White Sox cuts, round 2
A lot of overhype here about Hawkins. If he tears up AA and AAA then he'll be in for a September call up. Trayce Thompson also had a good spring and i'd expect to see him before Hawkins. They also seem keen on Beltre as well. If the injuries get really bad and we don't explore waivers or trades, then you may see Hawkins but reality is that he's still got time to prove himself and time to get ready for the majors in AA and AAA and it may hurt him more to call him up before he is ready like we did with Beckham.

The 25-man right now
QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Mar 25, 2015 -> 05:02 AM) They'd have to add shuck right? Who else? Penny I guess. What's it even at now 39 or something? 40 man roster is at 40. Jones will hit the 60 day DL which will take it down to 39. Assuming they go ahead with the following and there is strong indication that they will, then they need to find space for Albers, Micah Johnson, Soto and Penny. Shuck is already on the 40 man roster. So by my reckoning they need to trade or DFA 3 people off the 40 man roster.

Surkamp on trading block, roster moves coming
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 23, 2015 -> 10:36 AM) Related to adding spots for Kottaras/Soto, Brad Penny, Micah Johnson and Matt Albers. One is going to be Nate Jones transferring to the 60-day DL. So, along with trading Surkamp, they'll need to make at least two more roster moves...theoretically. What are those moves going to be? We have too many random relievers on the 40 man, so I would expect Maikel "No Control" Cleto and possibly Onelki Garcia (too many Garcia's on the roster) to be candidates along with possibly Raul Fernandez. Of the hitters, possibly Beckham, Kevan Smith, Leury Garcia, Tyler Saladino or Andy Wilkins. If I ws to bet my house on it, I would say Cleto, Garcia and Saladino. Cleto due to his control issues, Garcia due to the number of relievers we have on the 40 man and Saladino due to the number of middle infielders that we have. Smith may be sacrificed due to the number of catchers that we have (but I think they want to keep him on the 25 man (he could be a trade candidate) Anyone not making the 25 man or seen as a hot prospect is fair game as far as I'm concerned.

Micah just went yard to tie the game.

ST: 3/9 vs D-backs 3:05
Beltin Bill just got Andy and Adam La Roche mixed up. I'm sure that won't be the 1st time.

3/8 ST Games: Shark vs. Moneyball
Big Kotteras with a monster homer out to left. 10-3

3/8 ST Games: Shark vs. Moneyball
Carlos Sanchez bloops home 2 runs with the bases loaded. The second base battle heats up. 9-3 Sox.

3/8 ST Games: Shark vs. Moneyball
Saladino base hit brings home Mitchell who walked earlier in the inning 7-3.

3/8 ST Games: Shark vs. Moneyball
Abreu doubles the switch pitcher for 2 runs. Venditte pitches from the left and get smacked by Eaton, he pitches from the right and gets smacked by Abreu. Maybe he should just pick a side to pitch from.

3/8 ST Games: Shark vs. Moneyball
Eaton sends a message to switch pitchers and brings home 2 with a double

3/8 ST Games: Shark vs. Moneyball
Vendette the switch pitcher now on the mound against Eaton

3/8 ST Games: Shark vs. Moneyball
Brantly with another single brings home Beckham from 2nd base.

3/8 ST Games: Shark vs. Moneyball
Beckham did draw a walk. Hawkins drove in Wilkins from 3rd with a single to right field

3/8 ST Games: Shark vs. Moneyball
QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Mar 8, 2015 -> 09:01 PM) Farmer and JD are right that you can't judge his bat because he was never given an opportunity, you're probably right that he ends up in Charlotte but I would rather have Garcia than Beckham. He wasn't given much of an opportunity but I'd rather see neither of them break camp, although I suspect Beckham will. I think Leury needs bats this year and I don't think he'll get it at the big league level

3/8 ST Games: Shark vs. Moneyball
QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Mar 8, 2015 -> 08:40 PM) I see a guy who can provide solid defense off the bench and can be another baserunning threat. Who hits the ball less than Beckham. I reckon you'll see him in Charlotte this year

3/8 ST Games: Shark vs. Moneyball
Rob Brantly with a nice hit. Shuck tried to do a De Aza and get thrown out at third but he just got back on time.

3/8 ST Games: Shark vs. Moneyball
Beckham strikes out..... (cue Beckham haters) Shuck singles. Looking good for the 25th spot atm. A long way to go though.

3/8 ST Games: Shark vs. Moneyball
A comfortable 1st inning for the Shark. A couple of Fly ball outs.

3/8 ST Games: Shark vs. Moneyball
Eaton already with a walk and stolen base. Impressive to steal on the leftie.

3/7 ST: White Sox vs Mariners
Some nice aggressive baserunning from Bonafacio puts us 1-0 up. A hit and run followed by a stolen base and being aggressive towards home on the ground out. He's going to be a nice option for us, much better on the bases than the likes of De Aza (which isn't that difficult tbh)

3/7 ST: White Sox vs Mariners
Beltin Bill on the Webcast with Lester Nosey on the mound for the Sox.

3/4 ST: White Sox vs Dodgers
Pitching wise, I was impressed with Q and Zach Phillips. Danish struggled with his control but managed to work out of a hole which showed character, Penny left a lot of balls up in the zone and got punished for it, had a much better 2nd inning when Brantly was catching. Surkamp left a few up in the zone as well and Kensing struggled but managed to fight his way out of it. Defensively, we were good with a couple of outstanding plays in the outfield by Shuck and Avi G. I felt that Bona struggled with the hit from Pederson to deep, he struggled to locate it initially and he couldn't make up for it with his speed. The infield all played well with Micah looking better defensively than I thought he would be. We showed some nice offense with Avi G, JA79 and Lexi all getting a couple of hits and Lexi's aggressive running on the basepaths was nice to see as well. On the negative, it was the same old from Beckham at the plate. I really hope that he finds himself and works out how to hit at this level or we could be in for some pain over the next few months. A lot of positives and I'm hoping it carries over to today when we have to face Kershaw.
