Even though this isnt a gameday thread, just updating the score of game 4 between Marlins, Giants. Marlins 7, Giants 5. In the bottom of the 8th. If the Cubs make it past the Braves they might just cruise into the World Series.

Thanks for the reality check. I wasnt sure about their free agency situations or current salaries. If Gordon and Sullivan both leave KW needs to sign some good relievers to take their place. So many holes to fill before next season......
-
After reading the comment made about Rhodes being a free agent, I was compiling a list of a bullpen scenario in 2004. If Colon isnt resigned, how much of a possibility would it be to have...... Arthur Rhodes (who carries a 3.5 million salary) Demaso Marte Flash Gordon Scott Sullivan Kelly Wunsch Billy Koch Scott Schoenweiss (if not given a 5th starter spot) Danny Wright (long relief) Theres more, I just ignored all the minor league bums who came up during the year.

Bernie Williams.........old, slow, no power, prone to injury. Bernie earns 12 Million, but with the subtraction of David Wells and Clemens the extra 3 million for Beltran should be easy to come up with.

I remember hearing this joke last summer when I was in Cancun for our senior class trip. We were at a restaurant and some form of animal balls were on the menu; so somebody asked about it. The waitor told the joke with broken English and nobody laughed. But today, with the ouch story in mind, its funny as hell.

Steve, I'm almost positive (without testing it out) that it hurts to have your balls squeezed. But your right about it now being enough to kill him. If he was really unconscious after his wife knocked him out then the lack of oxygen from the scarf being tied around his neck probably killed him. It only takes a few minutes of no oxygen to the brain to cause death.

I hate stories like this. I feel the same way as I did when I heard of the whole loranna bobbit story. Granted I was younger but I still got the message. This kind of s*** gives women ideas; we all know how dangerous a women with ideas can be. First they wanted to vote.......then they wanted to work.......then they want to get paid the same as men....now they are enforcing their kung fu grips onto our balls. IT NEVER ENDS!!!! A certain Simpsons episode comes to mind where a hawk was pecking on Moes junk and pecking on his face. He was like "Peck on the face, peck on the face!!! Wow, this actually feels good compared to the crotch." To sum it up....stay away from that area if you plan on inflicting pain.

Britain would not broadcast this stunt if it wasnt 100 percent sure it would go right. Im sure the BBC realizes that millions will tune into this program for the chance to see this guy blow his head off and will probably exploit the audience. If its anything like American television they will spend an hour and 58 minutes teasing the audience then take 2 minutes to preform the Russian Roulette. This is how the show will go down: BBC wil show a close up of his face sweating with ominous music playing in the background. Then as his hand slowly pulls the trigger you will hear a click. After the tension is over he will repeat it several more times until he fires the live round harmlessly into the air. Thats if the bastard didnt screw up, then hes f***ed. If you were wondering what this guy does, look at his occupation: psychological illusionist. Im dont know anything about guns, but a 348 Smith and Wesson was probably not picked at random. Another thing, does this sound like a quote of somebody who may kill himself: "The drama will not come from the gun part, but from the fun and games and entertainment that comes from the selection process."

For 6 million the Sox could afford him. Ichiro probably feels more comfortable over in Seattle and would try anything to stay there. b**** at me for stereotyping, but Asian players have alot of devotion to their teams. If anyone is thinking of some sort of ichiro/Maggs trade then I say :finger to that. Only relevant categories that Ichiro is better then Maggs is in total hits (212 to 192) and Stolen bases (34 to 9). Stat that surprised me the most is how Maggs has a higher OBP over Suzuki. (.380 to .352) Maybe the only way I would approve a Ichiro for Magglio trade if they threw Hasegawa into it.

Even though this article points out Bartolo has time to decide, I believe he is long gone. The part where his agent says Bartolo is going to stall Chicagos efforts to negotiate by going to the Dominican Republic troubles me. Whats to think about: either you want to be part of this team or not. Bartolo may realize the direction this team is going from this year on. But more then likely he wants more money plain and fricken simple. Our offer of 36 million for three years might not be in his plans. Im sure this will pale in comparison to Boston and New Yorks offers; especially New York.

I know BMR had some post dedicated to this topic earlier this week. Its just different for Sox fans living in (or around) Chicago because you just grow up to either take allegiance to Sox or Cubs. Living in Boston or Canada is not as if your presented with that choice. To add to this inner city rivalry is how one team never seemed to be better then the other for a consistent period. Look at the amount of time between post season appearances for Sox/Cubs. Its never a lock that either one of them will make it to the postseason; even when the moment arrives it always ends in heartbreak. This is so much different from the situation in New York: Yankees are good, Mets suck. Its been like that for years over there(besides 2000). Now which bring me to our situation today. To see both of our teams go far into the season with a chance for postseason play and have the Cubs prevail is heartbreaking. I love Chicago first and foremost, but I will not root for the Cubs just because it has "Chicago" in front of it. If the cubs make it to the WS it will draw attention away from the casual baseball fans in this city that root for the Sox. Sox need the Cubs to fail just as much as we do. The hardcore fans might be the only ones left if the flubs make it all the way to the big show.

Even though KW would never admit jealously or hatred towards the Cubs he has to be feeling it right now. This town was all Cubs even before this year began, and now with the Sox collapse and Cubs doing well in the playoffs he has to be feeling the pressure. Not only does he have to put a quality team on the field next year, but has to keep the fragile Sox fanbase happy. If he trades big names like Thomas or Ordonez then the interest of the casual fan is lost. Many of those people dont understand that trading these marquee players will be better for our club. As Kw said, your not going to win a championship with a team full of sluggers. As I write this Atlanta has one man on with no outs in the bottom of the 8th. Time for a damn rally. :fthecubs -
No......as long as this man doesnt find out.
-
Green bay is officially back on track. Thats all the need to get them going, a game with the bears.
-
Wait till it becomes even more of a blowout, then madden will start praising the Cubs. Looks like alot of empty seats from some of those camera shots.
-
WHAT THE f***!!! Did anyone believe that booker would of ran that for 11 yards even if he caught it.
-
Kordell, leading the team in 1st downs and rushing yards. And the refs gave us that first down.
-
What the f*** is Schoop doing throwing a quarterback keeper now. More of a move to use in the red zone.
-
Green with an interception. Too late for me, even if it is early in the second quarter.
-
I wish I had a picture of the guy ABC showed before they went into commercial. Exactly how I look typing this
-
Oh god, Maynards punt blocked. And theres some much time left in this game.
-
The boos have started....
-
Green tearing us apart. Here comes another TD
-
5 yards still better then the 15 he would of picked up from that pass.
