  1. @jonmorosi: Sources: Jordan Zimmermann's deal with #Tigers expected to be 5 years and around $110 million. @JonHeymanCBS first reported agreement.
  2. At least Detroit tries. Can't fault them for that. We keep talking about well they'll regret it later, meanwhile they'll continue to own us.
  3. They need to add and quite a bit. We're wasting Sale, Q and Abreu.
  4. I wouldn't crush us for signing Upton. We need an impact bat that can hit some bombs behind Abreu. He'd do that.
  5. I think I had us originally signing him but the more I've looked at him the less impressed I am with him and would just let Saldino play over him.
  6. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Nov 28, 2015 -> 02:03 PM) Those trades would be steals for the White Sox. I would think Cargo and McMahon and Lawrie would cost more than what you proposed. If those trades were on the table, I'd have to think Hahn would pull the trigger immediately. Probably. I was just throwing something out there because I don't know the true value.
  7. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 28, 2015 -> 11:33 AM) Sign 2B/SS Asdrubal Cabrera 2 years/20 million Trade SP Chris Beck and SP Brandon Brennan to the A's for 3B Brett Lawrie Trade 1B Adam LaRoche (Balances the money), SP Frankie Montas, SP Myles Jaye, and OF Adam Engel to the Rockies for OF Carlos Gonzalez and 1B Corelle Prime Trade RF Avisail Garcia to the Phillies for SP Jesse Biddle Trade RP Zach Putnam and SP Thad Lowry for UTIL Derek Dietrich CF Adam Eaton (L) 2B Asdrubal Cabrera (S) 1B Jose Abreu LF Carlos Gonzalez (L) 3B Brett Lawrie DH Melky Cabrera (S) RF Trayce Thompson C Alex Avila (L) SS Tyler Saladino OF J.B Shuck, C Tyler Flowers, 1B/3B Mike Olt, UTIL Derek Dietrich SP Chris Sale (L) SP Jose Quintana (L) SP Carlos Rodon (L) SP Erik Johnson SP John Danks (L) RP Jacob Turner (long man) RP Jake Petricka RP Dan Jennings (L) RP Tommy Kahnle RP Zach Duke (L) RP Nate Jones CP David Robertson Thoughts? I think we're going to make a big move with Colorado. Avi involved. They could take a chance on Avi breaking rough in that ballpark. I hope we try to get their 3B McMahon. They have Arenado so he's expendable. Rockies get: LaRoche, Montas, Avi and another prospect. White Sox get: Carlos Gonzalez, Ryan McMahon As for Cabrera, I'm only interested in him on a one year deal. Anderson should be ready next season. I like bringing him in versus bringing Alexei back because of his switch hitting bat and age. Then I'd be fine with getting Lawrie from Oakland. I wasn't keen on him at first but the more I thought about it the more it makes sense. Certainly, with our trade history with Oakland. Maybe trade Beck and a low level guy for him. The wild card in all of this Quintana. I think some team grabs him. For what? I don't know. I hope we can acquire some guys without dealing him.
  8. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Nov 28, 2015 -> 10:41 AM) so, like.....it would be nice to talk about some potential moves that would actually IMPROVE the team. So come up with some. We're all just throwing ideas out there.
  9. Lawrie could be a nice buy low option. We need to get ourselves a Jose Quintana with the bat.
  10. Renato Bermudez of ESPN Deportes reports that Yasiel Puig was recently involved in a fight with a security guard at a Miami nightclub. Details on the altercation are limited at this point, but Puig reportedly came away from the fight with a bruise on his face. We'll surely find out more about the incident before long, but it's certainly not a good look for Puig, who has his detractors in and out of the organization due to attitude issues. He was limited to just 79 games this season because of injury. Source: Vince Samperio on TwitterNov 27 - 3:03 PM
  11. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 27, 2015 -> 12:15 PM) If the Sox can get Longoria without giving up Sale, Q, or Rodon, I'd be all for it. I'm not sure he's available but I'm sure they'd want Anderson to start the deal.
