  1. I think this is the reason the Sox are gonna sign stopgap players. They have to show they won't be a 100 loss team next year. No one wants to lose 100 games. If they can be just an 81 loss team who takes compete for the division, that is much better.
  2. Very good point. I'm shocked that I want to eventually win championships and watch the team progress along the way to being a champion.
  3. It may not have happened yet, but it means there is smoke to the Dodgers fire that they are trying.
  4. I've agreed with you until this point. I think the news of the Dodgers unloading contracts in the near future validate them being a huge threat. The Dodgers may be willing to match any offer we make as they know they can win a WS next year with a few tweaks.
  5. Yep, we are probably gonna have to trade Madrigal and our pick from next year to get that big fish if we miss now.
  6. As we see with the Bulls, if you don't sign free agents who are young and premier, you will suffer decades of non contention.
  7. I keep getting emails from the white sox asking me to buy shit. I sent the white sox an email telling them I'll wait to see how Free Agency turns out. I did my part lol.
  8. Well the longer the wait to sign them, the more obvious it becomes they are waiting on the teams they prefer to make big time offers. Harpwr may be waiting on the Dodgers to move Puig and a few others.
  9. The problem with this is that the teams who rebuild and sustain success do so by signing too tier free agents. If we cannot sign top tier free agents we will be the Minnesota twins, winning crappy divisions but getting bounced every year with a whimper. That is not what I want. I want sustained success and championship caliber seasons.
  10. Our irrelevance since 2006 definitely plays a role in how free agents view us. Thankfully, they chase money too.
  11. Yep I remember that debate lol. It was always the team who spends the most wins no matter what.
  12. I agree completely. But the fact they stuck their necks out adds accountability for them, and I'm not sure they do that if they weren't confident. It is one thing to speak of spending stupid money, it's another to mention letting the fans down and trying to build the relationship again. I think if the Sox didn't feel good about their chances they would have just remained silent.
  13. I'm taking Ken at his word. He said in so few words that this organization has let the fans down and they want to build that trust and loyalty again. This tells me the Bob tweet is wrong and they see themselves very favorably in all of this. We have to remember that we don't know much but they do. Agents, teams, players, friends, etc talk all day about these things even if the public isn't in on the conversation. Our guys know where they stand and what they need to do.
  14. Obviously, but they clearly want a big star. If they want a big star now in FA, this need will not just go away. And if they feel next year's class is weak, how will they acquire the star?
  15. Well if that is the case they better figure something else out. They've essentially admitted this is the year for them to add quality free agents to jumpstart our contention window. If this fails, then what?
  16. We shouldn't coddle our organization. These guys need to step up and make it happen. They said they need to earn our trust and loyalty and they are right about that. I will be upset if we lose out because of money as should other Sox fans. If Harper goes to the Cubs, well.... I don't want to think about that.
  17. I still think the Sox want to contend for the division next year and add in prospects along the way. So we may see some one year players to hold spots down. I agree with this approach as it gives fans and players an exciting year while not mortgaging the future on has been.
  18. We asked you for the truth, and you've acted like an asshole. We are all leaving now and will never ever return, until 3 minutes from now.
  19. The Sox and other businesses screw people over anyway. I'll take those two and wave my championship banner proudly.
