  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 3, 2017 -> 05:05 PM) He's going to be Trubisky's backup Honestly Mike Glennon could be a decent catcher
  2. It's not as if he's lighting it up in Charlotte.. there are still things he needs to work on. We'll call him up when he's ready
  3. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 2, 2017 -> 03:19 PM) f*** So what do scouts even take away from this start? Nothing, the defense ruined it. Cost Q many pitches
  4. I think he has been decent today. The 4 errors and all those extra pitches really don't help. He was fine before all that.
  5. QUOTE (Two-Gun Pete @ Jul 1, 2017 -> 11:09 AM) Look, I leave open the door for Adolfo, IF he can drop the K-rate. I just reserve the right to not count on a K machine in Low A. I can't believe this is so controversial to some. I'm interested in having good players in the system, so that they can make the Big club good one day. Take away the kid's name, & his signing bonus for a second: Would you get as butt-hurt about a hypothetical 4th year player in low A with Adolfo's disappointing track record being called a "suspect?" Adolfo is having a terrific season. The k-rate is the only real problem right now. There would be no reason to cut him for this one issue that can be fixed. You can't teach his power or his skills in the field, but you can teach him to cut down on strikeouts. Regardless of his name/signing bonus, he's playing very well and any conversation about ridding of him because he strikes out too much (at age 20) is ridiculous.
  6. QUOTE (Two-Gun Pete @ Jul 1, 2017 -> 10:54 AM) (Shrugs) Adolfo was >.300 on his BA just a few weeks ago. But who cares? Almost anyone who's into his 4th professional season, & is still w/a ~29% K rate in low A is not a prospect, he's a suspect. I do not care how "highly rated" he was when he was signed. I do not care about his age, & I do not care about any injuries, and I do not care about his so-called "tools." He's K'ing in 29% of his PAs in low A. Now, if he can magically reduce his K rate, then Adolfo can again become a prospect. So you'd give up on a guy because of a high K-rate just because it's his 4th pro season? If you were GM, there would be lots of guys ages 19-21 leaving our system and then becoming MLB players with other teams...
  7. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jun 30, 2017 -> 09:35 PM) Yankees calling up clint frazier He's not ready, IMO. Could benefit from another few months in AAA. I understand why they're doing it but it could mess with his development.
  8. Petricka was fantastic in 2014, at least give him that. He was really all we had out of the pen that year.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 30, 2017 -> 12:24 PM) That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. You sign Konerko to catch. Geesh. Beat me to it. I just think he really profiles more as a catcher.
  10. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 10:46 PM) At this point, I think it is an ownership issue. Rizzo had a deal in place for Robertson once already and it was shot down. It seems that their payroll is really tight and they don't want to give up the prospects for the Sox to eat money. But that was in December, when the Nats were less desperate. Now, the asking price on Robertson is higher (mostly due to Washington's struggles) and the potential trade will certainly change.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 06:25 PM) Soto, Luzardo and Severino. Soto is a projected top 20 prospect after this year That is if he can get back on the field. Adding Kahnle to that package adds so much value due to the years of cheap control. Not saying it warrants Robles, but we'd need more players coming back.
  12. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 04:31 PM) I've posted this before but I'll post again here. I have a buddy that is good friends with someone close to Braves organization. He told me in the winter that Atlanta was really interested but balked at trading Maitan or Acuna in the deal. I posted all of that here. This guy gets legit Braves info a lot but the White Sox/Quintana stuff always seemed off so I never "run" with it. I've heard heavy pitching packages as the rumored offers with the following names in play: Mike Soroka, Max Fried, Luiz Gohara, Akeel Morris, and Touki Toussant. I don't think Hahn would go for an all pitching package but Rogers and Ofman have both mentioned Braves interest as well as Atlanta Journal Constitution beat guy Dave O'Brien. Just FYI I guess. Even though it's 5-1, that's very underwhelming. If it's all-pitching (which is odd since we need to focus on acquiring position player talent), I feel like Hahn would insist on Allard. Not doubting the information or anything, it's just interesting that the rumored offer is so insignificant. Soroka and Gohara are good pieces, but the other three are not.
  13. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 01:22 PM) I went to a Rodon v Yankees game two years ago. Let's hope it turns out better than that one. If memory serves, the great Adam LaRoche fired a scoreless inning of relief that night.
  14. Phil Rogers on MLBN today said 8-10 teams are in on him, and the Braves in particular are very interested.
  15. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 11:37 AM) Has there been any updates on him lately? I think his return should be in August
  16. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 12:29 PM) I thought he was a definite starter. I thought he showed good power for a second baseman and had a clue at the plate and could actually hit .300 in the big leagues with excellent production. This year convinced me I was wrong. He was pathetic before he got hurt. He had been hurt all year, and was playing through it. I wouldn't worry too much about his 2017 performance for that reason.
  17. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 11:07 AM) There's new baseballs? https://theringer.com/2017-mlb-home-run-spi...al-155cd21108bc
  18. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 10:48 AM) I still think Quintana has been screwed by the unannounced raising of the strike zone (low strikes getting called less frequently) that has caused him to experiment with other areas (high and inside). He seems to have corrected this by including the changeup more low? I'm sure this, coupled with the new baseballs, factored into his slow start.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 09:47 AM) I know there is some hard core hindsight going on here, but there was literally not a single person who wanted the Sox to keep Tyler Flowers. None. I wanted us to keep him not because I thought he would break out offensively, but because his framing/game managing alone + occasional home run already made him one of the more valuable catchers in the league. Catchers who are good offensively are not easy to find in the first place, so when you have one who's great at framing and only subpar offensively, that's a solid catcher. I guess we learned that the hard way here.
