July 13, 20196 yr It doesn't take much to see the White Sox are in need of starting pitching. There is nothing to suggest that help will come from the minor league system. I don't think JR is going to spend upwards of $140 million on Cole. I'm wondering if the team would consider putting Aaron Bummer in the starting rotation. I would like to think he would be able to give the team a decent start of at least 5 innings. He would have to be better than the starters they've being throwing out there recently.
July 14, 20196 yr I wouldn’t mess with him. If the Sox don’t spend when their payroll is as low as ever and our team is full of cheap youth, then they were never serious about winning in the first place. There is no reason to change player roles when Bummer is an amazing reliever when you have boatloads of available money. Will they spend it? We shall see. Edited July 14, 20196 yr by Moan4Yoan
July 14, 20196 yr If you want to make Bummer a starter, you should just trade him for an actual SP prospect.

July 14, 20196 yr I've thought about it, but its hard to change him out of a role he's been so good in.
July 14, 20196 yr We should not be trading players we need on next years team to compete. I would listen on offers for Bummer & Colome but not really interested. Overpays are the obvious exception. Abreu needs to be extended or traded. You don't want to end up empty handed.
