No Sosa?

Robert Thread: Sox talking to Reds, Mets
I agree that Baldwin looks much better in CF than the OF corners and I think he’s going to improve with the bat but if the Sox keep Robert then Brooks is the odd man out or he can be a DH. Actually with the signing of Murakami my guess is Sosa might be the main DH. Since we need a rightfielder, maybe they trade Sosa.

Robert Thread: Sox talking to Reds, Mets
I’ve been a Sox fan over 7 decades and I think that Robert is the best centerfielder we’ve had in that time and we’ve had guys like Busby, Landis, Berry and Lemon. What drives me crazy with him of course is he can’t stay healthy and he continues to have lousy at bats, I haven’t seen him try to adjust, I’m sure the coaches have worked with him but for some reason it’s not working. It’s really a tough decision to make with what to do with him, the guy has so much talent, I keep hoping that he finally figures things out. At this point, I would keep him and if he doesn’t improve with the bat, they can trade him at mid-season and get whatever they can for him. Of course some team might come up with a deal that we can’t refuse but I’m not holding my breath on that happening.

Amen.

Pete Fairbanks?
Of course they will but with Fairbanks won’t bother me if they take a pass on him.

Pete Fairbanks?
We’re not only losing, we’re losing at historic levels for the franchise, all because of a detestable owner.

Agree, as far as entertainment there are still many vibrant places in Chicago in place, there is no need to travel to 35th and Shields for entertainment. If there was as many people living around the ballpark as Wrigley then it would be feasible but there’s not. Wrigley and the surrounding neighborhoods are unique, unfortunately the White Sox surrounding neighborhoods aren’t.

Pete Fairbanks?
As the Rays are my second favorite team, I’m not a big fan of Fairbanks, hope he winds up with the Cubs.

Ishbia taking control by 2029?
Excellent points.

Sox linked to Patrick Wisdom
…..and will continue to lose 100 games a year. This jerk is turning the franchise into the laughing stock of MLB if not there already.

Oy.

When will we ever see an earth shattering free agent signing by the White Sox, so tired of picking up has been and never were guys.

I agree that 35th and Shields has never been the greatest spot for the White Sox, they drew well in the early years of the franchise and again in the Go Go years. IMHO biggest problem has been that there has been no period of sustained winning baseball except again in the Go Go years but even then we only had 1 trip to the World Series in those 17 straight winning seasons. They win the division once in awhile, lose in the first round of the playoffs and then we have to go through 5-10 of mediocre baseball only to see the same scenario. Meanwhile I’m pretty sure the fan base because of Reinsdorf’s miserly ways has dwindled down pretty low to where most of the metro population could care less about the White Sox. The only hope right now is Ishbia but there are no guarantees, I thought when Reinsdorf took over in 1981 that we would have a premier franchise rivaling the Yankees, Dodgers and Cardinals, boy was I ever wrong.

We have hope, we got The Pope!
Good to see Ishbia coming out of the woodwork, maybe he’s going to become owner sooner than we think, sure hope so.

Looking at the 78 on Google Earth and with the new Fire stadium on the horizon where are the fans going to park? Of course that’s never been a problem with Wrigley as most take the L to that place, the question is how many Sox fans will take public transportation to see the Sox at the 78. Before we moved to Florida we lived in Wheaton and we always drove to 35th and Shields, I don’t think if we still lived in Wheaton that I would make many trips to the 78, certainly not night games, maybe the Metra for day games but it would still be a hike from the Northwestern Station to the 78, I guess we could take the bus the rest of the way but that’s a pain. I’m thinking at this point a new park at 35th and Shields on the location of old Comiskey might be the best way to go, transportation has never been a problem there with the Dan Ryan and the CTA Station right at the the doorstep along with the Metra station along the east side of the Ryan.

My guess is that JR put a gag order on Ishbia as part of the deal until he gets full control of the franchise.

Old Reliable Bruce Levine says Sox interested in 1B/DH Ryan O'Hearn, had trade talks about Robert
Exactly.

White Sox picked for 24th in 2026
No surprises with that poll, Ishbia when he takes over will have a monumental task righting all the wrongs by the Reinsdorf regime.

White Sox picked for 24th in 2026
Eventually with new ownership I think premier free agents will want to play with the Sox, the first thing would be showing the baseball world that the franchise is committed to winning.

Too bad we have a scrooge as owner as I think some good free agent signings would get the team close to .500.

DJ on Sox future...
I actually thought they were better than that, now I remember we had a long losing streak at the end that put a kibosh on things including avoiding 100 losses.

DJ on Sox future...
Slight possibility because they did have a decent second but I think they would need a few more pieces.
