Ernie Banks is runner up for Shortstop.......BWHAAAAAAAAAA

He barly even played short

9 seasons as the primary shortstop

10 seasons at first base.

Don't know if that counts as "barely".

At one point he had the single season record for HR by a SS - 47, I believe...

He was a pretty good SS in his day, and bear in mind that he played plenty of SS in the Negro Leagues too.

I'm cool with that. For what it's worth, Bill James lists Eddie Collins as the second best 2nd baseman of all time, behind Morgan.

After I posted my list, I remembered somebody named Barry Bonds, who really has to be on the list. I'd have to freeze out Ted.

Hmm since I've got no idea about the history of baseball, and that I've only been following it for bout the last 5-10 years, here's my best team of the last decadish (1990 - 2003)

Catcher - Ivan Rodriguez

1B - Edgar Martinez

2B - Roberto Alomar

3B - Cal Ripken Jr. (I think he played 3rd, lol)

SS - Barry Larkin or Alex Rodriguez

LF - Barry Bonds

CF - Ken Griffey Jr. (bf the injuries)

RF - Sammy Sosa

SP - Randy Johnson, Greg Maddux, Curt Schilling, Tom Glavine, Roger Clemens

RP - Trevor Hoffman, Jeff Nelson, Arthur Rhodes

C  Josh Gibson

Not criticizing your list, because this is just opinion, but how can you not have Pedro on there. If you look at how dominant he has been compared to the rest of the league its almost ridiculous. He has been a much better pitcher than both Schilling and Glavine and he has been better than Johnson or Maddux.

I agree, I think that AROD is probably already the greatest shortstop of all time. Let alone of this era.
