  1. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 08:23 PM) Quintana threw him a cookie knowing he was up 7 runs. Still a dinger. I want to see Miggy win another Triple Crown. That would be quite the accomplishment. Back to back triple crowns, and more likely than not, back to back MVPs.
  2. Surprise, surprise, Miggy goes yardo.
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 08:05 PM) We should try to get Alburquerque AND Garcia/Dirks for Crain and Thornton (Coke has been spotty too, with Smyly probably their best overall performer behind Scherzer and Sanchez)... I don't see the Tigers moving Al Al, as he's a bullpen arm.
  4. Ayala singled in his 4th at bat, but was caught trying for two. Finishes the day 1-for-4, keeping his average at .250.
  5. Dayan Viciedo's home run ties it up, but the Tigers have Hunter, Cabrera, Fielder due up to hit in the bottom of the 6th.
  6. Matt Tuiasosopo takes Jose Quintana deep. Tigers up 1-0 after 5.
  7. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 7, 2013 -> 07:20 PM) Who knows. I'm sure they wouldn't be deliberately sabotaging him, given the investment they put in him. There must be something going on -- maybe lots of side work, maybe a nagging injury, discipline, tough to say. Hmm. I saw him around two weeks before he was going to head out to Bristol. I don't think it's an injury...he has struck out a lot this year, but that still doesn't explain why he sat out the first 2-3 games.
  8. Ayala has gone 0-for-3 today, reaching on an error, flying out to right, and grounding out to second. On the plus side, he threw out another runner. He's now thrown out 5 of 8 potential basestealers.
  9. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Jul 6, 2013 -> 05:56 PM) How is Ayala supposed to develop if he dose not play everyday? No idea. He's appeared in less games (5) than Stoner (7), Parent (6), and the same number as Rosario (5).
  10. Bristol Sox trail by one in the bottom of the 8th. Singles by Hall, Thomas, Palmeiro, Thomore, Earley, and Ayala. Ayala has also thrown out a potential base stealer.
  11. Bristol game was resumed, finally....Ayala with a base hit in his first at bat
  12. Sox needed to do that. Their catchers have been terrible at the dish.
  13. Bristol looks like they might be rained out....again. Good ol' Appalachian League.
  14. I'm surprised Ayala didn't play today. He went 3-for-5 yesterday, and is now hitting .308. Instead, they started Stoner behind the dish, hitting .083 with Thomore at DH. Thomore went 1-for-3 last night, raising his batting average to .048.
  15. Ayala went 3-for-5 today.
  16. Well, this play looks to threaten the Mark Sanchez buttfumble in the Worst of the Worst.
  17. I think that play is a great representation for this season for the Sox.
  18. Sammy Ayala got his first hit of the 2013 campaign - a 2 RBI line drive single to right field. He struck out twice, and lined out to center.
  19. QUOTE (Dizzy Sox @ Jun 23, 2013 -> 02:00 AM) You are joking, right? He had a strong debut last year, has been struggling for all of two months, and yet still has the best hr/pa ratio in high a ball as a 19 year old. He has some big red flags for sure, but to NOT have him near the top of a thin system would strain all credibility. I'm with you...you could make a case for having him at the top. He definitely shows some potential, but has his fair share of weaknesses too.
  20. Let's see if I can follow this Quentin trade outcome. The initial trade was Quentin for Simon Castro and Pedro Hernandez. Hernandez was traded 7 months later with Eduardo Escobar for Francisco Liriano. White Sox receive: LHP Simón Castro - from San Diego on December 31, 2011 LHP Pedro Hernandez - from San Diego on December 31, 2011 - traded on July 28, 2012 LHP Francisco Liriano - from Minnesota on July 28, 2012 - contract ended White Sox trade: OF Carlos Quentin - traded to San Diego on December 31, 2011 LHP Pedro Hernandez - traded to Minnesota on July 28, 2012 2B Eduardo Escobar - traded to Minnesota on July 28, 2012 Essentially, the Sox traded Quentin, Hernandez, and Escobar for: Castro - who hasn't pitched in the majors yet... Six months of Hernandez - just one horrible start in the majors with the Sox Two months of Liriano - he was 3-2 with a 5.40 ERA with the Sox
  21. Just found this photo posted by the Bristol Sox on Facebook. Angel Rosario doesn't appear to have a very pretty swing.
  22. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jun 22, 2013 -> 08:35 PM) 4 walks in 2 games. I think the Zews of Walks is pretty fitting. Everyone remember Euclis: The Greek God of Walks (Kevin Youkilis)? Unfortunately, Michalczewski's name is not pronounced the way that you would like it to be...How about Mikalchev: The Walk Doctor?
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 22, 2013 -> 06:08 PM) They seem well managed, would you agree? I would totally agree. Bud Black has done an outstanding job with what he has. If they can keep it up, Josh Byrnes might be buying at the deadline. They're all set in the bullpen, but might be in the market for another starting pitcher or a good middle-of-the-order bat.
  24. Ayala did not get off to a great start - 0-for-4, struck out three times, and grounded into a double play. Hoping this isn't any indication of how he'll do this year.
  25. Believe it or not, the Padres are now in second place in the NL West.
