I would think you have to keep an all,star c Contreras, and Bryant, and probably either one of Russell or Baez. I think Rizzo and Schwarber are expendable from a pure baseball non p.r. perspective.

I want to see them trade Happ, Russell or some combination of their young talent base at the deadline, lose in the first round of the playoffs and see Machado walk in free agency.

looking at his stat line in 17, I’m not sure this guy is an upgrade to Thompson or Engle given those two can at least not embarrass you in the OF.

All those guys are still a few years away though. Engel is not a big league hitter. I hope that they sign a stop gap veteran next year-a Jon Jay type.
