White Sox @ Twins; Ellard vs Bradley

Alexander is trash too, just an awful staff. If we didn't have a lineup of over achievers right now, the twins would probably be on the verge of a 4 game sweep instead of the Sox

The Sox have a 2.66 ERA in the previous 3 games. Is that bad?

But with a pitcher that has no command, having the worst framer in the majors would hurt.

And yet statistically it hasn't. He walks more guys throwing to Teel.

If Quero costs something in framing, I think he makes up for it in getting better results from better sequencing.

Is that also cause Teel started catching Cannon the last few months, when he lost his command?

Well have you considered that if they hadn't played well enough to win 3 games, they could have lost them instead?

I'm reminded of John Madden saying something like "when you run, you go faster".

Sosa is having quite the night. Absolutely no focus out there.

Seems to be swinging less in general before 2 strikes. Doesn't seem to be helping. I think a coach got in his head about the "chase".

I want nothing to do with him playing 1B next year.

Trade him for Vientos, if true that the Mets like him.  Isn't Vargas our 1B?

Cannon has really spit the bit this season.  Maybe put him the pen (probably Burke and Martin belong there too).

That Mets rumor was bogus. Also, Vientos raising his stock again with a huge second half.   I don’t think the Sox had a prayer of getting him.

Depends on how you're defining "when he lost his command" I guess, he's always walked guys.

But his best two starts (7.2IP 3ER and 7IP 1ER) were both caught by Quero, one in April and one in July.

He's allowed 6+ runs 4 times. Three were caught by Teel, one by Thaiss. None by Quero.

He's allowed 1 or 0 runs over 5+ innings 3 times. Two were caught by Quero, one by Thaiss. None by Teel.

He has 5 quality starts. 4 were caught by Quero, one by Thaiss. None by Teel.

I just think Quero calls him better, or at least that the possibility is worth exploring.

Well they weren't going to get a starting 3B from a contender.  But the offseason is a different story.  Now I wouldn't make that trade.  They both are poor defenders, but I prefer Sosa's steady improvement on offense year after year.  Vientos had a nice 2024, but this year it's Sosa 1.3 fWar and .5 fWar for Vientos.

Alexander has been so awful last few weeks

In about 5 years someone will bring him up as that guy Getz traded for who truly sucked out of the pen
