  • Why is everyone concerned about how good the Dodgers are? There are 28 teams between the Sox and the Dodgers right now. Achieve “not the worst team ever” and then we can start worrying about the Dodge

Shohei Ohtani homers (4) on a fly ball to right field.

45 game on base steak now

still a long way to go for all time record

"The streak is also the longest active streak in MLB, and more than halfway to the all-time record of 84 games set by Ted Williams in 1949. He is 14 away from the Dodgers' record held by Duke Snider, with 58."

LA now on pace for 127-35...if 4-0 lead holds

Ohtani 118 ev on a severe pull-hook foul ball

Ohtani 33+ inning scoreless streak ends at the hands of MJ Melendez second double in debut.

At 98-100...not pinch hitting even after removal from game according to Roberts.

Pham two k's from right behind him to end threats. Jumped from A ball rehab.

Sasaki might be going back to the pen

as a starter his straightish 96-98 mph fb has gotten absolutely clobbered

dalton rushing catcher with lad must have record for most Homers to start a season in the fewest at bats

especially when you consider only 4 last year in more or less 150 pa's

Think you meant this for the LAD thread, but Rushing is why LA isn't the future fit for Mune some people seem to assume. With Shohei as DH, they will want 1B ABs for him. And I'd assume any potential restrictions on spending will make the homegrown guy even more appealing.

Or they move on W.Smith one year early rather than holding him too long

that said Muncy has been one of the most important hitters despite advancing age at third base

Freeman older too

but they want to trade 1B Ward who is the Murakami of that team but superfluous

What restrictions on spending? Both Freeman and Muncy could be gone when Murakami becomes a free agent. Would anyone put it past the Dodgers to play Rushing or Murakami at 3B?

I said "potential" restrictions. I don't know where negotiations end up, just mentioning the possibility.

But yeah, I think playing Rushing or Mune at 3B would be pretty unlikely. Mune's future is 1B/DH at the MLB level in my opinion, and Rushing has never played 3B at any level.

A less Ironman-caliber 1B than Freeman should leave some 1B starts open for Rushing when he's not catching, but Shohei has been even more of an Ironman at DH so there's little to spare there.

And since they currently have a righty primary C (Smith) and lefty primary 1B (Freeman), if/when lefty Rushing takes over as primary C, I think a righty 1B slots in better for lineup balance. Especially with Hope and De Paula being lefties too.

Sasaki is someone I would be intrigued to acquire if he finally gets to point he wants to get real run way so he can prove he can make it in this league as a starter.

He wasn’t ready for prime time with the Dodgers but if he is healthy I think he is type of guy that needs a six month adjustment and than can be a pretty good long term piece.

He picked the Dodgers to fix his fast ball…very specifically

they kind of did in the post season run except for one hiccup…but now he just looks lost again

fastball velo at 96-97 touching 98 and getting rocked more than any pitch in baseball

Getting behind in counts constantly

His splitter is a great equalizer, but hitters are learning to lay off on that and wait on a straight as an arrow fb

He really needs to find a third reliable pitch and attack confidently with that arsenal…instead of tinkering with 5-6 pitches but lacking confidence in any of them
