Belt Gate?

Featured Replies

Here’s a tinfoil hat one for you…

1.) It seems like Lynn was taking a lot of time between pitches and regularly going to his right hip… brushing his pitching hand up against his belt often.

2.) If you look at the ejection, the ball boy takes the belt and in the ensuing drama takes it away into the clubhouse without any umpire inspecting it.

So here’s the tin foil hat question… could Lance be using a substance that’s on his belt which they hid while using argument of the ejection as a distraction from the umps discovering / investigating the check completely?

Seems possible, but if he was using sticky stuff he probably would have been pitching better.  He didn't have great control.

However, it's an intriguing thought.  And maybe, just maybe, they had a back-up plan where Hendriks would come barreling out of the bullpen with no shirt on screaming, "Crikey it's hot as a shrimp on the barbie out here!"  Then he would start hopping around like a kangaroo yelling, "I'm batshit crazy!"  In the ensuing madness, the belt could be hidden from the umpires.

No big deal if the umps would have taken the belt....they could've just had Mendick climb through the ceiling tiles and switch belts in the umpire room.  Test it again, there is nothing wrong with that belt!!!

My profile picture is perfect for some tinfoil hatting.  Let me come up with some theories.

Award worthy.

This tin foil hat theory has as much validity as flat earth concepts.

Then why did you post it?

Funny you mention that, that's what the Cubs did when MLB wanted one of the bats Sosa used for whichever milestone he hit in the race with McGwire.  Went in and switched the bat out as it was corked.

Albert Belle had one of his teammates on Cleveland actually do that as well and it happened at Sox park if I remember correctly.

Funny stupid posts presented as such are just fine. Problem is when they’re presented as fact.
