  1. I’m hoping these guys are for real, if they are and make it to the post-season I’d love to keep the starting lineup core intact and that means extend Mune, Colson, Vargas, Attonacci, Meidroth and Teel. Unfortunately not good.
  2. So many bad moves by JR in his 45 years at Sox owner but bringing on TLR might be the worst.
  3. I agree, these kids are not only good ballplayers and love playing the game but it seems like there are no jerks on the team. Of course the guy who owns the team is a complete jerk but even he can see he should do everything he can to keep the core intact.
  4. Great win, the one thing I feared isn’t going to happen and that was the Cubs sweeping us in our ballpark, now let’s win the series.
  5. I’d like to see Mune bat 3rd with 2 OBP guys ahead him like Meidroth and Vargas, if both of those guys get on base then there’s a lot more pressure on the pitcher with Mune at bat with a possible 3 run homer looming.
  6. My initial thoughts were along your 2/3 to 1/3 estimates but we have lived in Florida now for almost 34 years and couldn’t accept things being so lopsided, when we left Florida in 1993 the Sox were doing pretty good but along came the 1994-95 strike with JR getting most of the blame especially from Sox fans. His popularity has been on a downhill slope ever since those days and deservedly so.
  7. Once Ishbia becomes owner and along with a newer and better stadium, Sox fans will return. There was a podcast on the internet the other day about how the White Sox franchise is a sleeping giant. I’m guessing that right now the Cubs probably own at least 60% of the Chicago baseball fan base, when Reinsdorf bought the Sox it was about 50-50 but the man has done his best to alienate Sox fans so there will some work to do by Ishbia, if Ishbia can get the Sox to 45% of the Chicago baseball fan base, that will be a very good accomplishment.
  8. We were due for a stinker, too bad it had to be against the Cubs, go get em tonight.
  9. The American League is a joke this year and the Sox with a .500 record might just make it to a Wild Card spot.
  10. Especially after being quite possibly the worst team in MLB history just 2 years ago.
  11. I started to believe in the second half last year and thought they had a nucleus of good young players who were gamers. When this season started off so bad I thought how could I have been so wrong but it looks after all that maybe I was right, there is still a long way to go and there are going to be some bumps, a true test will be on how well they handle the bumps. With Teel and Hays coming back soon, things can really get interesting.
  12. I watch just all about all the Rays games and I don’t know what constitutes a star but Chandler Simpson is damn good, one of the fastest players I’ve ever seen and I go back to 1952, so far this year the Rays are playing outstanding ball and Simpson is one of the reasons, Arraez is pretty good too with a some batting championships under his belt.
  13. We’ve been told that BA doesn’t matter anymore, it’s OPS now, we have 6 guys in the starting lineup over .700 with Vargas over .800 and Mune over .900. I’m old school so the first thing I always look at is batting average but I’m now paying more attention to OPS, have to go with the flow.
  14. I’m starting to have some faith in Getz and I think he will do a good job in building a good farm system, the thing is JR doesn’t like spending money on potential so Getz will have his hands tied unless JR has changed his thinking.
  15. Possible, if the trend continues it might be easier to win the Division than a WC.
  16. We don’t know how they’re going to wind up but so far this season has been very refreshing after what we have gone through the last 3 seasons. I think with Teel and Hays coming back soon they will improve, they are learning how to win and there’s a good possibility they can wind up at .500. They won’t be contenders for a Division title but if there’s a chance for a WC spot, that may be doable.
  17. On pace for 207, maybe more as the weather heats up.
  18. We needed a good outing by Kay and he came through, nice solid win for our guys, win the series today with no goofy Sunday lineups.
  19. Pass.
  20. Location, location, location.
  21. I think the current homestand is pretty important in shaping the rest of the season, it got off to a pretty bad start with an ugly loss last night.
  22. This year is sort of crazy with only 4 AL teams over .500, the Sox right now are only a half game out of WC spot. A nice winning streak would really be nice and if we get to June and still a contender the Sox might just sneak into the playoffs. The Sox are 11-7 in their last 18 games so they are capable of playing good ball for an extended period, another starting pitcher would be nice and hopefully the return of Teel will really help.
  23. Have to look a the bright side, we were 3-3 on the road trip. Time for some home cooking and a winning homestand.
  24. Sometimes I think that we forget that the young guys on the team haven’t even had a full year in the Majors, they are basically in OJT. Meidroth is a gamer and will get better, Colson will cut down on the Ks and become even more productive, Vargas has been around a bit longer but is always improving, Antonacci probably will probably wind up hitting .300 every year with more power, Quero is a mess right now and when Teel returns Quero should be sent back to Charlotte to work on things. Back to Meidroth for comparison, leadoff guy Chandler Simpson of the Rays has been hitting over .300 all year and has only 7 RBIs with a very good Rays team with guys always on base, Meidroth OPS is .712 and Simpson is at .672 so there’s that too. A leadoff guys main job is to get on base and score runs, he’s going pretty good at both.
