Renteria is a very good hire considering he'd probably still be the manager if not for Maddon.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 05:42 PM) What I came up with in a waiting room today... Sign Alexei Ramirez for 2 year 14 million Lack of options, bounce back candidate and stop gap. Sign Rich Hill 2 year 16 million. Dude has pitched sparingly but has been highly effective the last few years especially down the stretch for the Red Sox last year. I imagine they'll try to retain him but they have Buccholz, Johnson, Rodriguez and Porcello + whatever big-ticket starter they add. Lots of potential for surplus value as he has fixed his mechanics. Sign Kenta Maeda – 20 million posting & 5 year, 70 million. Knocks on him are his slender frame. Dominant in Japan. Paying for 28-33 year old seasons. No compensation past money. Replaces hole left by Quintana. Trade Erik Johnson, Adam LaRoche and 6 million for Matt Adams. Cardinals have Piscotty ®, Bourjos®, Jay(L), Holliday®, Pham ® and Grichuck® in the outfield. Whispers are they are going to move Holliday to 1B but he's unwilling. LaRoche could break up all the righties in the middle of the lineup and sit vs. lefthanded pitching when Holliday/Pham/Piscotty cover 1B. The can sub in Boujos/Jay in the OF late and switch the less defensive oriented OF to 1B to have a great defensive unit. Johnson gives them an arm to help stomach the loss of Lackey/Lynn. Wainright, Lynn, Garcia aren't spring chickens anymore so Johnson gives them another young arm to add to Wacha/Martinez. Trade Frankie Montas for Martin Prado Not much explanation needed here. Prado covers 3B and hits second. I don't believe Montas can start. Not sure what the market will think of Montas but I think it's a worthy move. Trade Jose Quintana and Micah Johnson to Arizona for David Peralta, Chris Owings, Archie Bradley and Keith Kessler. Peralta is the key. BABIP is a bit high and he plays in AZ so his stats aren't as pure as they'd look in a glance but he's a well-above average LH bat who is pre-arb. Owings is a guy who was hamstringed by a bad wrist and is a great bounceback candidate. Do the look and see approach at both 2B/SS. Bradley has had an up-and-down career in AZ and scouts and executives have pinned him as a potential trade candidate. Good GB% and nice four pitch mix for the Sox to work with. Keith Kessler is a guy who hasn't had much of a chance in the MLB but I think can become a dominant LHSU. Sucks losing Quintana for reasons that don't need to be said and Johnson seems to have fallen out of favor and could find a role in AZ who lacks a 2B other than the skeleton known as Aaron Hill. Trade Avi Garcia for Tucker Barnhart Neither leave much to be excited about but fit their new teams much better. Barnhart is a light hitting switch-hitter who does everything well other than hitting and running. Noted that he works well with pitchers which the Sox love. L CF Adam Eaton R 3B Martin Prado R 1B/DH Jose Abreu L RF David Peralta S LF Melky Cabrera L DH/1B Matt Adams R SS Alexei Ramirez/Chris Owings R C Tyler Flowers S/R 2B Carlos Sanchez/Chris Owings Bench: INF Owings/Sanchez, OF Thompson, C Barnhart and Saladino/Shuck L SP1 Chris Sale R SP2 Kenta Maeda L SP3 Carlos Rodon L SP4 Rich Hill R SP5 Archie Bradley RHP Robertson RHP Jones LHP Dule LHP Jennings RHP Putnam LHP Hessler RHP Petricka Key here is to keep the draft picks and add cost effective players who can add to the team for years to come. Like it. Especially Maeda...and as for his slender frame knock...pinch me if you've heard that knock on one of our starters. Maeda is posted? Or should be soon enough. At the end of this month I seen. One issue is Montas for Prado. Don't want to give up our young pitching depth for him.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 05:41 PM) Yeah, I am not saying it doesn't mean they'll trade Lucroy but it seems like they want to keep him. At least that's what the media in Milwaukee thinks. Interesting nonetheless I guess.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 05:14 PM) It's probably happened before where a team markets a fan favorite and he ends up getting move. Thought it was worth noting. A small-mid market team like Brewers may have more value in keeping fan favorites than clearing house a la Cubs/Astros. Especially after a down year. Why sell low at a premium position
-
We certainly could match up with the Astros if they wanted someone like Quintana. Edit: now with Lance Lynn of STL out for '16 with TJ surgery maybe they could be a match

QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 04:18 PM) Brewers released their promotional schedule for 2016. Three items featuring Lucroy. Wonder how many players have been dealt after being put on early promotions like that?
-
QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 03:48 PM) We need players like Bryce Harper and Mike Trout too but I don't see anyone repeating themselves over it. Lol oh please.
-
But to all I've offended I'm sorry. Let's move on.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 03:20 PM) I don't know what pounding the table is but search "Arenado" in the query at the bottom left of this page. You brought up/endorsed trading for Arendao six times in this thread alone. I've brought him because that's the type of player Q needs to be dealt for if he's dealt. So again I don't need to let it go because I'm not going crazy demanding we trade for him.

White Sox decline option on Alexei Ramirez

Move on. No thanks. -
QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 03:07 PM) We'll make a compromise, those who were offended will let it go and in return you promise never to make some out-of-this-earth mock trade for Arenado. It's not happening. Let it go. Fine but I'm not the only one bringing up Arenado. After all, in my mock, I had us trading for Puig. So I never had to let it go because I was never pounding the table.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 02:54 PM) No one is saying he's untouchable. I know that. I was just explaining that he could be had.

QUOTE (Dunt @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 02:34 PM) Comparing a big trade to rape is pretty low man You're overly sensitive. Lighten up Francis.

I'm just part of a Chiefs forum that's no holds barred. Common phrases like that. my mistake that you were offended. Thicken your skin. It's an online message board.

QUOTE (Dunt @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 02:20 PM) His 700+ OPs despite playing injured most all season? His projections for 2016 are .279/.343/.435 and he costs $5 MM next season. He isn't going to be had for a song. But we also don't need to be raped.
-
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 02:01 PM) My guess would be no. He can be had. He's not untouchable.
-
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 01:56 PM) I heard that many, many closers are on the block. Wonder if Robertson is one of them. One year too late for us but I'm fine with Robertson.
-
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 01:59 PM) I was about to make a rebuttal... but then I saw Lucroy's 2015 stats. It's just way too much for him. I know we need a catcher but that's getting fleeced.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 12:31 PM) The Rockies aren't going to trade Arenado unless you dramatically overpay. Can we stop the madness? It isn't happening. He's probably the new face of the franchise. It's something to banter about. I can dream can't I? Let a sleeping dog lie.
-
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 12:15 PM) But they create a hole as big as the one they fill. I'm sure they want Quintana, but they're going to want to trade prospects, not other stars they already need. They also have a 3B waiting in the wings. McMahon at AA IIRC.
-
We want cost controlled players. Bats to be specific. Arenado would be perfect. Would give us our 3B we've lacked since Crede.
-
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 11:36 AM) Not straight up. Sale has more value. Without a doubt I was just stating that would be the more realistic trade
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 11:15 AM) I agree. They are always planning for the future. That is what the "board" was for in KW's office. Also, adding cost controlled young players doesn't mean they are stepping away from trying to compete. If anything, it suggests they are willing to trade some young players, and don't want guys with a year or 2 left as the reward. I took it as no more Shark type deals. They want a Puig type of trade or Adam Eaton.
-
The funny part is if shark pitched well and we made the playoffs no one would give two s***s about the trade.
