ok, prediction time Cotts has retired seven in a row. Leads at least 4-3 does manuel pull his usual stunt and take him out after five so he will leave the game 'feeling good about himself," and have a chance for the win? or does he let the young guy stay in? I say he's coming out. Seen it many, many times. He's big on this "feel good about yourself" stuff.

FARMER SEZ Sox have to stop throwing fastball, fastball, fastball to these guys. trouble is, Cotts seems to be unable to throw the breaking pitch for a strike

Tonights game, TV.
no, but it's on Fox and those of us living out of town can't watch it because Directv blacks it out on the satellite dish because ESPN makes them do it. they try to force you to watch the ESPN game. unlike the NFL, which lets fans watch the games of the teams they want to see. that's just another reason the NFL keeps growing in popularity, while MLB is sagging. MLB doesn't understand customer relations. They piss off the best fans they have -- the ones who buy the satellite package done ranting

sandy alomar on the pre-game radio show he's going to try to set up his target closer to the middle of the plate. he's told Cotts to quit throwing for the corners and try to throw strikes. Of course, he also just said if a pitcher doesn't have command against Texas, he's in trouble this should be interesting

those of us living outside the Chicago area get hosed tonight. MLB blacks out the Extra Innings Package on DirecTV because they try to FORCE you to watch the Cardinals. Buehrle might be a Cardinals' fan. I'm not. So I'll be listening to Rooney and Farmio. any extra play by play and insight from the telecast would be greatly appreciated, especially on how Cotts is performing -- outstanding for five or six innings, I hope.

the sunday night blackout on ESPN blows. Sox fans want to watch the Sox, not the Cardinals. Just because they're trying to force us to watch the Cardinals doesn't mean we have to do it. radio only for me tonight -- so plenty of play by play would be helpful

no prediction just hope Neal Cotts relaxes, trusts his ability, throws strikes and ends this slide Be a HUGE boost for this team, especially coming home to face the same two teams. all the best to Neal

good to see I'm not the only one who hit the reload button. I believe you are correct about Frank's contract. He holds the cards this year, then the Sox are in control. I also don't believe there is another team willing to take him -- and his contract -- on. By process of elimination, you can throw out the NL teams because he can't play first base on a daily basis. In the AL, Detroit, KC, Minny, Cleveland, Texas, Tampa, Toronto, Oakland are not going to spend the money. At least not on him -- at the price he would want. Yankees don't need him. Neither does Boston. Those are the two teams that could most afford him. Baltimore is an outside chance, but they haven't been spending a ton of money. And they didn't seem real interested last winter, when they were in worse shape. I guess Seattle might look at him if Edgar retires, but I doubt Gillick would bite. Anaheim? Scioscia is too smart for that move. So, where does Frank go?

you never know until they get to The Show. but I can't remember a player in the Sox system who has hit the ball this well this long at this level. And to hit better in Birmingham than he did in Winston Salem, is off the charts. I check the boxes regularly and if he doesn't have a couple of hits, a run scored and a stolen base, I'm surprised. If he was in the Yankees, Braves, Red Sox or Cubs farm systems, Baseball America would be putting out extra editions about him. He didn't even make their Top Prospect Top 12 until he'd been hitting .400 at Birmingham for nearly 100 abs.

Frank Thomas
If the pitching had held the opposing team to 6 runs or less in three more games on this trip, we wouldn't be debating any of this. Pitching, pitching, pitching has been the problem this week. And pitching is going to decide which team wins the division. If the Sox pitch the way they had pitched until Colon blew up in Anaheim, Frank can bat left-handed and the Sox would still compete.
