  1. QUOTE (BearSox @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 09:23 PM) batting average isn't a determining factor either... but I'd take a guy who hits around .300 with a .320 OBP over the guy batting .230 with an OBP around .340 any day of the year. Depends on what their slugging percentage is IMO. If the guy hitting .300 has no pop whatsoever and the .230 guy has a lot of power I'll take the guy hitting .230. If the power is close than I agree with you though.
  2. QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 09:21 PM) OBP IS NOT THE SAME AS BATTING AVERAGE. He's just no good right now, .228 with a .600 on base isn't good enough. You have to be able to hit to be good. I know you are just making a point, but I would take a guy who hit .128 if he got on base at a .600 clip.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 07:57 PM) Damn, Wise missed a homer by a few feet. I will give Ozzie credit for having the guts to bench Swisher. And for not choosing Owens to take his spot.
  4. Nice Wise. Now please for my sanity can someone actually get a runner home from 3rd base.
  5. Nice break there, just absolutely awful base running by Rios.
  6. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with the Bears tonight. I really was expecting the offense to struggle to move the ball all year. But the O-Line played well, Forte looked like a legitimate NFL running back and Orton played a solid game. The defense was obviously tremendous as well. And Forte showed more today than Benson did his entire time with the Bears. Hopefully this wasn't just a one game aberration.
  7. Gabe Kapler just hit a HR off of Chris Young to end his bid for a perfect game with 2 outs in the 8th
  8. Nice. Now I think you have to walk Hunter to set up the double play.
  9. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 7, 2008 -> 03:04 PM) I would of rather DH'd Getz There is no way Fields should be allowed to hit if his spot in the order comes up again.
  10. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Sep 7, 2008 -> 02:23 PM) I dont even know if i'd want to be an MLBer if it's like Toby, where pretty much any thing i do, whether it's positive or even just where i have to run around multiple bases... i get laughed at by announcers and teammates alike. Between the paycheck he is drawing and the fact he is still a professional athlete, I think he is ok with it.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 7, 2008 -> 01:57 PM) Don't we have room to add him? If Fields is going to continue to suck, why not get another power bat for the bench? If whitesox.com has the up to date 40 man roster, I don't think the Sox have room. There were 42 players listed with Sisco and Contreras not counting because they are on the 60 day DL.
  12. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Sep 7, 2008 -> 01:59 PM) Vlad would have been out on the tag-up play probably. Swisher had a great throw. But we get a lucky break, nonetheless. On the replay it looks like Swisher had a decent chance to throw him out, but you never know on plays like that. Probably would have been pretty close at the plate.
  13. Nice...and horrible base running by Vlad saves us a run
  14. So over/under 8 SBs for the Angels today?
