  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 22, 2012 -> 10:51 AM) Preventing a run from scoring is as productive as driving in a run. Ask Peavy about runs, I'm sure he'd like to have a few that Ramriez and Gordon replacement MIGHT have produced! How many runs have Ramriez and Beckham produced during one Peavy's losses solely based on their defense?
  2. QUOTE (YASNY @ Aug 22, 2012 -> 10:42 AM) This is so wrong. Pitching and defense wins championships in baseball. Hell, defense wins championships in almost any sport. Besides that, a baserunner prevented and an out registered is equal to getting on base in the offensive side of the game. Pitching is at the plate. I knew I should have said mound.... If you cannot produce runs and have s*** pitching you do not win games solely on defense. You guys can't say that. Beckham and Alexei are not winning us games solely on their defense!
  3. Buehrle a standing ovation? Nah, don't care about people who want to leave the team.
  4. I don't quite get why everyone on here defends the likes of Alexei Ramirez and Gordon Beckham. They're replaceable. Regardless of their defense. The game is won at the plate.
  5. Glad he didn't swing at that, knew it was coming again.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 28, 2012 -> 04:14 PM) Why? He's under contract, affordably, for a number of years. If we happen to already have his replacement in the system in Saladino, then there's a better chance his replacement would be traded than there is that Alexei would actually be replaced. Why? I can probably make an entirely too long of a post explaining "why." People on here talk about trading Adam Dunn and Jake Peavy while they look good and you can still get something for them. Well, I see the same thing with Alexei, trade him while people still remember he is a great defender.
  7. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 28, 2012 -> 03:26 PM) The problem is that trading Ramirez right now is that his defense has been so important (missing the tag on Zobrist notwithstanding just now) and he's been showing signs of life offensively as well. We all know by now the Cubans hit much better in the summer heat. And we're not going to get a major league ready SS back, so that would force Escobar/Lillibridge into the line-up. Perhaps, down the line, Saladino can stick there, but he's at least 1 1/2 seasons away from being ready (August/Sept, 2013), and that's being pretty optimistic. I realize Alexei has great defense. People forget he is already 30. Not much of an upside left, it's time to start thinking of a replacement. If not now, then next year.
  8. Do something about Alexei Ramirez. His run is over.
  9. Eh, I don't mind Hawk. But I can understand why some people want him gone. Every home run call feels like the Sox just won the world series in the bottom of the 9th. His shtick-coma gets old
  10. Knew Santiago was going to let one go. Too many deep ones.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 6, 2012 -> 01:49 PM) Do other teams laugh at the Sox for having a guy like Lilly on the roster? Or is he serviceable. He hit some bombs a year ago. But he sucks currently. Tied for first in steals in the AL, if that's any consolation...
  12. 24 pages, can't read it all, but i'm sure someone made this comment Is Nestor Molina ready yet to take Sale's spot? :P :P
  13. It's crazy to think by the end of this month he'll probably have the same or more home runs than all of last year. Glad to see things clicking for him.
