Need some RHP relief help.  Marshall, Foster, and Heuer (least of three) have struggled.

Miami might have some relievers they are willing to sell. I haven't checked peripherals or to see if these guys are considered future starters but Dylan Floro and Yimi Garcia seem pretty good as of now. Obviously that can change with one real bad outing so maybe look at their numbers in a month.

All the former Dodgers!!!

The Sox can easily flip some mid tier prospects for decent relievers. Think of the Soria trade. He was having a very solid year. All the team got was Kodi Medeiros and some other bum.

Marshall IIRC is out of options so even after tonight he probably has 1 or 2 bad outings over his next 3 ahead of him before he gets DFA.

My prediction is to watch Kade McClure.  He pitched tonight.  If Marshall is DFA a spot is open and I think it goes to him.

I still want a Plutko deal after thinking about it.  I don't care about "getting through the season," I want our best arms ready for the playoffs.

If the Twins are going to keep struggling we might just coast to October this year.  The Indians FO is probably hoping for a losing streak just so they can sell.  The Royals even tried harder to get better over the off-season than CLE did.  And the Tigers aren't trying at all.

I'm really hoping we can rest some guys during the year.  Skip a start for everyone and maybe try to give Rodon and Cease extra rest.  And handle both Kopech and Crochet very lightly because they might be our two best guys in the pen come October.  I want these guys ready for a deep run.

McClure has only made 2 starts in AA. Before this year, he hadn't pitched above A. I don't think the Sox are going to rush him to be in the pen. Stiever getting called up after only pitching in A+ was a disaster. It seems like they view McClure as a potential #5 in the future.

Reylo gets called up before him IMO

Lynn, Rodon and Kopech would be my playoff rotation unless Giolito can break out of it....obviously, a long ways to go, but I definitely wouldn't start him a theoretical Game 1 or 2 next week.

Remember, Giolito has 1.375 seasons of excellence under his belt, not a full two.

I would normally agree but look at his stat line.  He is throwing strikes.  OTOH Charlotte is a giant dumpster fire.  It's so bad down there that ReyLo can pitch 5 innings giving up 3 walks and a HR and looks like Scherzer by comparison.

Remember Q was basically the same thing.  Also IIRC Brandon McCarthy only had a bit of time in AA before ST in 2005 and Ozzie even said that if they didn't have a full staff he would have made the team.  Also Boone Logan IIRC was in Great Falls or something the year before and IIRC hadn't pitched above A ball and made the team.  Also Heuer was a A+ guy IIRC.  I don't think McClure is as good as these other guys especially not BMac or Q but still, when you have a MLB arm and you are going to throw strikes with it you have a chance.  He's one guy I wouldn't be shocked to see the Sox be aggressive with, especially since again Charlotte is a dumpster fire.

Today for me it's Rodon Kopech Lynn Giolito with Cease in the pen and Keuchel is off the roster entirely.

This is also why I want to rest these guys a bit.  We may not necessarily want to start all of the guys who helped get us there with workload.  Maybe we will want to start our secret weapon.

I'm pretty excited about McClure now. I'm not expecting a lot, but I like his 6'7 frame. His fastball is around 95 mph according to futuresox. Not sure if that is his max velocity or sustained velocity.
