The thing I like about Murphy is he'll be ready to pitch 150 innings next year. He really dominated at Birmingham but Birmingham for pitchers is like Charlotte for hitters. As a pitcher if your numbers are even just decent at Charlotte you're ready for MLB. Not bad for a 14th round pick from pretty close to the Glendale, Az. Facility.

Fedde-esque revival in store I think. That guy Cody Bellinger also turned out to be pretty good I guess but signed with the wrong Chicago team. I'd definitely like to attend the game if/when he debuts. However, I can list some players who should not be on the 40-man going forward: Tyler Alexander, Tyler Gilbert, Bryan Hudson, Owen White, Elvis Peguero. Possibly Ellard, Eisert, Altavilla but they seem like fine depth pieces. I'd maybe try to trade Davis Martin and Jon Cannon.

September 5, 2025Sep 5 Keep in mind if the Sox are going to make any Rule 5 picks, they need to be as many slots UNDER 40 as they plan on picking. They need to be at 39 to pick once, and 38 to pick twice.

I’m sure other posters might suggest 3 or 4 other names. I don’t think they are going to be too squeezed.

I don’t think they are going to be too squeezed. 38 seems right to me, but I am sure they look at the list and decide who is in front of them, and how many guys could potentially displace people already on the roster. A lot of these guys have weird histories that make them tough to roster, which is why they end up here.

Just bolded some players we could move along from on the 40 man; and some unprotected players that I would consider protecting. I wouldn't want to push all of those bolded guys off, but I would if the alternative was risk of loss of young pitchers. I would definitely protect Peoples. And I wouldn't want to lose Zavala (I realize the chances of him being picked in Rule 5 are small). Dalquist and Kelley probably should be protected as well.

I havent met my granddaughter yet and she's over 1 yr old now.

That's great. Two good reasons to go. Gilbert and Mesa have really grown up since I've been out there. Used to be a lot of farmland. Seems like a great place for a kid to grow up these days.