  12. I'd do like Beck or something. I wouldn't give up EJ for him Edit: he is still only 26. There's still some hope he has a JD Martinez improvement for us albeit small.
  13. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 24, 2015 -> 04:38 PM) Unfortunately only 5 spots. Have to dip into that depth for bats. That's fine with me.
  14. For s***s and giggles on MLB the show, I traded for Lawrie and CarGo. Kept Saladino at SS. Traded LaRoche and moved Melky to DH. Not my ideal offseason but did it out of boredom
  15. This guy seems to be credible. He talked about Cargo for Montas like a couple weeks ago so here's more. @gastelumcharlie: Lo de Almonte de @whitesox y Kahnle de @Rockies es apenas un aviso de que están platicando, WM en Nashville puede surgir algo de CarGo Translation: @whitesox Almonte and Kahnle of @Rockies is just a notice that are talking, WM in Nashville can arise some charge
  16. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 26, 2015 -> 01:20 PM) Yeah I want either but not at too high a cost. Articles I've read had mentioned they'd been calls on Lawrie from AL teams. Would have to imagine we're one. I mean a swap of Beck or Saladino I'd think about it at least. He just doesn't warrant a package of even low potential prospects.
  17. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 26, 2015 -> 12:58 PM) I bet Oakland would accept a package of Danish/Beck/Saladino for him. Naw I'm good. I'll keep those three players.
  18. Because he's a .6 WAR compared to 2.2 Valencia. I'd take Valencia over him. That said, I'm not dipping into the farm for either.
  19. Point is he's shown potential before granted 4 years ago. Maybe change of scenery helps I don't know. It's a flyer type deal and no one should be pissed off over it. While not overwhelming, it's certainly not a bad signing on a 1 year prove it deal.
  20. Former All-Star and Silver Slugger in '11. But let's b**** and complain. Ya never know man hope he bounces back. At 2.5 mil if you're b****ing you just need to step back and wait for more moves. This isn't a bad signing.
  21. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Nov 25, 2015 -> 03:51 PM) They aren't in a position to deal from the farm yet in my opinion. They have to if they're not going to sign an OF bat, or deal Q.
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 25, 2015 -> 12:56 PM) Catchers almost as a rule can't hit. It's better the Sox spend no trade chips on a mediocre guy. This guy is a lot like Geo except left handed. No average, decent OBP, power, decent defensively. He has been the starting catcher on many playoff teams and he is still in his 20's, and signed for less than what Geo received. Bingo. I'm so glad we didn't ship out Q for Castro a couple years ago.
  23. Those who want him maybe disappointed Crasnick: Mariners working on deal for Ozuna ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports that the Mariners are working on a trade to acquire Marcell Ozuna. Ozuna has fallen out of favor in Miami, as he's apparently in owner Jeffrey Loria's doghouse. The 25-year-old outfielder hit only .259/.308/.383 with 10 homers and 44 RBI in 2015 and spent time in the minors. However, he batted .269/.317/.455 with 23 bombs and 85 RBI in 2014 and is not yet arbitration-eligible, so there's obvious appeal. Crasnick says the Marlins are looking for a young starter in exchange for Ozuna. Source: Jerry Crasnick on TwitterNov 24 - 9:52 PM Player Outlook Game Log Career Stats Draft Advice
  24. Fine trade. Hope he becomes a good reliever for us White Sox acquired RHP Tommy Kahnle from the Rockies in exchange for RHP Yency Almonte. Kahnle was removed from the Rockies' 40-man roster last week in a pretty surprising move. He was one of Colorado's most effective relievers for much of 2015, even ascending to the closer role at one point, but a really rough week in September helped push his final ERA to 4.86. While he has major control issues, Kahnle gets strikeouts and groundballs, so he's worth a gamble for the White Sox. Nov 24 - 5:09 PM
