  1. Watching Jose Quintana pitch after Felipe Paulino must be like what it was like watching Konrad Adenauer govern after... well... y'know
  2. Nieto won't kill us as the backup catcher and we get a decent prospect after the year from it. Garcia's fine as a bench player I guess but I'm disappointed that was the only return from Rios, as was said above his defence has to be better than it is given his hit tool. Downs looks done. Paulino is incredibly frustrating to watch but will, and probably correctly, be given time to harness his command, having thrown less than 40 innings at all levels since his surgery. I'm not holding my breath though, he looks awful.
  3. Jacob May is struggling big-time
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 12, 2014 -> 04:33 PM) The lack of quality pitching in the organization is scary right now. It's imperative that the #3 pick coming up isn't a bust. Hahn did a great job of finding some offensive starters for the next few years. In a way, it reminds me of how the Bears went from bad offense, solid defense to good offense and horrid defense. The good thing is it's the 5th starter/bullpen, way more easily solved than core pieces of the offence or frontline starters
  5. I love Rick Hahn and what he's doing, but boy has he/the scouting department missed with some of the bargain bin signings
  6. If our bullpen was a person, it would be Hitler
  7. With Leury Garcia's skillset, you really have to be a defensive whiz.
  8. Such a frustrating pitcher to watch
  9. Eaton's sprints to first on a walk are hilarious, the goof
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 11, 2014 -> 08:52 PM) I wouldn't be surprised if we see them give Mitchell some playing time at the major league level...or Thompson, just to see what they have the last two months if they're out of the race. Some are going to argue that Danks should be playing (everyday) instead, but it would be pretty surprising if the Sox went that route. You can also give them DH at-bats after/when/if you trade Dunn. Mitchell hit .174/.297/.275 last year at AA and then .132/.277/.170 at AAA. I'd be enormously surprised.
  11. Sweet Swingin' Conor Gillaspie!
  12. I reckon De Aza tends to look a bit guilty on his check swings, his technique to hold up the bat is very pronounced. If you didn't have a good sight of the bat and were guessing you'd probably say he went around on body language alone more often than not.
  13. Hands up who saw Tank drawing a walk there when he was down 0-2. *sits on hands*
  14. I love the ultra zoom on the K Zone trying not to show the empty seats around it.
  15. Gillaspie's defence has seemed better this season
  16. 8.18 bullpen ERA on the season
  17. Anyone else have a really good feeling about Abreu going yard there? I mean it helps that he goes yard like every 3 at-bats, but still
  18. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 10, 2014 -> 12:52 PM) Nonsense. If you get a good offer for them you just make the deal and play Danks in the OF. True I guess, but before it seemed inevitable because of one player too many, now it's merely a possibility contingent upon receiving a good enough offer.
  19. The Jake Peavy curse continues. Obviously the biggest worry is Avi, but I guess De Aza and Viciedo are here for the year now. Certainly haven't had much luck with the trade candidates between some playing like s*** and being forced to keep others.
  20. Torn labrum. Season-ending surgery. God dammit.
