Ryan Burr Instagram Post: Sox Released Him After He Opted for Surgery

Featured Replies

Rockies just did the same thing to a prospect named Welker.  He's on the IL after surgery but needed the 40 man spot, so they DFA'd him.  He is still getting paid thru the season, as is Burr.

Giants claimed Welker.

Minor League deal?

Sounds like Ryan didn't go through with the surgery. The Tampa Bay Rays signed Ryan Burr three days ago. He would post-season eligible for the Rays if promoted.

The Rays recently agreed to a minor league contract with reliever Ryan Burr, according to his transactions log at MLB.com. The right-hander has confirmed the agreement on his Instagram page. He’s headed to the team’s Florida complex for now but will presumably be sent to Triple-A Durham after he builds into game shape.
