say they're aren't legitimate issues with De Aza, who is walking less and striking out more. Although I do think it's funny how you note De Aza is striking out "all the time", when he's striking out more than 10% less than Tyler Flowers.
