June 25, 201312 yr http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?s...mp;ymd=20130625 Anybody have the baseball prospectus top 50 list they posted today? Interested to see if Hawkins or E. Johnson cracked the list.
June 25, 201312 yr Author QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 04:30 PM) Kind of a bummer Johnson didn't make it, but not a surprise. I'm surprised to be honest. He has some of the best numbers in the minors.
June 25, 201312 yr QUOTE (Dunt @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 05:53 PM) I'm surprised to be honest. He has some of the best numbers in the minors. This is the thing you should remember with prospect lists. No matter how good someone performs...the guys making those lists play favorites. Not necessarily even on purpose; they go to see teams they believe are loaded and they like guys who others like.
June 25, 201312 yr Author I've noticed that trend Didnt they not even have Sale ranked a few seasons ago?
June 25, 201312 yr QUOTE (Dunt @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 06:02 PM) I've noticed that trend Didnt they not even have Sale ranked a few seasons ago? Probably a good reason for that...Sale was brought up and became a big league contributor very rapidly and as a consequence was never in the minors long enough to be considered a "prospect". He used up his eligibility as a rookie when he was called up right after being drafted.
June 25, 201312 yr Totally. Which makes the crap we get for our system funnier. We never get credit for Sale. Not trying to say our system is the greatest but I'd bet the majority of systems would like to trade their graduates of the last few years for ours. (Sale, Reed, Jones, maybe Hudson). Everybody wants a Chris Sale.
June 25, 201312 yr QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 05:11 PM) Totally. The crazy thing is that Chris Sale could have been making his major league debut right about now, and it wouldn't have even been strange. Instead we have about three full years worth of major league time out of him.
June 25, 201312 yr QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 06:16 PM) Micah Johnson tripled in first AB, Anderson K, Barnum single Bring him up! Bring him up!
June 25, 201312 yr QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 05:38 PM) Looks like Chris Beck got injured today, as he only went .2 innings. That could really blow. Hope it's not serious.
June 26, 201312 yr QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 26, 2013 -> 12:38 AM) Looks like Chris Beck got injured today, as he only went .2 innings. Might have pulled him because he was awful -- three hits and three walks. Got the first two outs -- then nada. Edited June 26, 201312 yr by winninguglyin83
June 26, 201312 yr Author Tim Anderson off to a hot start at 0 for 3 today, but atleast he is cutting down the K count
June 26, 201312 yr I hope Hawkins enjoys his second full year in Winston-Salem better than the first.
June 26, 201312 yr QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 26, 2013 -> 02:14 AM) I hope Hawkins enjoys his second full year in Winston-Salem better than the first. He just doubled, there's going to be a parade for him on Friday Edited June 26, 201312 yr by fathom
June 26, 201312 yr I'd agree with Johnson not being in the top 50. If he puts together an entire season of this, plus maybe 1/2 good showings in spot starts with the sox, he'll be 50-60 next year.
June 26, 201312 yr QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 07:17 PM) 2-0, 3K for Danish I hope he's promoted to Great Falls by the time I get to see them next month.
June 26, 201312 yr Sammy Ayala got his first hit of the 2013 campaign - a 2 RBI line drive single to right field. He struck out twice, and lined out to center. Edited June 26, 201312 yr by jthunder93
