AL mvp canidates
Nomar is a great MVP canidate, especially if he can get his team into the playoffs. I like A-Rod and even though his team isn't winning he's going to get that award one of these years. Thomas has been real huge for us this year, but on a national scale those numbers just won't get it done. Ramirez, Tejada, and Ichiro are some other good caindates. But in a year without a true standout, I think it will go to A-Rod.

Who would you choose as your ace?
Another vote for Mark Mulder. There are two things I like about him. He leads the league with 9 complete games. That helps the bullpen rest up and proves how often he can be dominant. He works fast so his defense is always ready to go.

Friday's game
Did Alomar get thrown out? I heard the crowd cheering at the start of the commercial break. That was the second time Roberto got rung up on what he thought was a ball. Swing the f***ing bat.

one of Hawk's new ones: "Good check" and in sundays game: "jose with the hat trick today (0 for 3 with 3 strikeouts)" and "He was looking for it, got it, but couldn't do anything with it."

Looking way ahead
Definitely a good post.

Holy Shit, Paulie is hot
I wasn't sure when Paulie was gonna come out of that slump that lasted an entire season (second half of last year and first half of this year), but I swear that man was born to hit. You could totally see his frustrations with every popout and strikeout in the first half of the season(i.e. thorwing bat and/or helmet), and you knew he would find a way to turn it around or else it would totally destroy him. Of course i was pissed that the man batted right around the mendoza line for a long time but I never thought about trading him. It's never good to trade a player when his value is lower then it should be. But anyways cheers to Paulie and hopefully this continues.

detroit cops give tickets
You're damn right about that. I can't wait to see what Rogers can do in the NFL. His hands and instincts are unbelievable. Is Hakim gonna be back this year? And by the way: What has happened to Germane Crowell?

Leave the cheap shots to the fanless Tigers, and don't you dare talk about my Lions.

Rick White all over Manual
I think Upnorth was referring to Jose's comments about the inconsistency and constant tweaking of the line up. Valentin's comments seemed a little more professional. He wasn't calling out Jerry like Rick White was. Valentin is just frustrated with his .230 something batting average, but I think the team should be focusing on the positives. It doesn't sound good coming from Jose, one of the proclaimed leaders of the team.

For those at the park I heard in the past....
I'm only 17 and I started listening to Dave at about 13. That's about when I started listening to music after I realized I was growing out of the eat, sleep, and drink sports stage. Found a cd in my brothers room popped it in and it just so happened to be Before These Crowded Streets. I'm thinking of just closeting my obsession for Dave cuz I don't want to be classified as one of those pothead frat boys. I definitely wish they weren't as mainstream as they are. Pearl Jam and Bob Marley (a little diverse) are my two other favorites so maybe I'll lose that DMB avatar before people start classifying me. Sorry for hijacking this thread I've always been and always will be a fan of Thomas. As much as I like Maggs and Buehrle I just don't pull for them like I do for Frank. Always has been, and probably always will be my favorite (on-field) sox player.

Would we get rid of the "r" too or is Jreppson close enough. By the way I did not know that. Never even hear of the guy. And thanks for the welcoming.

Yeah, I was a little nervous about the DMB avatar. Not, the most liked band. I needed something though and that was already on the computer. And by the way, what is it about Dave that you dislike. His music, his fans or both.

Bartolo
A stellar performance from Colon. The key thing for him today was no walks. It's a lot easier for him to pitch with no one on. He seemed to spot that fastball at will, which hasn't always been the case. Part of that I think had to do with that outside corner that extended quite a bit outside the plate. It was consistent the whole game but that won't be the case in his next start.

I was thinking the exact same thing Welcome, Greppson Thanks for pulling out the welcome doormat for me. Started hanging around this board awhile ago. Beats reading all the non-baseball, idiotic talk going on at chisox.com. I can tell this board has a little bit more intelligence, and whole lot more sox fans.
