When I started(with help from WS99 :) ) the HotChicksThread in the testing board it became a huge hit..alot of people came in here not just to test sigs and whatnot..but to check out the HCT...Since that spawned it's own forum, I thought I'd start a another thread...Not a HotChicksThread, but a thread where people could post free files and downloads to trick out or tweak their PCs and Macs..

I'll post a few to get started...alot of people may find useful stuff they can use to improve their computers that they would have never thought off...and just cool stuff to make web surfing a hell of alot easier...

So if anybody finds a free file or something cool that people may want to download onto their 'puters..post them in this thread...I think it's a good idea..Hope you do to and contribute

thanks

Karen's Computer Profiler

Karen's Computer Profiler will scour your computer and inform you of absolutely everything going on within seconds

You can know absolutely everything about your computer. Network loopback interface? Yup. Nonmonetary decimal separator? Yup. What about AC line status? Oh yeah, even your AC line status. All this and tons more is available without any kind of research, labor, or effort.

Want to know how it works? Simply install it and run it. That's all there is to it. You can start flipping through tabs of computer information in seconds.

Computer Profiler will show you more than 200 different facts about your computer from 12 different categories. It covers specifics such as what operating system you're using (including what major and minor versions), what your power supply is, whether the battery is charged, the language and region-specific settings, and the size and serial number of your drives. The information is very thorough.

If you want to back up any of the information, just save it to a disk. You can also copy information into a clipboard to add to documents.

EvilLyricsfor WinAmp

Nobody actually takes the time to look up the lyrics to their favorite songs, but that doesn't stop you from singing 'em. You have three options if you don't know the words.

Make up the words you don't know. Throw in a thick English accent if necessary.

Mumble through the words until you get back to the chorus and then sing louder.

Download today's free file and have lyrics delivered right to your desktop every time you play your favorite tunes.

If you picked No. 3, read on. If you chose No. 1 or No. 2, go back to the karaoke bar and take another stab at "The Macarena." Go on, your sake's getting cold.

EvilLyrics, a free program, automatically goes out on the Web and retrieves lyrics for any song you play in Winamp. You don't have to do anything but play the song. EvilLyrics does the rest, searching a bunch of different lyrics databases until it finds what it's looking for. It also automatically stores lyrics in its cache so you can view 'em offline as text files.

Occasionally you'll get some random text instead of lyrics, usually because your ID3 tags are misspelled or wrong. Correcting the tags will fix this problem. If that doesn't work, click the little down arrow next to the Reload button and choose Try Next to get the next result. Select Edit name to change the name of the artist or song you're looking for. If all else fails, accept the possibility that the song is too obscure and doesn't appear in any of the lyrics databases.

Please Note: Despite the name, EvilLyrics isn't limited to Norwegian death metal. It'll also help you decipher the words to your favorite Christian rock and gospel ditties without any hassle.

I'll repost these downloads I gave BeGood...........

Alright...first you're gonna want to download this..

http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?...n&page=download

that's spybot- search and destroy. SpyBot -- Search & Destroy (SpyBot-S&D) will find adware and spyware modules on your hard drive and remove them. When you run this program for the first time, you'll be shocked to discover how much spyware is on your hard drive. Detecting and removing spyware is only one of the many things this program can do for you. Here's what else it detects:

Key loggers

Some trojans

Internet dialers

Browser hijackers

Several other nasties you may have picked up in your travels through cyberspace

Just think of all the information this stuff's been gathering. Here's how to get rid of it:

Launch the program.

Click the Search & Destroy icon and Check for Problems. Spybot scours your system.

Peruse the list and uncheck anything you want to keep on your system. Entries in red are most dangerous.

Click "Fix Selected Problems."

Once these modules are removed the related programs could stop working. No worries. SpyBot-S&D lets you restore the programs to their original form with its Recovery tool. You can also use the new Exclude feature to exclude specific programs, files, and cookies from the watchful eye of Spybot. It's great if you have spyware you need to keep in order to use a program, as is the case with KaZaA.

after that, dowload this...

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

Ad-aware...it removes ads also, some mstuff spybot didn't and whatnot

and after that..download this

http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

it prevents spyware from even being installed in the first place

and the most important thing you should do is keep them UPDATED WEEKLY...if you have any Q's about them, just ask....

This download keeps your files safe from snoopy people....

It's called...................PowerCrypt 2000

It offers a powerful encryption routine with a deceptively simple interface. What's more, PowerCrypt provides a built-in email client, allowing you to send encrypted files to associates or your home email accounts.

To encrypt a file you select what you want to encrypt, select the file(s) you want to encrypt in the top left pane. You should see your selection in the top right pane. PowerCrypt 2000 will only include files directly within the path of the directory. Select an output directory or folder and click Encrypt.

