November 1, 200322 yr SURPRISE!!! http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1651017 Should that have been SURPRISE
November 1, 200322 yr It's gonna be a major challenge for Loaiza to prove that 2003 was no fluke. But i'm glad he's back. He's earned the right to show what he can do...
November 1, 200322 yr He'll win anywhere from 15-20 next year, IMO. Same with Buehrle. Where the other wins from starters will come from, I don't know.
November 1, 200322 yr He'll win anywhere from 15-20 next year, IMO. Same with Buehrle. Where the other wins from starters will come from, I don't know. My guess as well. I'm more confident in Mark winning 18 than Estaban winning 14. Too often players think that now that they have won or did X that they somehow need to make chances. Think about all the golfers that win a major then flop. With the talent in our system I'm hoping for a Dontrel Willis type happening in the 4th or 5th spot. I'm not happy with the almost certain losing of Colon.
November 2, 200322 yr Tex, If we can get 32-38 wins from Buehrle and Loaiza, that's fine. However, I always pencil in 10 wins for Garland regardless, and that being said, that would be 42-48 wins from 3 of 5 starting rotation slots. Just a thought. As for Colon, yeah, I was angry that he refused our offer, but we will still get a quality starter, and I hope that Rauch gets a shot at the 5th slot. (Rauch couldn't be worse than Danny Wright Wrong if he pitched with his left arm). If not, then sign Ponson and Pavano (the 2004 Loaiza, IMO). I don't know why I think this, but I think Colon breaks down this year. He's overweight, he's logged a lot of innings, and his mechanics are dreadful. I would hate to have him break down on our staff. But he's as good as gone, so I just accept it and move on. However, I will miss Bartolo, and every time I eat a Whopper or a cheesecake, I will think of him with fondness.
