  1. QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Dec 10, 2012 -> 08:22 AM) You know that's two guys, right? He wants their offspring
  2. Im happy his OBP is just slightly lower than Rios when hes only hitting .208. Oh and the fact hes leading the majors in bombs thats always a good guy to have on the squad. The fact he is hitting LHP is crazy compared to how atrocious he was last year against it.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 01:02 PM) Pennant chase would have been ridiculous to watch too. And 38 HR, 1.217 OPS for Frank Thomas when it ended, he was on pace for 50+. Possible MVP season for him and Griffey was KILLING it also that year.
  4. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 12:54 PM) I think 5 of 15 is a really good system. You don't want too many teams qualifying for postseason. It's better to have more teams chasing the last spot than just letting them in. If it's 6 or 8 per league, it's almost every over-.500 team. That's too many, and I don't think MLB or the players even want to go there, because they don't want byes and they don't want to shorten the regular season. I agree baseball has a very long season anyways and making it longer would not work so they would have to cut into the regular season. I personally would not like to see this happen. I like that they added a 5th team but would not like to see anymore spots added for that reason. I really didnt like the expansion of the 5th team at first, but now I see how competitive baseball has become for those top teams in each league and it is more important to win the division now. IMO
  5. I agree with everything your saying but you have to remember the shift takes away alot of base hit opps and by shortening up his swing he would probably hit the right center gap more but the CF is out there just hanging out. I agree he should change some things but in the later half of the season which is now he should not. I know the BA is low but by changing things now we could see him struggle more and we cannot afford Dunn to drop his average far below the mendoza line.
  6. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 12:14 PM) A lot can happen seven weeks from now. There could be teams playing 3 days in a row in different cities, and have to use their 5th starters in the playoffs unless they go short rest for somebody. I like that the non-division winners have a tougher road to the championship, although I'd rather they get rid of divisions and have the 4th and 5th best teams play to get in. That would be a great way for the playoff system to work but why stop there. the 1 seeds get a buy and throw another wild card team in there. Cant change the playoff system in baseball enough. Right now a third of the baseball teams from each league get into the playoffs. Never really thought of it that way but if your in the top half of your league (NL/AL) you have a really good shot at making the playoffs. Lets hope the sox are one of those 5 teams this year.
  7. 1994 WS whitesox vs Expos man that would have been nuts! Montreal might still have a team if that strike would have never happened
  8. QUOTE (Lillian @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 10:10 AM) It still seems to me that he would benefit by trying to do whatever he could to make better contact. As strong as he is, balls are going to leave the yard, without his having to take such a long swing. He doesn't need to hit the ball 450 feet. He just needs to hit it long enough to clear the fense. Barry Bonds, used a light bat, choked up on it, and we know how that worked out. Why not try a similar approach? Every time he strikes out, and fails to make contact, he reduces the odds of hitting a homer to zero. Wouldn't it make more sense to concentrate on making contact? A good portion of Dunn's swings and misses could result in home runs, if he could just put the bat on the ball. I like the idea of this but you have to remember Bonds was not always as HUGE as he was. He was a guy who hit .298 for a career. He was a fast guy when he played for PIT as well instead of only a home run threat. I think Dunn also has more natural strength than bonds did and a lighter bat is not always better for a bigger guy. If anyone on the team really needs to use a smaller lighter bat it would be Beck. I do like the idea just dont know if the results would be the same for Adam
  9. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Aug 15, 2012 -> 04:18 PM) I think we need a good four to five more pages covering whether or not Robin will manage 25 years with the White Sox. Only then will we really get to the bottom of this. couldnt agree more. Anyways back to this AJ situation. Realistic he gets a lifetime contract? no. Come on I love AJ and used to be one of his biggest haters as well. He has done alot for the orgainization, but has played for a division rival in the Twins and also for the Giants as well. This is ridiculous to think he would get this contract. He may get 2 more years for 6-10 mil per year just because he is great this year. Seriously though lets get off he D*** and realize he did still play for the Twins and this will not happen for the alone. He has been wearing black and white for 8 years I believe. That is not worthy of the contract either. Honestly there are maybe 3 athletes I can think of that would deserve this. Mo Rivera, Tom Brady and actually thats all I can think of at this point in time.
  10. With this lineup and with JorDanks coming off a walk off night do you think we could see him come in as a late game replacement for DV? Danks is playing well in the OF as well or seems to be comfortable with the team as a whole. Really liking what I see out of that guy for the most part since his call up. The bunt is the only bad thing that has really stuck in my mind
  11. Looks like we would either recieve him (plus his contract), Give them someone in return or they could pull him back making him unavailable for the rest of the offseason to be traded. This is if he gets to us on waivers. He is only making 1.2 mil this year so its not to much and Im sure we wouldnt have to pay the entire 1.2 mil. I would love to see him picked up by us. One of few Royals players I actually did not mind back in the day when he played there.
  12. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 9, 2012 -> 12:39 PM) Wouldn't it be great if Dunn could hit for an average above his Mendoza line. Don't get me wrong I love his rebound in homers and RBI's but there is no excuse for striking out as much as he does or not going with the pitch more. He could have a 100 RBI's by now I bet. The fellow can carry the team for a couple weeks with the way he can hit the homer think what he might do if he could just hit the ball a bit more regularly for base hits. I think he has the right attitude though and is not a selfish player at all I agree that it would be great to see him swing for contact more but that just is not what we pay him to do. I would love to see him try and even hit the ball out of the park to left more but it seems like his hands are just so much slower than when he was with Cinci and the Nats. I think he will adjust his swing in the offseason and lower his hands. Major league players shouldnt change everything during the season because mechanics take to long to fix. I would love him to change the swing but if hes hitting under the mendoza line and still leads the league in BB and HR I cant complain because thats what he is paid to do. Last year he was not walking like he is this year. BA doesnt matter to a guy like Dunn but thats all fans see.
  13. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 11, 2012 -> 05:24 PM) How about a good old fashioned ass kicking tonight? 8 runs in the first few innings, tack on a few more....Liriano 7 good innings. Id be suprised if he threw 7 but and ass kicking I am all for sir
  14. Did I read Aviles on waivers. Perfect player for the sox to get. decent bat, can play middle infield and 3rd then you keep Wise and JorDanks up. Send Rey down and tell Odawg sorry man you just are not the guy you used to be. Tflow should have been moved 1-2 years ago when he still had a little worth, but he is a cheap back up make 483,000. I mean IMO he calls a pretty good game behind the plate and plays D pretty well. Hitting wise I would say way below who we thought he would be. What happens if we dont resign AJ. Is TFlow going into spring training the #1 catcher?
  15. Is it just me or does Liriano just wear that Sox uni well? Went to the last game he pitched when he was hit in the leg. I was out by the Frank statue checking it out with a buddy who had never seen it before. Seems to be okay and he did finish that inning when he was hit. Looking forward to a possible pitching duel with these two left handers.
