Current projected lineup (mlb.com)

Francisco Lindor, SS

  1. Jason Kipnis, 2B
  2. Jose Ramirez, 3B
  3. Carlos Santana, DH
  4. Jake Bauers, 1B
  5. CarGo/Tyler Naquin, RF
  6. Leonys Martin, CF
  7. G.Allen/Jordan Luplow, LF
  8. Roberto Pérez, C

They also have Joyce, Trayce Thompson, Brandon Barnes...IMO, a healthy Bradley Zimmer is the key, when he comes back, as he’s maybe 2-3 weeks behind everyone else.  Then there’s Hanley Ramirez, and his return from the abyss.

At any rate, Lindor, Kipnis, Ramirez, Santana, Ramirez/Bauers, CarGo, Martin, Zimmer and Perez isn’t bad at all.

And thank god they traded Francisco Mejia or our competitive window might have been blocked in 2020/21 as well.  (It did get them their closer in Hand, though.)

Great deal for them. Potential solution to their biggest weakness on a minor league deal and cheap ML salary.

Why the heck did Hahn give Jon Jay $4 million guaranteed?  Awful.

I’d rather have CarGo right now for less than Jay.

Without the Machado pursuit, Jay was a non-roster invite type with a 2 mil salary if he made the team. Oh well.

Or the back 3-4 of their bullpen.

Zimmer, If healthy, is maybe a 1-1.5 fWAR downgrade from Brantley...but certainly has the potential to outproduce him.

CarGo, Martin and Zimmer certainly sounds a lot better than what they looked like two months ago.  We can even argue that taking Alonso’s deal off their hands partially contributed to this low-risk signing.

Cargo better than Jay or Alonso 12 million cheaper

Probably not better than Alonso. I know everyone hates Alonso, but he is a much Better player than most here want to give him credit for

Really? Outside of 2017, he is a 1 WAR player at best. Dude is completely mediocre.

This is funny. You're citing his WAR being mediocre yet completely tear down Abreu after his 3.8, 2.7, 4.7 WAR seasons.

And what WAR are you using there?
