Those are not the type of players we need. Speed is nice but only if the guy is actually a good baseball player. I would love to have a Pedroia on our team because he hits line drives and is just a really good hitter, that he has speed is a luxury. I would love to add some guys who hit for average and hit line drives. Whether they have speed is far less important.

However, if we had guys in the 1 and 2 spots getting on base for CQ and Dye this lineup wouldn't go through funks near as often. The 3 power bats in the middle of the lineup haven't been the problem. Having guys in the 1 and 2 spots who don't get on base and then having PK and Swisher each sucking for the majority of the year has been the issue. If Konerko and Swisher had hit like they were capable of we probably wouldn't even be having this conversation.
