Sox minor-league free agents

Featured Replies

Baseball America printed the names of the six-year minor-league free agents from every team.

these are the minor leaguers in the Sox system that anybody else can sign

CHICAGO WHITE SOX (19)

Pitchers: Brian Cooper, Clay Eason, Rolando Garza, Tom Jacquez, Ryan Kohlmeier.

Catchers: Jon Aceves, Carlos Maldonado, Steve Morales.

Infielders: Gabe Alvarez, Jorge Nunez, Juan Piniella, Danny Sandoval, Chris Saunders.

Outfielders: Chad Durham, Jon Hamilton, Scott Morgan, Nate Murphy, Mario Valenzuela, Eric Welsh.

My guess is that Kohlmeier, Durham and Valenzuela will be the first three gone.

Thoughts?

Someone will grab Alvarez because he is valuable to have on a minor league team. Won't make it back to the majors, but will definately make a minor league club more competitive.

Out of those guys the only one I care about is Valenzuela. The guy might develop into a pretty good hitter if he can ever stay healthy.

Alvarez is as good as gone then. Kohlmier wil be picked up by somebody. Maybe Nunez, The rest I really can't say.

C.Durham should rap it up

Re-sign Nunez

Why?

I hear he did good for us in ST last year and also I heard that he was good in the Montreal minor league system.

I say we keep Valenzuela. Did pretty good before he got injured, no?

ESPN, Old Tribune Articles...Profiles...

Nunez is a solid defensive Minor League SS, nothing more. Chris Saunders will be a coach in the Sox system somewhere. Alvarez is a Minor League vet, not likely to re-sign. Any of the guys listed with the possible exception of Mario V. are just Minor League roster filler.

I'd like to see Piniella back in Birmingham, however. Great guy, good team guy and a smokin hot wife!
