or like that last pitch to Texiera
-
just like that last pitch to spencer
-
be great to see Garland dominate a strong lineup like Texas figure it would give him a boost for the rest of the season. needs to trust that sinking fastball and rely less on the soft stuff
-
i believe they limit guys to 3 innings or less most of the time in the AFL. if he pitches there a couple of weeks, it might help him. but I wonder if he will still go if he pitches all of September and (fingers crosse) into October with the White Sox
-
my bad see that Hankins is indeed listed on the Fall League roster that's pretty surprising because he doesn't fit the profile of an AFL player. See Cotts is also listed. Can't imagine he'll be there now that he's in the rotation for the big club. Maybe Honel will take his place.

Hummel was drafted as a shortstop out of Old Dominion. He can't play that position in the big leagues. Not enough lateral quickness and range. To me he projects as a utility guy -- similar to Graffanino, perhaps with a bit more pop. Sullivan has value. The trade makes sense for this season. We might view it differently in a couple of seasons -- but Sullivan will help over the last five weeks, a perfect fit for the pen. Be nice if the Sox can keep him next year. As for Hankins going to Arizona Fall League, he's 27 and a six-year minor leaguer. that's not the profile of an AFL player. My guess is the Sox will send Jeremy Reed, Kris Honel, Pacheco, maybe Jason Stumm and perhaps Ruddy Yan. Ryan Wing could also be in the mix.

if the Sox can sweep an entire 7-game homestand AND Garland can pitch well, you can't take any more momentum on the road. Sox win tomorrow with a Royals' loss would give up a 2-game lead.
-
wow, twinkies announcers just said tomorrow is the last game of the season between the Twinkies and Royals this season.
-
twinkies 13 hits, but only three runs now if the Twins win tomorrow they split the series, which is perfect for the Sox
-
royals beat the twins, 4-3 dp to end the game, just as the Twinkies announcers were questioning Mike MacDougal. shut him up real quick
-
that was a Mark buehrle inning five or six pitches -- over in five or six seconds
-
frank playing like a guy who wants to get to October. nice to see
-
bases loaded no outs sox don't score how many times have we seen that this season? if the over and under is 75, I'm taking the over.
-
i was wrong 17-pitch at bat to Raffy
-
that might be the most amazing at bat of the year 28 pitch innning for buehrle. I'll bet at least half of them to Raffy for the K

according to the MLB site it is Mussina today, Contreras tomorrow and Pettitte on Monday against Balty. That means the matchups will be Loaiza vs. Clemens. Colon vs. Wells (won't kenny williams enjoy that one) Buehrle vs. Mussina (assuming Cotts is skipped because of the off day) should be a good test/indication of where this team stands. But first, let's take care of the Showalters. still owe them for last weekend.

Valdes is the kind of pitcher we need to knock around. be nice to carry a genuine eye-popping streak into the Bronx on Tuesday, where I believe The Rocket will be waiting. one key to this game will be Buehrle retiring Shane Spencer. He's hit him pretty hard throughout his career.
-
allegedly the guy had a bad arm. If he's healthy, he's certainly worth a look. He used to be filthy when he pitched against the Sox as a mariner. What could it hurt?
-
personally, I'm enjoying watching Kid K pitch his way into being the No. 3 right-handed starter on the staff

Breaking News: Sox acquire Scott Sullivan
winninguglyin83 replied to Chisoxfn's topic in Pale Hose Talk
after watching Sullivan pitch friday night, I think he has a chance to be KW's best acquistion this season. A Rod and Raffy both struggled with him before whiffing. The guy can get us through the sixth and seventh innings, setting the game up for Wunsch, Marte and Gordon. I like the idea that he has pitched in the NL. He'll be unfamiliar to AL hitters. And if all we gave us was Hummel, so be it. Hummel is NEVEr going to be an above average ML shortstop. He's not really a second baseman. Third is his best position. He's come nicely with the stick this year during his second year at Charlotte, but he doesn't project as a better player than Crede. Bottom Line: He didn't have a place with the Sox. Rather see the Sox lose Hummel than another pitcher. And Sully is price at a reasonable rate for next season. Far from a KW fan, but if the price was hummel, I like this trade, especially since the word was the Royals were about to grab him. -
i know one thing about Rusty Greer. He was from the same school as Joe Randa, Mike Cameron or Corey Koskie -- he used to punish the white sox. looking at the stats -- which include another 2 for 5 last night -- my guess is that Reed will be a better hitter for average than Greer.
-
another bunt single by Robbie that's three in two nights. I'm guessing the Angels are going to drill him the next time he's up
-
Olivo hit on the top of the head during a good at bat he's fine. did a good job laying off the curve ball on a 2-2 pitch
-
could have used more O by Olivo, sure. but his O has been better than Mark Johnson or even Josh Paul. And he's the best defensive catcher we've had in a long time.
-
BAM!!!! two-run dong by Jose, scoring Daubach. keep it going Graf
