  1. I hate this. I think he should go. The clown-like base running alone is an indictment on the coaching staff. If a season like this doesn't result in being fired what does?
  2. Oh, by the way, sat in row 10 behind the 3rd base dirt and Morel's defense was terrible. In my opinion he was responsible for the first 3 Braves runs; a botched grounder, then he backed up on a grounder which cost him time resulting in Gordon getting steamrolled at second which broke up the double play and then Uggla hit his two run homer. Then he oh-layed a hot smash which resulted in the 3rd run. Not good.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 10:16 PM) Good job, Harold. Baseball is for wide-eyed little kids. Hope it was a memorable day for your grandson and you. Out of curiosity, how much did you spend on the little fella? One hotdog, one cotton candy, two Cokes in the heat, one hat could set you back about 50 bucks I'm guessing. When I was a kid my granddad took me to a ton of Cub games, yes Cub games. He was a Cub fan and I was the only one who would go with him as I loved baseball and as a little kid was enthralled by the scoreboard and ivy. Thankfully my dad had Sox season tickets for many many years and I went to way more games of the good guys on the South side. I probably spent about 40-50 bucks. He's only about 10 months old, so I bought him a Sox hat and a Sox Sock Monkey. Great day at the game!
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 09:17 PM) When did he gain 20 mph on that pitch? Ha, you're right, I should have said 45 mph
  5. I was at the game (took my grandson to his 1st Sox game ~ have to help raise him right!) and met Shingo on the concourse. He was with his translator and I shook his hand, it was loads of fun. I bet he could still flip the frisbee up there at at least 75 mph, although he did bounce his first pitch about 6 feet in front of home plate, so maybe not.
  6. I thought (and it still could be) the Liriano pickup was genius by Kenny, but I have a hard time seeing the Sox invest too much $$ in him this offseason, with his performance. His control has been downright awful. I hope that he decides to dominate the rest of his starts, but we'll see. I guess I'm just disappointed, it didn't seem that his control was THIS bad, but I only watched him against us and we have a habit of making even minor league lefties look like all-stars.
  7. I don't usually complain too much after a loss, but this was a terrible game. Everything was bad. We couldn't get runners in, we couldn't make pitches when we needed to. YUCK. Sometimes you just look bad. The only thing that really baffles me is why everyone capable of bunting didn't lay one down the third base line. Cabrera looked like he could barely walk (at least on defense). Keep doing it until they can defend it. Oh well, there's probably a reason, I'm typing on my computer right now and Robin is addressing the media, right:) That's all for me. GO SOX!
  8. Nothing makes a team look worse than losing. It is so frustrating, but I believe in this team. I don't believe in the Tigers pitching (outside of Verlander) or defense. Let's go Sox!
  9. Those 3 are automatic outs right now. Hope they prove me wrong.
  10. Not to pile on Matt, but is there a stat for hits given up when a pitcher has 2 strikes on a hitter? I've never kept track, but he seems to have no trouble getting up 0-2, or 1-2 in the count, but just cannot put the hitter away. Fastball at 95 rather than 97 with no breaking stuff is probably a major part of his problem.
  11. Thanks Jake for proving me wrong! Great outing and always great to beat the Twins, especially up there.
  12. A little late but it sure seems like Jake has a little of the Johnny Danks syndrome going. He just can't hold a lead. He pitches good, just not good enough to win. C'mon Jake, prove me wrong today!
  13. Hi there, 1st post, so here goes. I've thought for a while that Kevin Millwood makes too much sense. Right now with Sale, and Q exceeding the most innings they've ever pitched and Peavey coming back from a never-happened-before in baseball injury, we need a guy that takes the ball, throws innings and keeps us in the game. Seems like Millwood has consistently done that and probably could be had for very little since he's obviously not part of Seattle's future. Just my thought. Great to be here.
