So they are projecting the Cubs to pay out for Hawkins and Lopez even after exercizing Alou, and the Sox are going to sign back Colon Alomar and Gordon? Too much money for the Chicago teams to spend.

So they are projecting the Cubs to pay out for Hawkins and Lopez even after exercizing Alou

When did the Cubs do this? This is a mistake IMO. Don't the Cubs also need to resign Lofton for lack of a better LOH?

i see many flaws in those predictions.

1) they expect the Cubs to pay for hawkins AND Lopez? They already have a high salary, how mcuh are they gonna spend?

2) i really dont see the Sox signing Gordon at what he'll want and probably get somewhere

3) i dont know if even the Yankee$ would add the 25 million plus it would take to keep Pettite and sign Sheffield and Castillo. Plus if the sign Castillo where does Soriano play? CF? They Yankee$ wont just let Bernie go like that.

4) Pudge has recently said that he wants to return to Florida. The Marlins will only lose Castillo, Urbina and Fox this year. They have a few prospects and will be getting Burnett back. That gives Pudge incentive to come back based on this years performance of the team AND it will free up the Marlins to be able to afford Pudge.

5) since when do the Oriolels have the money to reel in Pudge AND Vlad?

6) i see tejada going somewhere like LA, or SF, or Baltimore before Anaheim. I just dont see the Angels giving him that kind of a contract

Corey Patterson will be back next year, so Loften is out the door. Alou was exersized yesterday.

Tejada will go to the Angels, they've established themselves as the leader for his services.

As for the Yankees, they're going to dump a few guys, including Weaver, move Soriano to CF and put Bernie at DH. Nick Johnson could be moved as well.

Weaver isn't going anywhere unless the Yankees take on an equally bad contract, or pay out his contract to whoever takes him. I could see a Konerko/Weaver deal happening unfortunately

Hasn't Patterson proved the past couple seasons that he is not a leadoff hitter. Another blunder by the Cubs IMO. I would have rather signed the cheaper and younger (not much) Lofton than Alou and put either Lofton or Patterson in left.

I much more likely see them signing a guy like Vina to play 2nd and hit leadoff. I doubt that they will use Patterson as a CF. But the theme remains the same, Lofton is gone.

Weaver wouldn't be a bad guy to take a chance on.

He's talented, just not made for New York.

He put together some good pitching in Detroit when he was there.

Jeff Weaver is an asshole and a mental case. This I know from a player on the Tigers. No one likes the guy, and he would never survive in a clubhouse as fragemented as the Sox is. There is no way I would want this guy on my team.

You're certainly entitled to your opinion 2k, as I'm entitled to mine.

absolutely. Yours just happen to be wrong  :D

Some of them I agree with, others I do not. I would love to see where other guys are going, maybe the not as high profiled guys.

i dont see them moving Nick Johnson. And if they do NOT move him, then how does Bernie play DH? Giambi will DH as Johnson plays 1B. So, basically it will come down to Castillo or Johnson, not both.

They'll move Johnson if they can get Castillo, trust me on this one.

Yes, Aboz is 100% right. They have been talking about this for awhile now. Moving Soriano to CF, Bernie to either RF or DH. If they don't sign a OF, put Bernie there. They would move Johnson if they could get Castillo.

Well Maddux has said that he wants to play closer to his Las Vegas home. I wouldn't rule out San Diego. And Why would Tampa Bay want Everett and Cameron when they have Crawford and Baldelli.

I think Irod will do everything Possible to stay in Florida. Where he makes his home

The Devil Rays getting Cameron and Everett are the two worst predictions I see on there. I also don't see the Cards getting Maddux.

However, with the Orioles getting Belle and Erickson's contracts off the books, I can see them signing one, if not two major names.

on the world series radio broadcast last night, Jayson Stark predicted Andy Pettitte would leave the Yankees, probably for the Astros.

Four logical reasons why:

1. Clemens is retiring. the guy is his best friend.

2. Stottlemyre is leaving as pitching coach. He loves him.

3. Torre has only one year left on his deal. Pettitte won't want to sign a four-year deal if he fears Torre will be gone after 2004.

4. He has three young children and an off-season home in the Houston area.

if the Yankees lose Rocket and Pettitte, they'll pay Colon 60 million for three years, folks.

WHat pisses me off is that they project Matsui to go to the Mariners! The Mariners don't need any more oriental players! With all the oriental players they have they might as well move to Japan!

I want Matsui.

Two things about earlier posts. I think the Yankees would give Bartolo $50 million for three years, not $60 million, that seems high (but, who knows). And, if the Devil Rays got Everett and Cameron; then Crawford would stay in left, Cameron and Baldelli would be CF and RF (whichever Pinella would perfer), and Carl would DH and play some OF when guys need off days.

They get all the Asian players, because the players are comfortable with players they feel are like themselves. We will not get Matsui. I would rather spend our money elsewhere too.

I think if they lose Clemens and Pettitte, they're going to pay what it takes to get him, whether it's $50 million, $60 million or whatever.

Otherwise, their rotation is Mussina, Contreras, Wells (who could break down easily), Lieber and Weaver. No way the Boss stands for that.

Why pay $6 or $7 mil for a guy who's not proven at the big league level? Sure he's a pro in Japan, but that doesn't mean much to me.

It's not worth it.

While Suzuki and Matsui have panned out thus far, there have been busts like Shinjo that make me weary of taking a risk this big.
