  1. OK, 9 games coming up against the 3 best teams in MLB who are a combined 54 games over .500. When these 9 games are in the books and conservatively speaking I think if we are at .500 at the end of this stretch it will be acceptable especially the way the pitching staff is performing right now. Any thing better like 4-5 or a better 5-4 would be cause for huge celebrations. I think our hitting will keep us in most games, it all comes down to the pitching, the staff needs a gut check.
  2. Not going to get any easier with Atlanta coming to the Rate for 3, the guys have to bear down, especially the pitching.
  3. We will know more in about 9-10 days but damn you gotta love these guys, they keep bouncing back after tough losses and avoid long losing streaks.
  4. I was strictly speaking as an old Cardinals fan.
  5. The Cardinals should return to Chicago and they can play in Soldier Field.
  6. The next 12 games are going to be really tough, if they could win 6 it would be great, even 5 wouldn’t be all that bad. If they are still a couple games over .500 2 weeks from now we have to believe that these guys are for real especially with Mune and Teel still out, if those 2 are back in the lineup by July the Sox can really be dangerous in the second half.
  7. Things aren’t drastic as his OPS is .788 but the kid is streaky, hopefully he will figure things out like Vargas has. He needs to use the whole field and stop trying to pull everything.
  8. Wasn’t exactly crucial but I think we needed that win today.
  9. We swept the Tigers at the right time, they’re about to sweep the Rays. We need to avoid getting swept by Minny, so far so good.
  10. We were due for a bad stretch, hopefully they get on the right track soon before things get out of hand.
  11. I’ve been telling you people that Beni will help the team with his bat.
  12. I’m starting to believe, June is a pivotal month. I’ve looked at the schedule really hard and think that the Sox can go 12-14 in June, If they do they have a chance at a WC. Looking at the rest of the schedule I think the Sox can wind up with an 85-77 record which this year should probably get them a WC spot. Naturally what they have to do is just play consistently good baseball and of course avoid prolonged losing streaks, prolonged winning streaks will help.
  13. I hear ya but after 2024 and what we went through I don’t feel sorry for any team or will I ever regardless of how bad they are.
  14. He’s a bad reminder of a team that was probably going to win the division at worst for a few years and maybe more but instead it all came crashing down for any number of reasons.
  15. I’m OK with him batting 3rd, he is 4th on the team in RBIs and always heats up with the weather and still believe he will be an asset if we are in the race to the end.
  16. Gonzalez at first base, wouldn’t it be something if he continues his homer hitting season and eases the loss of MM.
  17. Catching is tough on the knees, since Quero is starting to hit maybe they should take it easy with Teel and have him DH awhile.
  18. One of my favorite Blackhawk players has died at age 81, part of the very productive MPH line with Pit Martin and Jim Pappin.
  19. I know Beni isn’t loved around here but I think he needs to stay, every year since he’s been here except the first when he had a bad wrist he has managed to have a good second half, if we are still in it come late July he will come in handy with his bat and experience, he helped the Red Sox win a World Series so he knows what it takes to win.
  20. Don’t know about that but hangovers for sure.
  21. That just about says it all though I have a feeling these guys who never quit are going to get this through this.
  22. Hays is still on the IL Antonacci and Hill played left field last night
  23. I go back a long way, IIRC that injury was almost unheard of in the 50s and 60s. I’m sure there were more but the first guy I remember having hamstring issues with the Sox was Chet Lemon around 1976.
  24. Same thing as Teel, hopefully he’s back soon and it’s a damn shame that we lost Brooks Baldwin for the year, his power could help right now.
  25. Great story book finish despite the loss of Mune, let’s hope Gonzalez is for real.
