Carlos Correa reportedly on the market

Featured Replies

Now's our chance. How often does a player like Carlos Correa become available for trade? Once or twice a decade?

Risk
Correa has struggled to stay healthy the past few years, and he has what many would call a troubling history with his back.

Reward
Correa has MVP upside and produces like a franchise star when he plays. You roll the dice on him, and away we go.

Cost
Would the Astros take Tim Anderson, Andrew Vaughn, Zack Collins or James McCann, and Luis Basebe for the guy? Maybe!

Anyway, this is the type of deal that can make us machines for the next decade. Scope this potential 2020 lineup alone:

C Yasmani Grandal
3b Yoan Moncada
SS Carlos Correa
LF Eloy Jimenez
1B Jose Abreu
DH Nick Castellanos (fuck it, get him, too)
CF Luis Robert
RF Nomar Mazara
2B Nick Madrigal

It's boner time!

You'd trade Tim Anderson's contract and 5 years of great control + a prospect for 2 years of Carlos Correa?

Not a fan of that trade proposal.

You back playing OOTP again Steven?

In a heartbeat.

Nah, no time for that.

Tim had a .399 BABIP last year. He'll turn back into a pumpkin next year.

In their last 185 MLB games, Tim has a 4.5 WAR and Correa has a 4.8 WAR.

Tim is cost controlled and has stayed healthier.

I'll take Tim + the prospect over Correa.

While I'm not opposed to moving Tim, I don't see how that one makes sense.  That full offer is laughable btw.

I'm not taking any Astros position player for the foreseeable future.

Why

Why

Because their stats have been padded for several years, increasing their actual value.

Don't see HOU moving him this year OR CWS trading for him ever

Weird to see a lot of good teams consider selling (CLE, CHC, etc.)

what an awful proposal

The risk is 2 years of control, with this team nowhere near ready to win with our without him.