If you wish to do an entire folder or directory, select it in the top left pane, pick an output path, and click Deep Encrypt. You'll be prompted to enter a password. Try to use at least 10 characters and avoid dictionary words.

To use the Send Encrypted Email function, you must first go to Settings and configure PowerCrypt 2000 to use your SMTP server, close the application, and relaunch. Once you're back in, click the little yellow envelope icon on the upper far right corner, type and send your message.

For additional options, click on settings under the File menu.

download it here

Also here's a cool program where you can actually make your own vid games for the PC... lets you create a variety of action games ranging from platform games to top-down racing and maze-style games. And it's a free WYSIWIG game creation program. free is nice

Game Maker is multilayered, letting those who have mastered the simpler gamemaking functions move on to more challenging and complex games. In its simplest form, Game Maker is nothing more than a WYSIWIG editor that lets you drag and drop premade elements into games.

At its most advanced level, Game Maker lets you program behavior and functions into the various elements of a game using its built-in scripting/programming language. Game Maker does require a bit of trial and error, though. Your best bet is to set aside a weekend and follow the tutorials available on the company website.

You can download and play games created by other people..here

Here's a couple of similar programs that involve those post-it notes that we all use, but for our computer..

the first one is called....Stickies

Stickies lets you create notes that'll "stick" on your desktop even after a reboot. You can also put your Stickies to sleep for a specified length of time. Schedule reminders to pop up at different times during the day. You can even share them with people across a network or through email.

Don't like yellow? Customize the color and font style. Need to remember a Web address? Stickies recognizes URLs so that you can launch webpages directly

it's a pretty cool program...Jas could use it to remember "24" is on...just pops up on your screen telling you.. :D

find out more and/or dowload here..

http://www.btinternet.com/~tom.revell/

Also, another similar program called...TurboNote

TurboNote simulates those little yellow sticky notes, but you can put them on your desktop. Most of the time the program starts automatically. If it doesn't, start it up. You'll see a new icon in your System Tray. When a note appears, type a message you want to remember. You'll be all set.

Other options let you change the size and color of your note, enable auto save, use hot keys, or set an alarm. You can even use built-in network and email features to send notes to other people.

find out more and/or download it here...

Ok, I have a few to add. First, to go along with Spybot, there is Ad-aware. You need to run this along with Spybot if you want to make sure to get rid of all the nasty stuff.

Next is the best free anti-virus protection around, AVG. I use this as my only virus protection on my home computer. It has caught several viruses I picked up on the net and I have never had a problem it didn't catch and fix right away. I have it set to automatically scan my whole machine every night and download new virus definitions each week. No need to pay money for the same thing.

Last is a new one I just found, MyIE2. This is a very light weight browser replacement. Well it isn't actually a replacement it just sits on top of IE. The main benefit is that it gives you a tabbed browsing environment which is really cool, as you know if you've ever used Opera or Netscape/Mozilla. I almost switched to Netscape permanently because of the tabs but in the end it didn't render pages as well as IE (90% good, 10% BAD) so I switched back and gave up on the tabs until I found this. There isn't great documentation so you have to go to the message board here to get information on how to tweak it so you can use the Google toolbar, get the favorites bar to act like the links bar in IE, set it as the default browser, and whatever else you want to know.

I got more to post later.

Here's a program that I've been using for about 5 months and I like it....

It's called........AI RoboForm

It sits in your taskbar and when a form you have to fill out the little box pops up and with one click you it fills the entire thing..same thing for log-in screens..you can store your log-in-names and password on this and when the log-on screen comes up the little box pops up and you press fill out and there it is....

It's a good auto-filler and alot better than auto-complete that's on IE or whatver..more complete..

It's free, but you can't have no-more than 30 passcards...more then that and you'll have to buy the pro-version

But 30 is plenty..I have a general passcard with all my info..creditcard info addresses and stuff..and all the other passcards are just for all the sites that you have to log on to...You can also have it password protected, so noone else can look at your personal information..

It's really good..Download it here...

Here's a Free Firewall for you guys who don't want to pay for one or want more protection other than the XP firewall

It's called....Sygate Personal Firewall

Launch any network or Internet application, and Personal Firewall will bug you to allow, block, or ask each time if the program should be allowed to connect to the network. If you change your mind at a later date, right-click the funky saw-blade icon in the system tray, and select Applications.

If you're bored, or just don't know what to do with yourself, double-click the same funky saw-blade icon and -- voilà! Three graphs display all network traffic to and from your PC. Of course all that's just the tip of the iceberg for this free file.

download it here

This is a free download...

BlockCAD is a CAD (computer aided design) system developed for kids using Lego blocks as the base elements. Just pick a Lego brick and drop it onto a virtual Lego board. It's that simple.

BlockCAD also has different colored blocks as well. if you have a hankering for Legos, BlockCAD is a must-have. Plus it's free.

It's pretty good
