January 27, 20215 yr To me the hall of fame enshrines baseball's best employees. They are as close to the ideal person the game can be proud of. If you "owned" MLB you wouldn't think of some of these employees as ideal.

The ballot rules relate to his time as a player, not his post retirement comments or internet postings / blogs. I personally don't believe the BBWAA should be involved in the election process, but sadly it remains a more selective / better process than the garbage Veterans and other committees who have elected nearly all of the poorly qualified inductees. Hell, Jessie Haines has the 306th ranked SP JAWS, behind #305 Gio Fucking HOFer Gonzalez. https://baseballhall.org/hall-of-famers/rules/bbwaa-rules-for-election 5. Voting: Voting shall be based upon the player's record, playing ability, integrity, sportsmanship, character, and contributions to the team(s) on which the player played. Schilling was a borderline hall of famer, Bonds and Clemens the only clear cut based on performance. Bonds and Clemens were HOFers with or without steroids.
January 27, 20215 yr I would put schilling in. Yeah he is an ass and his views of society are stupid and stuck in the 18th century but really there are tons of racists, wife beaters and general assholes in the HOF and schilling did neither commit a legal crime like murdering someone nor did he cheat on the field or gamble on baseball.
