At the deadline, we were 2 games below .500 and very much in the wild card race. Did we buy? No. Did we sell? No. We did absolutely nothing, which was the worst thing we could have done, as we finished out of the playoffs and did not gain any players via trade. Now, we have this awkwardly-comprised roster of some very good players and some very subpar players. We are a big move away from being actual contenders. We are a few blockbuster trades away from being stocked with prospects. What will we do? Well, we've already started buying (Frazier, Lawrie), so the logical decision is to continue to do so. But. what will we actually do? Well... probably nothing.

Why do we have to play in one of the best divisions in baseball...

Just watched the Cespedes segment on MLB Network. No new information, but they all said that the Sox are a good fit. We were also the first team they mentioned.

Dan Hayes was tweeting that the Sox (3126741000) received many calls on 7/31 asking not to trade Samardzija (which we either should have done, or we should have traded for Upton/Cespedes), so they didn't trade Samardzija. He's implying that if we call that number asking for Cespedes, then we'll get Cespedes. Take it FWIW, as I don't buy it.
