Sox:

  • Colson Montgomery, #39
  • Noah Schultz, #66
  • Caleb Bonemer, #76
  • Billy Carlson, #77
  • Hagen Smith, #79

They rank out the rest of the top 10 as:

  • Braden Montgomery
  • Jaden Fauske
  • Peyton Pallette
  • Tanner McDougal
  • George Wolkow

I don't think this is the first list to have Braden's stock dropping...I don't understand that at all, frankly.

Here's the Sox blurb:

Quote

What changed this season: Montgomery and Schultz started the season as the top two prospects and ended at No. 1 and No. 3, but had rocky seasons. Montgomery is about to graduate, started really slow and fell down the list, but is now raking in the big leagues. Schultz is having trouble throwing strikes, as is Smith and if this continues next season, it'll be time to worry. Bonemer has been really good, Wolkow is hitting more than I expected, and I liked the draft additions of Carlson and Fauske.

Who could debut next: Gonzalez is in Triple-A, so I'll bet on him debuting before Smith and Schultz starting throwing more strikes and get promoted twice.

Appreciate the reference to "Gonzalez" who is otherwise un-referenced in the article. Assuming it's Wikelman, but of course he's already pitched in MLB. Probably a copy-paste from preseason but I'm too lazy to check.

I believe it's Jacob, if my memory is correct, Kiley was higher on him on the preseason list.

Yeah, that would make some sense even if I think it would actually be an interesting question (in an academic way) whether we think Jacob or one of the two big lefty pitchers will hit the majors first.

Braden’s stock went down before his recent surge. McDaniel probably came up with this list a month ago and it does not reflect the last 2-3 weeks during which Braden surged.

But he was on EVERY single Top 100 list but one entering the season...or at least after the first half.

And to rank Bonemer so far ahead...just crazy.

Meanwhile, Wolkow has had at best mixed results.  Most would argue disappointing overall.

I wouldn't call Wolkow disappointing at all.  With the hole in his swing, he was always a high bust chance.  We have been talking about that since literally day 1.  The fact he is advancing through the system might even be a win.

Jacob Gonzalez doesn't merit a big league spot right now...and it's unlikely he makes the big leagues with the Sox barring a slew of injuries.

He almost certainly will be with the Sox at some point next year as a backup IFer.

He's not a starting position player but he should be on the roster fairly soon.

Has to beat out Sosa Mead Colson Meidroth Baldwin Vargas...he can really only play 2B, and is arguably worse than Meidroth at SS.
