I felt like this before when I was pissed off at the team, but losing 100 games just to embarrass the front office is wildly counterproductive. To lose 100 games, Anderson, Moncada, Eloy, Lopez, Giolito... everybody would have to suck bad, and that’s not good for any of us.

Houston lost 100 games for 3 straight seasons. The Sox are still in the tanking part of the rebuild. 2019 is another year where losses are more important than wins.

Marwin is turning 30 on March 14th.  Regardless, I don’t get the love for him.

but he's 29 now!

He is a career .318 obp with several years higher, plays multiple positions, and our OF position is trash on top of trash.

OTOH, if he does get close to the 2017 version then he is very valuable compared to what it appears he'll sign for.

He’s the type of guy you should be able to produce from your farm system or sign cheaply.  Marwin is going to get overpaid.

You'd think so but sox had 2 years to do that, traded solid relievers for charlie tilson and ryan cordell, and are projected to have negative WAR in two outfield positions this year.

I rather roll with Leury/Rondon and see what they can do on the cheap.  If the Sox aren’t a contender, why add a high-priced utility guy?

Leury Garcia is a poor man's Marwin Gonzalez and much cheaper. Give him at bats in 2019 in another non-competitive season.

Marwin does not fit in with the Sox's long term plans.

This is a great idea.  Though I might favor ae492 instead.

Leury can't stay healthy and 28, you have no idea what marwins cost is, and it doesn't matter. Marwin has a possible chance of being what he was a year ago and you can trade him for something that fits long term.

Just because you sign someone doesn't mean you literally have to have them for years.

Boom, I've been calling this since we've signed Machado that they will get CarGo.

"We've coveted Carlos for a long period of time, and are excited to add him to the 40 man roster.  He will help mentor our young players and help build this roster into winning multiple championships."

Kenny always gets his guy, just 10 years too late.....

First Ervin Santana, next CarGo.  Kenny and Hahn are giddy with excitement to continue their dumpster-diving instead of wasting $300 million on one player.

At this point, I actually don't mind if they sign CarGo or Jones. Since I know Harper isn't an option, I really don't giva shit.
